Chapter 30 New Goods in the Antique Shop

“Well, sort of. I graduated from a medical university.” Vincent nodded. But Carl narrowed his mouth, “Aren’t you embarrassed?! You didn’t even pass the internship! And now you dare to claim yourself as a doctor.” “Haha, it’s okay! I’m also a graduate of medical university!” The old expert smiled, “Medicine and biology share the same fun. Since you like it, you can take a few.” The old expert then took out a small transparent box, picked up a few capsules, and put them inside it, “Who knows? Maybe you could figure our way out. Doing science research sometimes requires luck.” “I’ll just give it a try... but thank you, sir.” Vincent nodded. “Puff, pretending to be knowledgeable?! What have you got to do any research with it? Even they can’t make it, who do you think you are to gain on them?” “I’m taking it for fun.” Vincent didn’t get angry and put the capsule box in his pocket. They visited there for a while and learned some information before leaving the laboratory workshop and returning to the office. As soon as they walked in, the curvaceous secretary hurriedly greeted them, “President Quincy, the Elliot Industrial Group just informed us that they had set the conference at 10:00.” “What?!” Matthew was taken aback, “10:00 in the morning?! Today?” “Hmm!” The secretary nodded. “Damn! I... got nothing prepared yet! Damn!” Matthew scolded unexpectedly, sounding like he was in a panic. Right now, he didn’t seem like a calm boss. “Dad, why are you panicking! If they set the conference, we should go and attend,” Clare said. “Clare, don’t you remember that I went to the antique shop with your grandfather last night?! We had thought of bringing some gift for President Elliot before the conference so that we may get a chance.” Clare and Natalie nodded. “But as you see, the gift is not ready, and our capsules are not developed perfectly yet. Whoops, if the project is taken by another company at the conference, I don’t know how long we’ll have to wait for the next chance.” Matthew clapped his hands, devastated. “I don’t think so. Other companies may be under the same situation as us and don’t have any good projects to provide.” Carl shook his head. “Hey, what do you know?!” Matthew shook his head, “Do you think we are the only one researching bacteria purifiers?! There are three in our state and another seven in other states. Even the Elliot Group is up to getting involved as well.” “Uh!” Nobody knew what to say. “Uncle Matthew, it’s just nine o’clock. If so, we should hurry and go to the antique shop first. Maybe we still got time to buy something good and send it over,” Vincent warned immediately. “That’s right! Let’s go! Clare, hurry up and call your grandpa. Tell him to join us in the antique shop!” Matthew said anxiously while taking them out. This time, Carl drove the car, Vincent was still in the passenger seat, while Matthew sat in the back with his two daughters. The car soon arrived at the antique shop, which was also the largest antique trading place in Fairfax. Moreover, all sections of the entire firm were owned and run by one owner. In the entrance of the two-story building, there was the name inlaid on it: Memorials of Ancient and Present!! That was bold to boast! Matthew walked in with them, and the four behind were amazed to see the dazzling and rare antiques inside. Calligraphy and paintings, gold and silverware, bronze wares, jewelry, silk weavings, ceramics... There was almost everything inside it and their prices were posted on the board. As for the fake or modern stuff, there were clear marks as well. It seemed like a place with good stuff and promising markets. Beside them were many aged or experienced scholars, wandering around. And the salespersons were also receiving and introducing for them back and forth. They looked quite patient. Seeing that Matthew came with a few people, a middle-aged man with round-frame sunglasses came over. Judging from his face, Vincent knew that he was not a good person. “President Quincy! You are here again?! Welcome!” The man grinned as he walked over, acting obsequiously. He might look that way, but Vincent could feel the cunning trick under his sunglasses. Perhaps, the sunglasses were used to cover his eyes. “Hello, Mr. Lowrance! I’m here again!” Matthew held his hands in front of his chest to greet him, just like the ancient people did. Perhaps he was influenced by the atmosphere inside. “They are my family.” “It’s nice to meet you! Where’s Senior Mr. Quincy by the way?” The man asked. “My father hasn’t come here yet. We’ll take a look first,” Matthew said. “Sure, of course... Mr. Quincy, please.” Lowrance smiled and pointed in a certain direction. “We just received a few stuff this morning and got them evaluated. You can take a look if you are interested.” “Are they potteries?” Matthew was taken aback. “Of course.” Lowrance smiled, but he looked at Carl and eye-contacted him secretly. “Okay! Let’s have a look!” Matthew nodded and took them over. “Dad! With so much good stuff here, why do you prefer the potteries? I don’t like it at all! It’s too easy to be broken,” Natalie complained. “Hehe, you don’t like it, but President Elliot thought the opposite. Am I buying this for you or him?” “Oh, forgot it! I don’t need any of it!” Natalie pouted. They came to a newly set counter. In the transparent glass cabinet, there were seven or eight objects placed on the display table paved with yellow silk satin. They were all ceramic antiques: two vases, one disc, one pen holder, one wine pot, a set of tea sets, and one... something that looked like an inkstone. “Did you mean these?” Matthew asked. “That’s right. We just got them collected here in the morning. You said yesterday that the objects were either too low or too expensive. Why don’t you take a look at these?” Lowrance smiled. “Let me see.” Matthew nodded, took the magnifying glass on the counter immediately, and looked carefully through the glass. Lowrance was enthusiastic. He opened the glass cabinet and let Matthew observe it closely. The latter was very grateful. In fact, Matthew didn’t know much about antiques, but Senior Mr. Quincy knew a bit. Matthew only came here because he believed in the reputation and the judgments of the experts. The evaluation of the experts here was not bad in the industry. Some of them even had attended some shows to evaluate the antiques. Of course, Vincent knew nothing about this. But that wouldn’t be a problem since he got superpowers.
