Alessia's mind was reeling with questions as she listened to Dominic's words. What could he possibly propose that would change her life forever? But as she looked into his eyes, she saw something there that gave her pause. A hint of vulnerability, perhaps, or a glimmer of sincerity. She pushed the thoughts aside, focusing instead on the unease that had settled in her stomach. What did she really know about Dominic, after all? As they stood there, locked in a silent understanding, Alessia's thoughts drifted back to the confrontation with Vinnie. Who was this man, and what was his connection to Dominic? And what secrets was Dominic hiding behind those piercing eyes? Alessia's instincts screamed at her to be cautious, to not get too close to this enigmatic stranger. But her heart seemed to have other plans. As the silence between them stretched out, Alessia realized that she had a choice to make. She could walk away, right now, and forget she ever met Dominic Morano. Or she could take a step forward, into the unknown, and see where this journey would take her. Alessia's thoughts drifted back to her childhood, growing up in the wealthy Berry family. Her parents had always been distant, more concerned with their social status than with their daughter's well-being. As a result, Alessia had grown up feeling lonely and unloved. She had learned to rely only on herself, to never trust anyone else with her emotions. But despite the cold exterior she had built around herself, Alessia couldn't shake off the feeling that she was missing out on something. She longed for connection, for love, for someone to share her life with. And then she had met Dominic, with his piercing eyes and his enigmatic smile. He was the first person to ever make her feel seen, to ever make her feel like she was worth something. But could she trust him? Could she trust anyone? Alessia's thoughts were interrupted by Dominic's voice, low and husky. "Alessia, are you okay? You seem lost in thought." She turned to him, her eyes locking onto his. "I'm fine," she lied, trying to brush off the emotions that were swirling inside her. Dominic's eyes narrowed slightly, as if he didn't believe her. But he didn't push the issue. Instead, he changed the subject. "So, shall we discuss my proposal?" Alessia's heart skipped a beat. What could Dominic possibly propose that would change her life forever? Dominic's eyes locked onto Alessia's, his gaze intense. "I have a business proposition for you," he said, his voice low and husky. "One that could change your life forever." Alessia's heart skipped a beat. What could Dominic possibly propose that would have such a profound impact on her life? "I'm listening," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Dominic smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I want to offer you a deal," he said. "A deal that will give you the financial security you need, and more." Alessia's eyes narrowed. What did Dominic want from her in return? "What do you want me to do?" she asked, her voice cautious. Dominic's smile grew wider. "I want you to marry me," he said, his voice dripping with confidence. Alessia's jaw dropped. Marry him? Was he insane? "What?" she spluttered. "Why on earth would I marry you?" Dominic's eyes seemed to bore into her soul. "Because, bella," he said, "I can offer you the one thing you need most: protection." Protection? What did Dominic mean?
