Vanessa dressed quickly, feeling curiously excited about the day ahead. It was weird, but she was looking forward to spending time with Emma Jane alone. She knew Emma Jane had told them an extremely short and sanitized version of her life, but her heart broke just the same. To lose her whole family as a young girl, then to wake up blind, discover she had powers, and be trained by an old man would have been traumatic enough.
