“Will you come home?” Alec asked still holding onto me like I was going to run for it.
“I..uh.”
“I know, I have done and said unforgivable things but please don’t you think I’ve paid the price? 18 years Bella.. 18 years of thinking of what I could have done different. What I would never have again.”
I nodded understood. Yes he did things and said things but there was those who were worse and they deserved the pain not him.
“I want Lexi gone.” I spoke softly to him. His bright blue eyes looked towards me. They looked so lifeless so broken. Just like the man who held them.
“I can’t.” He spoke softly. I stood at his words.
“Please Bella. Understand I just can’t rid of her.”
“And why is that? Is one still not good enough for you?” The bitterness bit out of me. His eyes traveled to the ground.
“No. I only want you.”
“THEN WHAT IS IT!?” I yelled not caring the whole village watched me scream at the king.
He coughed.
“She carries my pup.” He whispered out.
My heart dropped. Plummeting to my stomach. Again my mate chooses Lexi over me. f**k them. I am no longer wanting this. The anger surging through me. My veins burning just like my heart and mind.
He is a joke Selene how dare you insult me with this disgrace.
“Isabella you’re on fire.” I heard Jazmine say near me as I stared down at the disgrace of a man.
“I should kill you.” An unearthly voice left my mouth. Causing the shameful man to look up at me. Tears in his eyes.
My heart taking over my conscious. I gripped his throat in my hand.
“I should take your f*****g life. You f*****g disgust me! You are weak not fit to be king nor is she fit to be queen! You submit to a witch. You f**k and impregnant the very woman who took the light from me because what I DIED!? THAT’S HOW YOU CHARISH MY MEMORY?”
“Please!” I heard Lexi screaming making me turn my attention to her but Alec gripped my arm that was around his throat.
“You want to hurt someone. Not my baby. Hurt me.” Alec spoke up. I ripped my arm from him. Noting the burn marks I left on his neck and hand.
“That will be the only mark you will ever receive from me.” Then I bent down to face him. “I would never hurt a baby not even if it meant to save my own life.” Isabella could hear Lexi exhale.
“I am rightful queen by fate. That is and always will be my title.” I turned to Lexi. “You are just the mistress, but he is yours. My duty is to my kingdom.” I then turned and began my walk to my castle. This was my kingdom.
As I walked down the road everyone kneeled. I was more respected than the king himself. The weak cannot lead. I was no longer weak.
“Your majesty.” A man next to a car spoke opening the door for me. I nodded walking to the car to sit before I sat, I turned to the gates of the village to see my mother, aunt and father standing watching tears in their eyes. I smiled to them.
“You will always be my parents. You will always be my family. I will never forget what you have done for me. I love you with all my heart. I will not say goodbye this is not goodbye. This is something I must do. Without you. Selene’s wish.” I said to them just as I sat in the car closing the door still staring towards them as they kneeled to me until the car took off.
The drive was long. Trees passing time slowing. My mind racing.
“Why did he do it?” I asked to the driver.
“Do what your highness?”
“Make her queen. Mate her?” The driver shifted in his seat obviously uncomfortable.
“That isn’t my place to say, your highness.”
“It is when I ask.” I didn’t mean to come off snobby but the bitterness bit at me.
Silence fell around. Until finally he spoke up.
“He was forced.” The driver spoke.
“By who?”
“Parliament.”
“Why her?”
“Her father took a chair and spoke about how brave and tough she was. Something we obviously know she wasn’t.”
Silence filled the car once more until he spoke again.
“He never wanted her.”
“Not enough.”
“I understand your highness. Please understand he had no choice. You were dead no one thought you were coming back.” I nodded my head to his statement just as he pulled to the castles drive. Stopping the car and turning to me.
“For what it’s worth. Everyone mourned you. You were here for such a short time but you did things to this kingdom changed it for the best.” He stepped out to open my door.
“This way your highness.” He motioned his hand to the doors of the castle. Slowly I followed him.
Nodding to the guards at the door. They opened it.
I gasped at the site before me. There in the massive entry stood at least a 20 foot portrait of me or the woman I was. Looking proud and beautiful. A smile so bright it could melt the whole world.
“Not a day went by he didn’t look at you. The castle is filled of you. He never forgot you. In fact he painted all of them. You were and still are never replaceable.”
