Chapter Two — Helpless Situation
I decided to start practicing magic because there were many things I would need to build for my new home, and my little self could not do everything alone.
Selena, my mermaid, started teaching me how to move things around the house, create light and fire, control the wind, and stay focused while performing magic.
It was very hard to learn all these things, but I knew I had to do it to save the world and avenge the death of my parents. That thought kept me going, so I continued practicing until midnight.
I was so hungry that I could hardly move.
Suddenly, I felt sad because when my parents were alive, they never made me do things like this on my own. Anyway, life must go on.
With Selena's help, I hunted a bird, cooked it, and ate it with plenty of water.
"Without you, I don't know if I would be able to do all this," I told Selena.
"That is why I am here for you," she replied.
I went to sleep, but after some time, I heard Selena calling my name. I woke up immediately and heard the sound of someone sobbing outside.
I peeped through the window and saw a man attacking a girl.
I was furious and tried to use my magic, but I couldn't.
"Selena, what is going on? Why can't I use my magic?" I asked.
"You have not completed your training yet," she replied. "It will be difficult for you to use it now. If I come out and interfere, it could be dangerous for you."
I cried and watched helplessly as the man assaulted the girl until she fainted. After that, he left the forest.
I quickly ran to the girl and checked her pulse. She was still breathing.
Using all my strength, I carried her to my little hut. I poured water on her face, and she woke up immediately. She was frightened and tried to run away, but I assured her that she was safe and could stay with me.
She calmed down a little. I gave her some water, changed her clothes, and gave her some medicine that had belonged to my parents. Seeing the medicine reminded me of them.
She noticed the sadness on my face and became afraid. I quickly calmed her down and fed her. After eating, she fell asleep.
The next day, she woke up and told me her name.
Her name was Mary. She had lost her parents at a tender age and had been living with her uncle ever since. Unfortunately, her uncle made her life a living hell.
She eventually escaped from him, but unfortunately, she was captured by human traffickers and sold to another monster who treated her like a slave and forced her into p**********n.
She managed to run away and escape, but she once again fell into the hands of an old man who assaulted her. Finally, she was saved by Bamidele.
Bamidele breathed in deeply.
"If she did not give up after everything she has gone through, why should I give up?" she thought.
She told Mary her own story, and they promised each other that they would stay together.
