The following morning, Melissa woke up feeling hungry. She held on her stomach as she left her bedroom and headed for the stairs to go to the kitchen.
Getting to the kitchen, she met with a lady who had her back turned at her as she was cooking. The lady was dressed in a crop top with a short. She watched the lady with confusion.
"Hi." Melissa said, making the lady turn to face her.
"Hello! You must be Melissa." The lady said, smiling.
"Yes I am." Melissa said with a confused look.
She wondered what the lady was doing in the house. The lady stretched out her hand to Melissa for a handshake.
"I am Sophia Crook, Andrew's younger sister." The lady said, smiling as she stretched out her hand to Melissa.
Melissa smiled as she took the handshake, smiling, then looked at what Sophia was doing. Sophia turned back to look at what she was cooking while Melissa walked over to the cabin and leaned on it.
"What are you doing?" Melissa asked.
"I am making some fried chips." Sophia said, and poured some set of chips into a bowl.
"Okay." Melissa said and looked around.
Away from the cabin, she saw a transparent bowl of fried fish and smiled.
"You made those?" She asked Sophia, pointing to the transparent bowl of fried fish.
Sophia took her face off what she was doing and followed the direction of Melissa's eyes and smiled when she saw the bowl which contained some fried fish.
"Yes I made them." She said, then turned to face what she was making. "Would you love to have some?"
"Yes I would love to have some." Melissa said with a giggle.
"You may have some." Sophia said.
Melissa walked over to the plate rack happily to pick up a plate. She walked over to where the fish were kept after picking up a plate and dished out some fish onto the plate and ate.
She moved to the cabin with the plate of fish.
"Where do you think your brother, Andrew, will be?" She asked Sophia whose eyes were fixed on the chips she was making, forgetting how Andrew spoke to her the day before.
She wanted to meet her husband even though she hadn't accepted the fact of being married.
"He has gone out." Sophia said without making an eye contact with Melissa, whose facial expression changed.
Melissa looked on as she wondered how a man would leave home without informing the person he left at home. She thought she was going to start behaving like his wife.
"You don't have to be here as you just came into the house last night. I think you should go back to your room while I bring your breakfast to your room." Sophia said.
Melissa nodded her head and took the plate she had put the fish on and left the kitchen. She climbed the stairs to her room.
Getting to the room, she walked to the large table in the room and placed the plate of fish on it.
She took one piece of fish from the plate and started chewing the fish and sobbed as she was in a sad mood. She loved fried fish. She walked to her bed and continued sobbing as she ate the fish.
"Why would a man be like that?, How would he leave a woman he brought home to be his wife just like that?, Why can't he inform me before going out?" She asked herself.
She remembered what he told her the night before about not meeting her parents again.
"Why can't he just be nice to me?" She asked herself.
She bowed her head down and allowed her tears to flow.
Minutes later, her phone began to ring. She picked up the phone and stared at it as she saw her boyfriend's name displayed on the screen.
"What am I going to say to him?, How am I going to talk to him?, I can't tell him that I am married." She said to herself as she continued staring at the phone.
Her hand began to shake as she remembered all that had ensued between them.
A few minute later, she heard a knock on the door and immediately wiped her tears off. She hid her phone which was still ringing, under the pillow that was on the bed and put on a smiling face.
"You may come in. The door isn't locked." She said as she adjusted her sitting position on the bed.
Sophia walked into the room with a plate of fried chips and fried chicken and drew a small table towards Melissa. She dropped the plates on the table and looked around.
"Where is the plate of fish?" She asked Melissa.
Melissa pointed to the large table where she kept the plate of fish.
Sophia nodded her head and walked up to the large table and brought the plate to the small table in front of Melissa.
"Hold on." Melissa said when Sophia turned to leave the room.
She wanted to tell her to plead with her brother so that he could allow her visit her parents once in a while, but later thought against it. She didn't want to stir up trouble between the siblings. She also felt that it would be awkward to tell Sophia that, since she just knew her, so she chose just to get to know her.
"Yes." Sophia said, as she turned to look at her.
"Can you take your sit?" Melissa asked, pointing to the side of the bed and Sophia nodded her head.
Sophia sat down on the bed and looked at Melissa as she wondered what she wanted to say.
"I just want to know you." Melissa said, and Sophia nodded her head.
Sophia looked at a pillow on the bed as she could see lights flash and guessed it was a phone.
"I guess your phone is ringing." Sophia said, pointing to the pillow.
"I know, but I would love to know about you now." Melissa said, hoping that Sophia would turn away from the pillow and focus her attention on her.
"You should pick your call. I would leave for the living room if you don't want to pick up the call while I am still here." Sophia said and got up to her feet.
"I will be in the living room." Sophia said, and moved to the door.
"Alright." Melissa said with a nod.
She closed her eyes as she heard the door close and sighed.
"That was close." Melissa said as the phone stopped ringing and reached out for it under the pillow.
She checked the missed calls on her phone. She discovered that she had six missed calls. Four of the missed calls were from her boyfriend, while two of the missed calls were from her best friend. She put on her connection and opened her message to see the messages she had. The first message which popped up was from Emilia.
Emilia was Melissa's mate at high school who, despite her.
The message read, "Congratulations on your new life. You are now a wife." with a smiling emoji.
