Among the guests was Jacob Harrison. Alysey had been seeing him secretly for 5 months now .She'd met him at market square on her short Sunday offs. The way he looked at her always made her blush and warm inside.He had wanted to take their relationship further but she couldn't...not right now

As the party progressed Alysey saw her Mistress was flitting shamelessly with a handsome young man whom she knew as the Mayor's son .Her uncle who was already drunk didn't seem to mind as he was having a heated conversation with his son .He looked so angry. Before anyone could notice, Alysey quickly snuck away to her uncle's home office. It smelled of cigars and whiskey .She knew he offen slept here when he was drunk .She started opening the office table's drawers and rummaging through his papers . When she was on the third drawer she found a white envelope with her father's name on it .She took it and tucked in her bodice.Just as she was searching the last drawer, she heard the sound of glass shattering . She knew then things had gone wrong in the parlor . she rushed out , as she got there, she found her uncle in a violent fistfight with his son .The master ,her uncle, was always like this when he was drunk. Though Edward couldn't outpower his father ,he kept shouting profanities and threatening to kill him as soon as he got the chance .The guests were scurrying out like mice and some of the women were screaming. It was total chaos .Mr Rosenev the butler and Mr Smith one of the guests came and lifted the master from the ground .Since he was being violent and wouldn't calm down , the mistress ordered them to drag him to his home office and lock him there .After a few minutes things began to quite down .As last of the remaining guests were living ,the Mistress and her daughter were standing at the big doors offering apologizes for the disruption. Anna was more upset about loosing her date than her father's behavior. Once the doors were closed Anna stormed off to her room. The mistress turned to Alysey, lily and Tia and screamed " l want this parlor spot cleaned by morning. if I see any speckle of dust one of you will pay for it "

"Yes mistress" The girls answered in unison.

"Good " the mistress said and stormed off to her bedroom with Edward following her.

before he got to the top of the stairs ,he called out to Alysey and said she was to bring him a cup of hot milk before she go to bed .Alysey knew it was going to be one of his so called pushments
