The encounter

Chapter 2 “Louis who” I replied to her, feeling a wave of anger over me. “The same Kane Louis” Gina said with a questioning look in her eyes. I met Kane Louis when I was 8 at the orphanage. His father was also a sponsor at the orphanage like Gina and George's parents. And the incident that happened when I was eight made me hate Kane Louis completely. “What is wrong” Gina asked, drawing me back from my thoughts. “It's nothing” I replied, not wanting to tell her about the incident that happened between I and Kane Louis. “I think you should start getting ready for the competition, you know it's in the next five days.” Gina said “Yeah i will do just that.” I replied her with a soft smile. “Thank you very much Gina, this means a lot to me.” I said while hugging Gina. The next day I got up really early to get some groceries from the grocery store and some toiletries. When I got back from the grocery store, I watched some cooking videos on YouTube and t****k. I also tried to practice some of the cooking myself and it came out nice. I was so happy and anxious about the competition at the same time. But I just mentally prepared myself for anything that happens. I repeated the same routine for the next four days, until it was finally the day of the competition. I woke up very early, because I was unable to sleep in the night. I kept having nightmares about my parents' death. I always had nightmares whenever I was nervous or anxious about something. Gina and George are the ones driving me to the place where we would be having the competition. I had my bath, brushed my hair and got dressed. I wore a simple floral dress and white flat shoes, and then I applied a little makeup checked myself again in the mirror to check if I was okay, and then I picked up my bag and was about to grab the keys when I heard a car horn outside. I knew that must be George. I grabbed my keys and went outside. I locked the door of my apartment and started walking towards the car. I could see George waving and smiling at me from the driver's seat, Gina was seated in the passenger seat of the car pressing her phone. When I got to the car I opened the front door and entered. “Good morning George” I said. “Good morning Laurice,” George replied with a smile on his face. “Good morning babe, I hope you are ready for today.” Gina said from the backseat after stopping what she was doing on her phone. “Sincerely am actually very nervous, but I am confident in my cooking,” I said truthfully. “You're gonna do great dear.” George told me reassuringly. “Thanks George” I replied to him, feeling a lot more confident in myself than before. It was an hour drive down to Louis culinary school. When we got there, I almost choked I had never seen any building as big or as beautiful as this. I couldn't stop staring. I also noticed that the whole parking lot was filled with expensive cars. George parked his car, and we got off to go inside. Once we got inside I was more mesmerized than I was outside. The inside was so beautiful with exquisite and expensive furniture, cooking utensils and so many beautiful things. I went to write my name down where I was supposed to be and I was asked to follow a man who took me to where I would get my apron, cooking utensils and food items. After getting my things, I went to where the cooking would take place. We were addressed by a woman who said she was Mrs Alberta. She is probably in her early 30s, and she looked like a strict and sweet person at the same time. After addressing us it was time to start the competition. All the nervousness I had been feeling before was now gone and replaced with a different type of feeling. I got to the section where I was to do my cooking. We had an hour thirty minutes to finish the cooking. The timer started and everybody got to work. I started by setting up and arranging all my ingredients. After that, I got to the cooking and everything. Before I knew it, the time was up, and we were asked to submit our work. I placed my food in a very neat way and presented it to the judges. They tasted the food, and I was so happy because they had satisfying looks on their faces. I just hope that their looks also judge the mark they will give me. The competition was over, and I was about to go and meet Gina and George, when my eyes caught a painting in one of the offices. I stared at the painting for a while. It reminded me of when i was eight. I had followed my dad to an art exhibit by one of his friends, and my dad explained so many paintings and artworks to me. I was about to continue walking when i collided face to a wall. I lifted my head to look at the wall when it hit me that it wasn't actually a wall but a masculine chest. I looked to see the face of the person i bumped into, when I was met by the most beautiful but ice-cold blue eyes of someone that looked Really familiar before it hit me. “Kane Louis.”
