Gabriel had called to tell me that the group was ready to reconvene. I knew that there was no escaping or ignoring my obligations. So, I knew I had to not only answer the phone but to attend the postponed meeting. Yet Gabriel had asked if I was with Adrik. I drew a blank on how I knew that name. Asking Gabriel made me look like a damn fool. Yet, I still couldn’t understand how I knew the name.
Then he told me that he was one of the many princes of the underworld. I could not believe that I had been paired with one of the many princes. I couldn’t tell if this was a curse or a blessing.
