Chapter 1 It's been one hour and sixteen minutes. She's waiting under the cemented shed in front of the College University, embracing her portfolio. She had just finished her last morning class subject and was waiting for Jedrick. He's been her boyfriend since she was seventeen. They have been together for a year and her birthday serves as the day of their anniversary. She looked to the left again, stretching her neck. However, the guy is still not around, not any sign of his car despite the truth that she's about to lose her toes including her nails. She's wearing five-inch high heels and her blue dress. She just finished the biggest requirement for this year's defense and is quite proud of herself, and now that the new year is coming, she will take the qualifying exam again to enter fourth-year college. She's an Accountancy student, a prim one. She doesn't have time for gimmicks and any kind of nonsense stuff like her rich classmates because she is a scholar and Dean's lister. Sometimes, Jed tells her that she is old-fashioned but she doesn't care what her boyfriend says. She's the only one who has the right to decide what's better for herself and if she thinks striving hard for her studies is the key to attaining her dream of becoming a CPA, then she's more than willing to study harder not just to reach but to grab it. Even Jed can't do anything about her even if she says she's the most boring girl in the world because she doesn't let him kiss her torridly. She's not boring when she's talking. She's a good woman and so bubbly, it's just that they don't match because he's an heir while she is not. It was clear to Helena since childhood that the two of them would be together, but that was not what she was holding on to. It was her grandfather's will and so was Don Ricardo Vergara, Jed's Abuelo. His grandparents own the village, all the fields of rice, sugar cane, pineapple, and the entire expanse of land that her eyes can see. She can consider herself lucky to have him as a boyfriend but that's not what she thinks. She doesn't want to rely on the man she will marry because she is not crippled. She is not a social climber, digging for gold in the mine of Jed's family. She will work hard for herself. She will not give anybody the reason and the fortitude to turn her down. Helena wants to work for herself and buy the things she loves to buy using her penny. If she doesn't have it then she will just ask and whatever is given to her, she will be grateful for it. She's not a hypocrite and she's not indolent. Even if her marriage to Jed, which her grandfather is persevering with, goes through, she will still work because she doesn't want to be a very submissive person who just says yes to every order or thing that is given and ordered to her. She loves Jed but she doesn't trust the man. She doesn't know why she can't fully surrender. Rumor has it that he is a philanderer and that more than ten women passed through his hands. He's always ready for s*x. Jed studied in the US and went home after. Here the man lives with his grandfather and he is very spoiled to the old Abuelo. That's what Helena hates about Jed, he has d**k but has no balls. He is thirty but he acts as if he isn't a man. What Don Ricardo says, that's what the man does, so be it. After all, what can he expect if he is the sole heir? Jed isn't the type of guy who lives his life seriously, everything about him just concerns money and nightlife. They are young but she is not comfortable with the attitude of her boyfriend. He's like a child's mind that doesn't have its disposition in life. But she can't do anything because she loves him too, yet she can't explain why something seems to be missing. At this moment, the deal was that she would be picked up at 10:45 but it was past twelve, and yet he still isn't there. She's tired. She hasn't gotten any sleep because she studied a lot last night. Jed even fought with her because the man was naughty and tried to get intimate with her last night, Just so because they had been together for a year, he thought she'd give up just like that. Of course, she alleged her rationalized mental attitude. She said no and it would always be a no. If he only kissed her on the cheek, he must never expect anything more than that until they were married. She doesn't fully trust him and who knows he can't afford to exile her if he doesn't want her in the end when he already got the one he just wanted. Jed is a virgin addict, that's what she heard but some gossip will remain as rumors unless proven. Yes, she has love for him but it has to be sheer and felt complete first, and she must feel it in herself that she is ready to take another step getting intimate in the course of their relationship. Helena brushes her thoughts aside when she notices Kylie's car, her childhood best friend. They used to be very close but she didn't know why the wind seemed to be blowing differently between her and the woman. Kylie started to treat her as an enemy rather than a companion since Jed came home. She's not competing with anybody, but she's just being ignored. She made a full effort to ask Kylie why and tried to fix everything between them but the woman was a great competitor. She's been contesting for something…or someone. All of a sudden she found out that it was all about Jed. She had lost her only best friend because of a guy. It wasn't her intention but she's not a martyr. Ever since. She and Jed were meant to be. It's not her fault, so why should she be affected? If Kylie didn't like her just because of Jed, she wouldn't be chasing her around like a puppy. It's okay for her to cry for a few days over the loss of his best friend, but it's not right for her to cry for the rest of her life. Kylie was jealous, the woman even accused her of seducing Jed. Shameless! Does a virgin know how to seduce a man, never been kissed, never been touched? It's amazing! Maybe that's the basis of closed-minded people who do not want to listen to other people's explanations. So why would she waste time explaining more if no one wants to listen and it's useless in the end? Helena gasped when the woman smirked as if insulting her, looking at her sideways. Kylie got out of his car and walked like an underwear model of used clothing, called Ukay-Ukay. Helena's wondering where Kylie's been. It was class hours but Kylie seemed to have escaped. Kylie is very different from the childhood friend she had known. Since the woman set foot in Manila, her demeanor changed when she returned home. Helena glanced at her wristwatch and a soft 'tsk' quickly came past her lips. After a while, she saw Kylie come back and has been talking to someone over the phone. Her butt is twitching in her too overly cut Nursing miniskirt. The woman giggled and sat on the side of the car, looking at her as if Kylie was proud of something she didn't know. "Oh, hell yes. Let's meet some other time. At your castle near the beach," The woman even emphasized the pronunciation of the word 'beach'. Helena immediately lifted her gaze and stared at the plant box. Castle by the sea? Her heart races in an instant. Nobody owns a cabin near the seashore except for Jed. It is so impossible that Kylie is referring to somebody else because the general part of the town belongs to the Vergaras, and Kylie's father is the Mayor. "Oh please, baby boy, I don't want to be in the stable and the car anymore. I feel like a mistress, a luscious mistress and not a boring one.” Kylie said again and giggled after dilating her eyes at Helena. She swallowed and felt so nervous. Stable? Car? Boring girlfriend? "It's delicious, so delicious.” another giggle with sensuality came out from Kylie's lips. She swallowed. She doesn't want to think bad things but she seems to have a bad hunch. She had noticed for a long time that everything they had was just a joke to Jed, so he couldn't give up entirely herself on him. That's why she's still a virgin now because her boyfriend seems to be sweet to her only when he wants something! And now she will hear her ex-best friend trying to piss her off? She's not a fool. She knows that it is Jedrick who's on the other line. Her breathing hitched as she tried to control her tears. Her blood is coiling and her green-eyed monster is eating her self-control, her patience. She's been waiting for one and a half hours by now but there was her filthy boyfriend somewhere beyond hell, talking to a b***h? Shameless! She is not stupid. But she shouldn't just throw a tantrum. She's going to ask him decently. Who knows, Kylie is just playing some dirty games with her or trying to work up some stupid faux stories about Jedrick. "Yes, tomorrow at the same time, near the shore. Wait for me there, baby boy. Bye. I love you, too!” Kylie hangs up and sexily puts the smartphone inside the expensive bag she's wearing. Snakes are shameless! Animals! Her blood was boiling, including tears, but she tried to control herself. She's going to put Jed in his proper place but of course, she has to prove her instinct right before she bursts out. She's not the type of person who just snaps out with just the right suspicion. She has to see everything. Her eyes follow Kylie as the woman walks out on her again with that smug smirk. She felt so puny and instinctively inferior. She has nothing except for her mother, Vergara's servant inside the three-story mansion of Don Ricardo. Her mother was Jed's nanny. She just blinked when she suddenly felt weak. It seems that her future husband is cheating on her, the only man she adored and she became his girlfriend who loved him even though his behavior was blistering. She will find out the truth tomorrow. If her intuition is right she will not hesitate to postpone the wedding right away. She remained standing under the shed for a few minutes more before Jed came over, driving his sparkling yellow Hammer. This is the only car like that in their place whose price is said to be around 5.6 million pesos. And if he is asked, it is not pleasing in the eyes because it looks like a funeral car, no offense, while Jed loves his car more than anything in this world. He would even kill just because of his stupid car and it happened so many times. When his car gets even just a tiny scratch, Jed punches right away. She remembered that day when he looked like a gunman when his car was once hit by a tricycle from behind. He has an immense egotism and she doesn't like it. And she never felt so proud that Jed was her boyfriend. She's not a fool to put herself in a controversy. They are not even married yet but rumors already spread, so what more if they already are? And she'll not even marry Jed if he has proven anything because he has never changed. "Hi, babe," Jed peeked through the window and then winked at her. The devil has a wide grin. The devil must have reached the seventh heaven. She's not aware of the 7th heaven but she heard about it so many times. Her high school teacher had always warned them back then not to join any frat organizations to keep their hymens intact and to never experience the thing they so-called 7th heaven when the male members of the fraternity settled the initiation by getting them laid. And she got the meaning of that. So, she had mastered to remember that 7th heaven deals with s****l relations with the opposite s*x. And the devil Jed seems to be from the seventh heaven of satan Kylie. In the stable? In the car? Phew! "If I'm pregnant, I've probably already given birth here," she answered the man with a helpless smile that only grew bigger. The white teeth and the two small dimples on the side of his lips were exposed. She seemed to have to hit his ego but he wasn't in the mood to fight back. Why? He has that satanic grin because he's ignorantly happy. Jed is every woman's fantasy. This is the center of attention of women throughout the town and everyone is looking forward to a date with the millionaire successor. Jed has a pointed nose, messy thick black hair, he has a goatee that they always fight with but she will admit that the goatee suits him, with beautiful black eyes and thick red lips. He has earrings in the ears and is arrogantly formed. He's tall, dark, and really handsome, only Helenah does not feel any sort of awe towards him because for her, Jed is lousy and a Grandpa's boy; another thing she considers before setting foot inside the church to marry him, but Don Ricardo is kind and does not leave her alone. The old man doesn't want Jed to marry anyone other than her because the old man said she is smart and very kind. She is said to be a hardworking and uncomplaining, responsible and non-mischievous woman. "Sorry, babe. I was just taking care of something Grandpa ordered. Hop in. Where would you like to eat?” Only one corner of his lips turned up for a smile. Grandpa ordered? Grandpa ordered that you have to fix the cabin so that you could f**k Kylie tomorrow? But why did her heart seem twisted because of that smile? A vision of Kylie's face with a smug grin comes flashing in, ripping her entire humanity. If Jed's cheating on her, that will be the end of the story. She would never marry a man who cheated on her just for another woman. She has her morals and she has respect for herself as a woman and even if she loves Jed, she's willing to sacrifice it rather than sacrifice her entire life and the love she has for herself just for the sake of granting other people's wishes. When Helena looked up, she met Jedrick with a brave gaze, "Just take me home because my foot has calluses," She opens the passenger's door of the Hammer and slams it close. Jed was amazed by her and she couldn't have mistaken that there was a strong woman's scent inside his car. Her heart only hurt more. Somehow she invested so much in this guy since her childhood days. She believed in him, loved him, and trusted him but now what? He must've been fooling her since then. "What is your problem? I'm just late. Sorry. Is that all you need? Fine. Sorry, Princess.” The man's thick eyebrows clashed as he looked at her and based on the contours of his face he was still insulting her with that word, princess. Sorry? She didn't feel the meaning of it and it felt like he didn't mean it. He's talking to her but looks like her mind doesn't absorb the topic. She noticed the strange aura on his reddened face, which still had scratches and couldn't be removed. Helena furrowed when she stared at the scratches on Jed's face. He knew that she noticed those red marks, that's why he evaded his gaze by revving the car. "Your seat belt. I don't have time for a nonsense fight, Helena. I'm tired! For Pete's sake! Loosen up. I came to pick you up though I know I was f*****g running late! Don't blame me and just thank me instead. Now, if you're going to complain about your calluses, that was merely your fault. You're not used to wearing shoes like that so why wear one?" He shook his head like he was kind of insulting her. Helena bitterly crossed her arms over her chest and just kept quiet. She also has no time to fight because she's saving her strength for tomorrow. She feels like crying but she’s strong enough to keep her tears. Jed's attitude is really like that. He's not sweet, and when they have a misunderstanding, he talks first and never stops, while she keeps her thoughts and words to herself. But her silence is threatening. When she's pissed off, it's time to go. Sometimes she thinks that Jed only wants the marriage for the sake of his inheritance, and the truth is that he doesn't love her. WEARING a cap that hides her face and a denim jacket to cover her curves, Helena was hiding behind a boat. She just looked around to make sure there were no people around when she tried to enter the cabin. She found the right moment to do so. That's why she ran until she reached the fence. Jed's car was there but she never saw Kylie's, yet her instinct was still gushing above her head that the woman was also inside the cabin. She sneaked and slowly ran to the balcony but she flinched when there was something bumped against the wooden wall. She paused and looked at it but she heard a giggle and a moan. Her heart ached. Confirmed. She knew it that she had to run away and change all what's meant to happen in the future but despite her fear of discovering the truth that's been badly stirring up her mind since yesterday, she peeked through the crevices of the walls of the cabin. It's made up of fine woods but there are crevices in between. Helena almost gasped and covered her mouth when she saw that Nico was carrying Kylie in his arms, both naked. The woman's legs were wrapped tightly around Nico's hips as he kept on rocking her up and down. She shut her eyes and swallowed. Kylie was screaming when Nico's movement became so aggressive. He was so strong to carry that woman in his arms while thrusting in and out of her core. Helena sobbed. She's a boring girlfriend that's why Jed f***s ramdom different women behind her back. She isn't hot. She lacks emotional warmth. Does she really have to blame herself? She looked again and now, Kylie's on the bed, legs were widely separated apart, and Jed was in between, pushing and pulling his d**k. Kylie doesn't stop screaming his name. Every thrust he makes stabs Helena's heart. She may not have not surrendered herself to him physically but she surrendered all her heart. This is her very first heartbreak. "Ahhhh," a loud groan came past Jed's lips as he stared at Kylie's face with a smirk. They look so happy together and it brought too much bitterness in her already bitter heart. She wanted to shout and run inside the cabin, hurt Jed with all her few remaining strength, but that's not the kind of a woman her mother molded her to be. She's a fine woman. She's well collected, and the best thing to do this time is to turn her back and walk away. She has to walk away from the people who give her heart some trouble. She was about to turn her back because she could no longer stare at what these people were doing but Kylie screamed. "Babe!" Helena wiped her tears and gathered herself to leave. Kylie was already gripping and pulling Jed's waist as he went deeper and faster to her p***y. She hurriedly took her steps to make it right away to the lane of those tricycles. She has to go home. "Let's go, please," she begged the driver. The tricycle will never leave unless there are three passengers. That's the rule of the drivers' association but if it's called special, the driver can leave even with just only one passenger but for a higher price. "I'll just pay you special," she begged again and without a word, the driver started the engine and went off. She looked back at the cabin as it turned smaller and smaller in her sight…and gone. That's the moment she sat properly and looked down, playing with her fingers. She couldn't stop her tears from rolling over and over on her cheeks. Despite the fights and misunderstandings, she had loved Jedrick so much. She thought that rumors were just rumors until she proved that those weren't lies at all. Nothing occupies her mind now than the thought of leaving for good.
