CHAPTER 1 — An Offer **Ana’s POV** I’m currently working on my new project, which we are supposed to complete today. Before you get confused, let me introduce myself — " I am Ananya Khanna ". I completed my graduation in Interior Designing and started my own business right after. Don’t imagine anything big. It’s a small company with a team of six members, and I’m the head of the team. We design houses, local hotels, and small commercial spaces. Our company isn’t huge, but we are satisfied with our steady growth. Most of our projects come from regular clients and referrals. This is my small world — **Khanna Interior Designing**. Today, I’m working on a penthouse renovation. We finally completed everything. The owners just returned yesterday from their honeymoon and will be checking the design today. The owner is "Fiona Carter ", a friend of my best friend Jenny. So our entire team tried to give our best. My meeting with Mrs. Carter is at 5:00 PM. It’s already 4:55 PM. I’m standing outside the penthouse, praying silently that she likes our work. I rang the bell, and within seconds, Fiona opened the door. Before I could even greet her, she hugged me so tightly that I couldn’t breathe. After catching my breath, I said, “Hello, Mrs. Carter. How was your journey?” She pouted. “First of all, don’t call me Mrs. Carter. That makes me sound sixty! I’m only twenty-four. Call me Fiona… or Fin. And the journey was great. We enjoyed a lot!” I smiled. “I’m here to know if you want any changes. If there’s anything you would like to modify, our team will handle it.” “There’s no need to change anything! Everything is perfect. It feels like home,” she said warmly. “I absolutely love it. Your work is amazing.” I thanked God silently. Client satisfaction is everything to me. “I’m glad you like it,” I said happily. “If you worked in a big company, you would hold a high position by now. Why don’t you try it?” Fin asked. “Thank you for the compliment, but I don’t want to work under anyone. I want to build something of my own and give employment to others. I don’t like depending on people,” I replied. After chatting for a few minutes, I prepared to leave. She handed me my payment, and when I counted it, I froze. “Fiona… you gave me extra money by mistake,” I said, returning it. She pushed it back with a smile. “No. I gave you extra because I wanted to. I’m genuinely impressed with your work and your nature. Take it.” I tried rejecting it, but she was stubborn. In the end, I accepted it. While driving home, I passed a church. Today was Saturday — donation day for orphanages and old-age homes. I stopped, went inside, and donated the extra money to charity. As I was about to leave, I heard someone call my name. I turned and saw Fiona walking toward me. --- **Third Person POV** At the Carter Penthouse After Ana left, Fiona received a call reminding her of the weekly family dinner at her parents’ mansion. Fiona and her husband left immediately. On the way, their car suddenly broke down near the same church where Ana had stopped. From a distance, Fiona saw Ana going inside and followed her out of curiosity. She watched Ana quietly donate all the extra money she had given her—every single dollar, not even half kept for herself. Fiona was stunned. Ana wasn’t rich, yet she willingly gave away money she could have easily used for herself. When Ana turned to leave, Fiona called her. Ana stopped and waited. “Hi, Ana,” Fiona greeted softly, then asked, “Why did you donate the extra money?” Ana smiled gently. “I have food to eat, clothes to wear, and all my basic needs met. If I keep that money, it will simply stay in my account. But for those people,” she pointed toward the donation area, “it can provide their food and necessities. Besides, I don’t like taking more than I deserve. You forced me to accept it, so I thought… why not give it to someone who needs it more?” Fiona was moved deeply. She asked Ana to be her friend. Ana agreed with a smile, and they both left for their respective destinations. Ana reached home, finished her daily routine, and went to sleep peacefully. --- **Next Morning** Ana received a call from an unknown number. “Hello, good morning. Can I speak to Ms. Khanna?” “Yes, this is Ms. Khanna.” “I am Mrs. Charles Knight, secretary of Mr. King, calling from King Pvt. Ltd.” Ana frowned. "Why is such a big company calling me?" “How may I help you?” she asked politely. “You were suggested by Mrs. Carter for the interior designing of a new project under King Company. If you are interested, please come to the office on Monday afternoon to meet Mr. King. You may bring samples of your previous work.” Ana froze. ""King Company."" One of the most powerful companies in the world. Why would they select her? What connection did Fiona have with Mr. King? “Ms. Khanna? Are you there?” “Yes… I’m sorry,” Ana said, snapping back. “It’s okay, ma’am. Are you interested?” Ana thought for a moment. “Okay, Mrs. Knight. I’ll be there on Monday.” She ended the call, completely shocked. She took a deep breath and whispered to herself, “All is well… everything is fine.” and continued he work. But her heart wasn’t calm. Because she had no idea that the man she pushed at the club… was Mr. Alexander Black King himself.
