Chapter 35 Ana's solution Third Person POV: The next morning, Ana sat at the end of the bed, leaning against the headboard, sleeping peacefully. Alex lay in her lap, his hands wrapped around her waist. --- Last Night When Alex entered the office, Ana had come to collect her things. Seeing the lights on in Alex’s room, she thought Charles might be there. She wanted to discuss something with him about Alex’s return. To confirm, Ana knocked on the door but heard a weak voice telling her to come in. She saw a man’s back but instantly knew who it was. She never expected him to return so late at night. She knew Alex had been absent for the last few days because of the trafficking case. Fin had said he might take some time to return. Seeing him, she wanted to leave but remembered the last events. Ana wanted to apologize to him, but he ordered her to give him a massage. Before she could reply, he went into the attached room in the office. After a few seconds, she heard him calling her again. She was surprised to see a small private room with all the facilities a home might have—a single bed, an attached bathroom, a kitchen, a living hall, and a mini bar. Alex raised his voice. “I have a severe headache. Start massaging.” When Ana entered, she didn’t notice that Alex was already seated on the bed, waiting for her. Alex shouted weakly, “What are you waiting for?” She played soft music and went to bed to massage his hair. After a few seconds, she noticed Alex’s breathing becoming steady and calm. She wanted to leave, but one look at his face stopped her. He looked exhausted. Seeing him sleeping in an uncomfortable position that could worsen his back pain, she decided to help him lie down. But things didn’t go as planned. Ana tried dragging him down to sleep—it was difficult, but eventually, she succeeded. She thought he was just a heavy sleeper and began arranging a pillow under his head without waking him. It wasn’t that Alex was a deep sleeper—he was simply so tired that he couldn’t feel anything. But Alex, half-asleep, pulled her to sit and placed his head in her lap, sleeping like a child. "What a cute boy…" She quickly shook the thought away. She wanted to wake him, but seeing his pale and tired face made her feel bad. "Why should he work so hard? His parents earned enough… so why must he push himself like this?" she wondered. She studied his features closely. He looked weak, but his handsome face hadn’t lost its charm. "Every time I see your face, you look more handsome than before. Why?" Ana whispered, gently brushing his hair. She remembered how hot their last encounter had been. She didn’t hear a voice in response—but a female one inside her mind: "Because you’re starting to like him. I think your feelings have been growing since the last time you saw him." "No… I’m only helping him. He’s helped me many times before. This is just my way of repaying him,"Ana told herself. But thinking about him lulled her into sleep as well. --- When Ana woke with a stiff neck, she tried turning her body but felt numbness in her lap. Then she realized the heavy weight resting there—it was Alex’s head. She slowly tried to lift it, but just then, a loud alarm rang. Startled, she let go, and Alex’s head dropped, hitting her knee. "Ouch… what the f**k?" Alex rubbed his head, waking up, and shouted, "Who entered my room without permission?" "I’m sorry, I just…" Ana stammered. "Ana?" Alex was surprised to see her. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and looked again. It felt like a dream. He remembered coming to the office with a headache and asking for a massage girl. "I just wanted to help you, but when the alarm went off, I panicked and dropped your head. I’m sorry," Ana explained quickly. But Alex wasn’t listening—he was staring at her morning face. ""What a beautiful morning. Seeing her early makes my day "", he thought. Still, he didn’t know how she got in, so he teased her, recalling the past: "Ana, why are you here? Did you miss your man?" repeating her words from last time. Alex’s pale face from last night now had a spark of brightness in his eyes. "No… last night you ordered me to massage you. You didn’t give me a chance to reply." Ana replied with a shy face When he heard the knock, he thought it was Charles and a massage girl. "Next?" Alex asked. "When I was about to leave, you dragged me to sit. You didn’t let go, so I stayed. I didn’t want to disturb your sleep, so…", she trailed off. "I thought you were the massage girl invited by reception, right?"he explained. Alex had thought sleeping in her lap was just a dream, but now he realized it was real. "Then you should have reminded me?" Alex questioned her. When he saw Ana getting ready to leave without answering, he called out, "Ana, where are you going?" Ana turned back, meeting his gaze. "I am leaving. Before I go, I want to tell you something." Alex gave a small nod, noticing her seriousness. Looking straight into his eyes, she said, "I’m sorry for causing you stress—because of me, you got dragged into scandals, for calling you my man, and for that night’s behavior. It’s all my fault. I have a solution for it. And thank you for saving me when I was in danger. I’ll be grateful to you for the rest of my life." Hearing her words, Alex felt a flash of anger. Who wanted her gratitude? "And about those rumors, I’m sorry. From today, I’ll stay far away from you. For work, you can send me your responses through calls or emails. This is our last project together—from now on, we’ll be strangers." With that, Ana left. Alex was dumbfounded by her reply. He didn’t know why, but whenever Ana talked about being strangers, it hurt him more than he wanted to admit. --- Ana’s POV: When I came to work on Monday, I heard some employees gossiping about me—calling me a "....." and other names. They said I got this project by sleeping with him. So, I decided to come back after everyone had left to collect my things. I’m not afraid of this society; I don’t care about that kind of trash talk. But if you let your guard down and allow others to win, they’ll only hurt you more. The only reason I care is because it affects Alex’s business. That’s why I made this decision—it will help both of us. This way, I won’t have to come here and hear these comments again. Normally, if someone talked badly about me, I’d slap them and shut their mouth. But the reality is… "I dragged myself into this mess. So I have to be responsible for it." I was the one who took advantage of Alex. Society only sees what’s on the outside and judges. This is what I’ve always hated—people judging by what they see, without listening to the other side, without even trying to understand the situation. It’s useless to explain. The better choice is to walk away. And I believe I made the right decision. --- Alex’s POV I was stunned by Ana’s reply. What she said didn’t fully sink in at first. Rumors? What rumors? I had no idea what she was talking about. Then I turned on my phone and searched for any rumors about me. There was nothing recent about me and Ana. Ana never talks nonsense—so something must have happened while I was away. I called David and asked him about it. He explained, "When you were away, there was a rumor about you and Ana. Someone took a photo of you and Ana kissing that night at the restaurant. That picture caused a stir in society—‘Top billionaire Alexander holding a girl in his arms who dared to kiss him.’" The whole story was nothing I could have expected. "I’ve never liked mixing my personal life with the media, but now they dare to mess with me? I’ll make them regret it." Normally, I wouldn’t care about rumors involving other people, but this was about Ana. I couldn’t stand the thought of anyone speaking badly about her. I liked her bravery. If it were someone else, they might use this as an excuse to climb higher or act weak in front of me. But she’s Ana—something special. Still, I didn’t like her solution. By that evening, I had already made my decision—and I followed through with it. ---
