Who can say for sure where everything started. Sloane had rough years earlier in life before all the bullying. Anything really could've started the dark downward spiral that Sloane found was his life.

At the age of 4, Sloane dealt with his parents' divorce. After the divorce, he mainly lived with his dad or his grandparents. At times, he lived with his mom. It all depended on the guy his mom, Erin, ended up with at the time. She went from guy to guy after her divorce from Sean. Erin was mostly trying to find someone who could support her financially. The only problem with the wealthy guys she ended up with is that they didn't want to raise someone else's kids. So Sloane and his older sister didn't really ever know where they would end up.

His sister, Mandy, had Erin as a mom too, but Sean wasn't her dad he was the only dad she ever knew, though. So Sloane was technically only her half-brother. There were times when Mandy and Sloane didn't even live in the same household together. Needless to say that the instability of a home life contributed to the chaos that Sloane felt inside. At a young age, he realized that if he could rely on anything, it would have to be himself because nothing in his life felt stable and secure. He felt like he had to take the responsibility upon himself to make things happen in his life.
