The news

I woke up feeling anxious and tired. I haven't been sleeping well for the past few weeks, because of the stress at work and i was also feeling anxious about going to check if i was picked for the scholarship. The list is coming out tomorrow. Today is a free day because my boss had to travel, and we closed work for the day. I didn't have much to do today, so I decided to just stay in and then later in the evening I would go to Gina's place to see her. But I didn't go out later. I ended up sleeping all day. Kane Louis pov “What do you mean she is at the hospital” I said, almost screaming at my grandma’s pa who was on the line. I just got a call that my grandma was in the hospital. My grandpa is the one I have loved the most in my entire life. She was always there for me, unlike my parents who were always busy with their work stuff. I have learned to grow out of my parents' love, but my grandma was more precious to me. “Turn the car around” I said to the driver. On getting to the hospital, the whole place was already surrounded by journalists, reporters and cameramen who were waiting to put this on the news. I was so used to this, my family was always on the news and social media, because we were one of the richest families in New York. I got down from the car and went into the hospital. “Where is she?” I said coldly to the receptionist in the hospital. “She is in the VIP room sir” the lady replied, already recognizing me. I walked down to the VIP room where my grandma was and entered. I saw my grandma smiling like nothing was wrong with her. I walked to her and held her hand. “Grandma, how are you” I said to her, feeling sad. “Am good, my dear grandson. Don't worry about me” she said sweetly. “ You know I will always worry about you grandma”, I told her, giving her hands a little squeeze. The doctor came in and asked me to see him in his office. I followed him to his office and the news I heard was the most heartbreaking one in my life. “Your grandma doesn't have much time left” our family doctor said. “What do you mean she doesn't have much time left? can't you do your work properly” I said to the doctor angrily, feeling like giving him a punch for saying that. “Her cancer is already stage four, she would be lucky to live 4 months” the doctor said, shaking his head painfully. I walked out of the doctor's office feeling like my world was crashing down, the person I loved the most is about to die. I went back to meet my grandma, and the look she gave me was like she was sorry that she was going to leave me alone. “My baby don't feel sad, okay,” she said with a smile. “Pls don't leave me grandma” I said, feeling tears brim up in my eyes. “I have only one wish that I want you to fulfill for me” she said, holding my hands. “What is it, grandma? I will do anything for you” I said to her. “Get married” my grandma told me, looking straight into my eyes. “What” I replied to her “I want to see your wife before I die” she said, giving me her pleading looks. I don't believe in love, and I don't like commitment. I just sleep with girls and pay them off, no strings attached at all. And now my grandma wants me to get married. “Okay grandma.” I promise to get married if that's what you want me to do for you”. I said to her not wanting to break her heart. And an idea also popped in my head, am definitely never falling in love or getting married. Laurie pov It was finally the day to go and check if I got the scholarship. Today I was going alone because Gina and George had to go to work. I had my bath and wore a simple dress. I brushed my hair and applied little makeup. I have already ordered a ride to get me to Louis culinary school. I went out to wait for my ride and after a few minutes my ride arrived, I got into the car and greeted the driver politely. The drive was fast, and we were at our destination in no time. I got down from the car and made my way into school feeling a mixture of feelings at the same time. I went in and walked up to the lady at the reception. “Good morning ma”, I greeted the lady. “Good morning miss, how may I help you” the lady replied with a smile. “Am here to check the list for the students who were granted scholarship to this school ma” I said politely. “ Go down the hall, then the room on your right is the auditorium, the list is pasted there” the lady said giving me the directions. “Thank you ma” I said, turning to face the direction she had given me. I walked down the hall and entered the room by the right. I was feeling scared and anxious, what if I don't make it in. I entered the room and I saw so many people. I guess they were also checking the list. I walked to where the people were gathered. When I got there, I saw the list. I closed my eyes and said a little prayer. I opened my eyes and checked the first list. I didn't see my name, checked the second one and didn't see my name still I still, and when I got to the last one my name was written there, Laurie Mendez accepted. I couldn't believe my eyes. I made it into Louis culinary school. This is going to change my life forever.
