Packing a suitcase for my next-day departure, I looked up immediately.
“Richard, come on down. Dinner’s almost ready,” Gilliand hollered.
“Coming,” I yelled.
Descending the stairs, I opened the door, leading to the backyard. Everyone was seated at the table.
At one end, Uncle Oti graciously said, “Richard, come sit down.”
Once seated, I noticed the gates were open.
Uncle Oti began to say, “Before we give thanks, let’s go around the table and introduce ourselves. Hi, I’m Oti.”
“Hi, I’m Rosemary, Gilliand’s friend. You can call me Rose.”
“Hi, I’m Gilliand.”
“Hi, I’m Calina.”
“Hi, I’m Alexis, Henrik’s sister,” said the blonde, British-accented woman.
