Beauty Beneath The Surface

330 Words
I remember that it hurt Seeing him with her Seeing how happy he was when he was around her I could tell the difference When he was just with me and when we were all together He looked at her with all the care in the world, like it was his fate, his destiny Just to be near her and love her He had cared for me once But that was long ago Long before our paths met and became one I remember that it hurt He looks at me and I know he sees her instead I can feel it His touch is no longer the same, in fact it's no longer there He spends his time with his arms wrapped around her Looking at her like he's in shock of her beauty Yes, she is beautiful no matter how many cuts and scars are placed upon her skin She was all he fancied, all he wanted I remember that it hurt He thought she was the only one with cuts and scars Little did he know, mine were just hidden beneath the surface That is where my beauty lies, with the cuts and scars My beauty was beneath the surface I remember that it hurt Looking at him and knowing I could never have him That his world was now orbiting around her Looking at him with pain in my eyes and having him not even notice Having him not even care when he did notice I remember just how much it had hurt Because I wasted so many tears on him when he didn't even love me He loved her with all his heart, I loved him with all of mine. He never once looked at me the way he did her He never once saw how real the pain was getting He didn't understand because he loved her, not me. I remember that it hurt Having him look at me and see absolutely nothing at all.
