CHAPTER 7
CHANDRA’S POV
~DREAM~
“Chandra!” Aster yelled at to me, running full force. I almost fell backwards from how quick he was coming at me.
“Aster?!” I yelled back, tears flowing down my cheeks as he held onto me in a tight hug.
“You’re safe.” He whispered into my hair.
“Aster? Where have you been? Why aren’t you with mom and dad?” I asked, but he only looked upset, as if hiding something from me.
“Aster?” I questioned. But he only shook he’s head.
“It’s better if I tell you in person, Chandra.” He responded with a sadden frown.
“What do you mean? You’re with me right now.” I replied confused. But Aster only shook he’s head again, smiling sadly.
“I miss you my little sister.” Was all he replied, as he held me once more before letting go and walking away.
“Aster?! Where are you going?!” I yelled in pain from seeing my brother retreat from me.
He looked over he’s shoulder smiling sadly, he’s eyes looked like they were holding back tears, pain and agony.
“I will find you.” Was my brother’s last words.
“Please! Wait for me!” I cried out in pain. I tried to run but it was as if my feet were stuck to the floor.
“Aster!”
*******
I jolted up from my sleep, my ears filled with tears, my breathing heavy.
“Aster.” I whispered to no one but myself.
I looked over to the alarm clock near my bed, it said 3:45am.
Knowing I wouldn’t get any sleep tonight. I got up from my bed, going out of my room walking downstairs. I headed into the kitchen to get a glass of water.
Then something caught my eye out of the kitchen window.
“What the-“ I left my glass, walking out of the kitchen into the training fields.
“I wouldn’t go there if I were you.” I heard Enzo’s deep voice from behind me.
I jumped from surprise, turning to him accusingly.
“Why not.” I scowled at him. But he only shrugged he’s shoulders.
“Danny just got word from the royal pack castle. He’s mate had a miscarriage.” He replied with a dead expression.
“Mate?” I questioned.
“He’s my third in command, so the lost of his heir is running through the pack.” I turned to him, watching him questioningly.
“You make it sound like he’s child is nothing but a benefit for the pack.” I replied with a glare. But he only looked at me coldly.
He’s eyes sent shivers down my back. But I ignored it, glaring at him just as badly.
Enzo then sighed running a hand through he’s hair as he looked tired.
“Why are you even up?” He asked, but I felt my eyes go wide as I tried to come up with an excuse.
“Uh, no reason. I was, um. Thirsty? For water!” I pointed at my glass cup on the counter, but he only looked like he didn’t believe me.
“Just get back to bed.” Was all he said as he went passed me, going into the fields.
I bit my lip thinking about his suggestion. But seeing as I was afraid of going to sleep, I instead followed him.
“Why did I think you’d actually listen?” Enzo spoke up with a tired tone.
I only shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t know, maybe because everyone else does?” I replied with a genuine answer.
I turned to sneak a peak at him, but he was hiding a small smile.
“You might want to stand back, I’m going to need to get closer to calm his wolf.” I turned to look at him curiously.
“It’s okay Danny, it’s just me. But I’m going to need you to calm down, okay?” Enzo started off, but I watched from close by.
I almost laughed at his tactics as Danny went to lunge himself at him.
Danny’s wolf snapped his head at me from my laughter, but Enzo looked frighten for the first time I’ve seen from him. Usually his blank expressions and powerful aura was on display, but not right now.
Danny went sprinting at me as Enzo leapt into the air in his wolf form, trying to stop Danny.
I smiled at he’s courage. But when Danny came closer, my eyes and hair started to glow. The rim of my dress starting to flow.
“Enough.” Was all I said. And Danny then shifted back into his human form. Cradling himself like a small child.
I stepped towards him, kneeling in front of him as I caressed his hair. I don’t know why, but I felt compelled to nurture him, as if he was my own flesh and blood.
“Give it all to me.” I whispered, then a flow of pain shot through me. I almost tumbled down in pain. But this pain wasn’t physical, it was he’s pain. He’s pain from losing he’s child, and not being near his mate to grieve and hold each other.
When Danny opened his eyes, he looked at me with wide teary eyes.
“Moon goddess.” He whispered before I let the overbearing pain take over my weak form.
I fell unconscious.
********
“You came into MY PACK, and you hurt one of MY PACK MEMBERS!” I heard Eric yell out.
“Enough son!“ I heard John scold Eric.
“It’s my fault, I didn’t mean to lunge at her.” I heard Danny speak up in the room.
“Enough. I feel like you’re forgetting who you’re talking to. I’m still the King, and you WILL show respect.” Enzo’s deep voice echoed the room.
“Now, if you need inquiry of the night we can speak somewhere else. More suitable.” Enzo replied with authority.
“Yes, your highness.” John replied. “Come on son, she needs her rest.”
“No. I’m not leaving her.” Eric replied coldly.
I shifted in the bed, only to open my eyes to a bright light.
“Why are you all so loud? And why is it so bright?” I asked tiredly.
I saw Eric come close to me in a hurry, holding my hand. Asking if I needed anything.
John blew out a sigh, as Danny had his head to the ground looking guilty.
However, Enzo only smiled at me. As if he was proud?
“You’re in the hospital, Princess.” John explained, I only frowned.
“You can call me Chandra, John.” He only lightly chuckled.
“Yes, of course Pri- Chandra.” I rolled my eyes, but still gave him a smile as I began to get out of bed.
“So, why is everyone in my room? Or the hospital room?” I asked as I went to stretch my arms and legs.
“You were unconscious, Chandra. Because of him!” Eric pointed accusingly at Danny, who only hung his head more low. Enzo snarled at him in return.
“Son.” John said warningly.
“Last night wasn’t anyones fault. Now if I was you, Alpha Eric. I would learn to not make rash assumptions on other packs loyal warriors. That is how you make unnecessary wars.” I replied with a glare.
“But you was out for 4 days!” Eric yelled back. I rolled my eyes.
“Good. I haven’t had a good sleep like that since I’ve been here, this entire time.” I replied with a frown.
Enzo smirked at my reply, as Danny finally lifted his head for the first time being in this room.
John looked like he was going to laugh, but Eric looked angered.
“I’ll see you later, when you’re more recovered.” He replied lowly.
I only rolled my eyes.
“Sorry about him, for some reason he’s very fond of you. You’re like family to us, Chandra.” I only smiled at John nodding my head in understanding.
I then turned my attention to Danny, as John walked out of the room following his son.
“You okay?” I asked, raising his head. He only looked sheepishly as he tried to not look guilty.
But looking into his eyes, we both silently knew what happened. He knew what I did, and I silently begged for him to not tell anyone.
I smiled at him, before embracing him in a hug. “I promise you, you will have another child Danny.” I felt him freeze at my words. As if feeling the power in my promise, trusting it will come true.
He held onto me, as if feeling comfort in me.
“Thank you.” Was all he mumbled before letting go and giving me a shy smile. Walking out of the room with more energy in his step.
“What happened that night.” Enzo questioned. I almost forgot he was still here.
“I felt sick. That’s why I fainted.” But by his expression I can tell he didn’t believe me.
“That’s why I woke up that night, I didn’t feel well. Must of took a toll on me from the cold night and chaos going on.” I continued, hoping he would believe me now.
But he only sighed.
“If you don’t want to tell me, fine.” He spoke, a tiny bit of hurt evident in he’s tone. “But don’t lie to me, Chandra.” He said patting my shoulder before walking out of the hospital room.
“I’ll call the nurse to check your vitals, then you should be good to go. But be more careful next time, I thought you wasn’t going to wake up for a second.” I only felt guilty at how concerned he was.
“Get some rest for now, I’ve got things I need to take care of. But after I will come see you.” He then left, walking into the hospital hallway.
I sighed, slouching onto the edge of the bed.
I then felt being pulled by an unknown power. Falling to my knees in shock by the power shooting through me.
“Chandra!” Was all I heard in my head before I clutched my chest, taking in deep breaths.
‘Aster?’
