The incident

Chapter three

I didn't just bump into anyone, I had to bump into my old nemesis. Kane Louis.

It was a cloudy afternoon, and I was playing around in the garden at the orphanage. I liked to play in the garden because I liked to look at the flowers there. They were so beautiful, and it always gave me a type of peace whenever I looked at them.

I don't have any friends in the orphanage. My only friends were Gina and George, and they don't live in the orphanage. They only come once in a while. So whenever they are not around, I always play alone.

I saw the latest expensive car outside the orphanage. I guess it was probably a new sponsor or a couple who wanted to adopt a child, but they had a young boy in the car. He is probably their only child, and maybe they wanted to adopt another child to be with him. I walked past the car and went back inside the orphanage to my room, which I shared with two other girls, Camila and Danielle. The two were besties. They don't talk to me, and they always ignore me in the room and talk bad about me to the other kids.

I was about to sleep when I heard a knock on the door. The door opened to reveal Anderson, one of the older kids in the orphanage.

“Laurie Madam Catherine wants to see you” he said, looking at me with a tired look as if he didnt want to be there.

“Ok” I replied, my voice coming out like a whisper.

I got down from my bed and walked to Madam Catherine's office. I knocked on her door and waited for a reply.

“Come in” I heard Madam Catherine reply back.

I entered her office feeling a little nervous. I saw a couple sitted on the guest chairs in front of madam Catherine and their son was also sitted. They were the ones in the expensive car. I wondered what they wanted and why Madam Catherine called me.

“How are you doing today, Laurie” Madam Catherine asked.

“Fine ma” I replied, not lifting my head up.

“This is Mr and Mrs Louis and their son Kane Louis, they are new sponsors for the orphanage. And I would like you to give their son a little tour of the orphanage” madam Catherine said to me

“Ok ma” I replied OK, already feeling nervous of taking the kid on a tour am not really good at talking with people.

“Okay then Kane follow Laurie. She will give you a tour of the orphanage” I heard Madam Catherine say to the boy who she said was Kane Louis.

I went out of the office with Kane following me. I looked back to talk to him, but I couldn't. I was so scared he would not reply me. So I kept quiet and kept walking.

“Do you have a playground here” Kane asked with a mischievous grin on his face.

“We have” I replied to him, my voice coming out as a whisper.

I was trying my best not to seem nervous in front of Kane Louis. I took him to the playground.

“I want to play on the swing” Kane said, facing me.

“Do you want me to push the swing for you”, I asked him.

“Yes” he replied, making his way to the swing.

I followed him and waited for him to sit, then I gave the swing a little push. I started adding strength to the push. And after a while he asked me to stop.

“Would you like me to push you too”, Kane asked me with a smile.

I was actually scared of playing on the swing because I was scared of heights. But I couldn't say no to him because I didn't want him to see me as a scared girl.

“Ok” is said, mustering all the courage I have. I sat on the swing and closed my eyes. I felt him push the swing a little.

“This can't be that bad”, I thought to myself. Kane started giving the swing a little harder push, and I felt the swing going up more into the air. Before I realized that Kane was putting in more strength into the push.

“Stop!!!!!!” I cried out, feeling my face burning with tears. I can't take this anymore. But if Kane heard me, he didn't stop his pushing. Instead, he continued pushing the swing harder. I was crying so much, and I couldn't breathe well. I closed my eyes and just hoped I would faint, so I would stop feeling this.

After a while, I heard the swing stop and other kids had surrounded us in the playground. I guess my screams attracted them. When I opened my eyes, I saw Kane leaving like he did nothing and the other kids were all laughing at me. I felt so bad and heartbroken. I have hated Kane so much since that incident.

“Miss” I heard someone call, snapping me out of my thoughts. It was kane Louis. I stood up well and adjusted my clothes.

“ Am sorry” I said to him with my face down, hoping he wouldn't recognize me.

“You should look where you are going next time” he said coldly, and walked away from me.

I guess he is still as rude as before. I remember Gina and George were waiting for me. I ran to the parking lot and saw Gina coming my way probably to go look for me.

“Sorry I kept you guys waiting” I said when I got to her.

“It's fine. How was the competition? Hope it was fine? Gina asked with a concerned look.

“I tried my best” was all I could say to Gina.

“ It will be fine, don't worry” Gina said reassuringly.

“Thanks babe” I said, feeling better.

The drive home was very fast. When I got home, I was so exhausted and tired. I went to the bathroom, took a shower and then microwaved the remaining food I had left. After eating, I went to bed.

The next morning was just my normal daily routine. I went to work and came back home. I had to go

Back to Louis culinary school to check if I was picked for the scholarship. I went to bed with a feeling that everything was going to be alright.
