THE SHOCKING REVELIATION

Part 5: The Shocking Revelation The library felt colder that night, the shadows deeper. The words from The Cursed Reflection echoed in Sarah's mind, looping endlessly, refusing to let go. "You were born a twin. Your sister’s soul was locked, her life taken at birth." Sarah’s fingers trembled as she traced the ancient ink, trying to grasp the impossible truth. She had always known she was a twin, but her family said her sister had died at birth—a tragic story, long buried. But now, a terrifying possibility loomed. What if her sister hadn’t truly died? What if her soul had been trapped, locked away just like Maha’s in the story? And what if her sister was still waiting… still suffering? --- Sarah spent the next few days consumed by the mystery. She scoured the internet, searching for anything about ancient curses, soul entrapment, or rituals to break such bonds. She looked into old myths and legends, but every answer only led to more questions. Zain stood by her side, watching her closely. He had always seen Sarah as strong, logical, grounded. But this—this obsession—worried him. "Sarah, maybe you’re reading too much into this," Zain said one evening as they sat by the campus café. "It’s just a story. Maybe it’s meant to feel real, but that doesn’t mean it is." Sarah’s eyes met his, fierce with determination. "No, Zain. It’s not just a story. It feels... connected. Too much to be a coincidence. I can feel it, deep inside. Like something is pulling me toward it." Zain sighed, but he didn’t argue. He cared about Sarah, and if there was even a sliver of truth to this curse, he wouldn’t let her face it alone. "What do you need me to do?" he asked. Sarah looked at him, relief softening her expression. "I need to find where she's trapped. If she’s still here, if her soul is still suffering… I have to set her free." --- The next clue came unexpectedly. Late one evening, Sarah dreamed of an ancient place—a forest dense with fog, where the trees loomed like sentinels. At the center of it stood a crumbling stone ruin, its entrance dark and forbidding. In the dream, she heard a voice, soft and broken, whispering her name. "Sarah… help me." She awoke, breathless and cold. Her heart raced as she remembered the voice. It wasn’t just a dream—it was a call. The next morning, she and Zain followed her instincts, tracing old maps and ancient landmarks. After hours of searching, they found a local legend about a ruined temple hidden deep within the nearby forest. It matched Sarah’s dream. A place abandoned centuries ago. A place where, according to whispers, ancient souls were once imprisoned. --- They set out the next day. The forest was dense and eerily silent. Shadows curled beneath the trees, and the deeper they walked, the heavier the air became. Finally, they reached it. The ruins stood like a forgotten monument, half-swallowed by the earth. Moss crept over the stones, and vines tangled through the broken walls. At the center, an ancient stone door, marked with strange symbols—symbols Sarah had seen before. In the book. "This is it," Sarah whispered. Zain hesitated. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Sarah nodded. "I have to." With trembling hands, she pushed the door open. --- The air inside was cold and damp. The walls were lined with faded carvings, depictions of ancient rituals, of light and shadow, of sacrifice and betrayal. At the center of the room stood an iron cage—rusted and ancient, but pulsing with an unnatural energy. Inside the cage, a shadow stirred. And then, a voice—soft, broken, and filled with sorrow. "Sarah…?" Sarah stepped closer, her heart thundering in her chest. The shadow took form, coalescing into something almost human. A girl—pale, broken, her eyes hollow with centuries of suffering. Maha. Or rather, the soul of her sister, locked and waiting. Tears filled Sarah's eyes. "Is it really you?" The shadow’s voice cracked. "I’ve been waiting… for so long." Sarah reached out, her fingers brushing the cold iron. "I’m here now. I’ll get you out. I promise." But the shadow’s response was hesitant, heavy. "Why would you save me? After everything I’ve done? After everything I became?" Sarah’s throat tightened. "Because you’re my sister. And no one deserves to be trapped like this." But even as the words left her lips, doubt flickered. Was freeing her sister the right thing? Would Maha return as the same broken soul… or as the curse reborn?
