Chapter 1

The party was in full swing. Hormonal teenage bodies writhed to the deafening music, and the lights blinked them in and out of focus. And in the center of it all danced Alexander King, shirtless with his perfectly chiseled muscles glistening with sweat and alcohol. The hottest girl in school was in his arms, her dress clinging to her perfect body as they danced. The guys around them stole glances at them filled with awe and respect. Alexander didn't have to be told to know that he wasn't just a king by name. The surrounding girls looked on with a mixture of longing and jealousy as Alexander dipped his girlfriend, Sophia, right in the middle of the dance floor and kissed her. Life was perfect, almost too perfect and Alexander liked adventure and fun. So, as they danced, he was already planning to break up with her. Sophia was hot, no doubt, but she had grown clingy and, boy, did she love to talk. Alexander grimaced just thinking about her shrill voice grating in his ear as she talked nonstop about the latest school drama that obviously revolved totally around her. "What?" Sophia pressed herself against him, jerking him back to reality. " What?" He echoed as they slowly transitioned into a slow dance as the music changed. " What's up with the face you just made? And right after kissing me... What is it? Is it my new lip gloss? Did you not like the taste....." And on and on she went. Alexander knew better than to defend himself. He knew how to keep a girl on her toes, so he smiled mysteriously, and dragged her to the stairs leading to the rooms above. " The people have had their show, now, how about we get out of here? You are killing me in this dress. " He gazed at her through his thick lashes and added a bit of a growl as he whispered close to her lips, and voilà...! He felt her physically melt into a puddle as she gave him a playful shove followed by a giggle. He smiled as he let her lead him to the room above. It was already occupied, but one look at him and the guy sprang up from the girl he was doing, and hastily dragged his scowling, annoyed girlfriend half-naked outside with him, barely giving her any time to collect her clothes. " The room is all yours, King," he murmured, hastily. Alexander recognized him too, even though he kept his face neutral. The guy who had just vacated the room for them was Scott, a sophomore who was dying for a place on the school's football team and Alexander was obviously captain. Alexander smiled as he dragged Sophia inside and shut the door behind him. He took a moment to just stare at her from head to toe. She was attractive in every sense of the word. God, I will miss her, well at least, her body. He thought to himself as he wrapped his arms around her. ************************ He dropped her a text the next morning after his hangover had stopped hammering his brain into slush. It was short but precise. " Hey, Soph. I don't think its working out between us, anymore. I am breaking up with you. But it was fun while it lasted." Then, he turned his phone off and went completely off grid and let the storm brew. He knew Sophia wasnt the type to let him off the hook that easy and their breakup was going to be the headline of school gossip on Monday morning. ********************* Sophia didnt even let him through the front door on Monday morning. She pounced on him just as he got out his electric blue convertible. " WTF ALEX!!!! YOU ARE BREAKING UP WITH ME?" Alexander grimaced against her shrill voice as his school mates slowly formed a circle around them, brandishing their phones, eyes gleaming with excitement. Alexander spotted Principal Weatherstone walking towards them from afar. That woman could smell trouble disturbingly quick but for once he was glad. Good. It will be over soon. Alexander thought, feeling relieved. He loved attention but the idea of Sophia shrieking at him this early in the morning did not appeal to him in the slightest. " Let's be adults about.... wait..." Alexander really took in her appearance this time. " Are you still wearing the dress from the party, oh my God, Soph...." Alexander let his voice trail off, trying his best to sound sympathetic. Someone in the crowd sniggered as Sophia hugged herself, subconsciously. She did look like a mess. Her dress strap was hanging off her left shoulder, her mascara ran in dark smudges from her red, swollen eyes down to her chin and her hair which were messily tied into a bun looked like a bird habitat. " Oooh, looks like Sophia went coo coo for the King," A male voice echoed around them and several laughed. Alexander gritted his teeth, too, against the chuckle that tried to force its way out. Sophia looked around her, and then at him. Her chin wobbled as she realized what walking into school looking like that would mean for her popularity. Yeah, I think she is over the breakup. Alexander thought, satisfied. Sophia was about to bolt with tears in her eyes when a voice sounded from behind him, cracking like a whip and scattering the crowd. " SOPHIA MARYANNE LOUISE! What in God's name are you wearing? Did you really just woke up and decided to walk to school in your unmentionables," Principal Weatherstone hissed at poor Sophia, whispering at the end. People around her sniggered but one look from her and a hush fell all around. " I dont even think detention will even cut it. Come with me to the office this instant. I shall have a word with your parents and put some fear of God into them. The school can do as much... " And off she went dragging Sophia by the arm. " God, I hate her, " Alexander muttered. " Yeah, but she saved your ass, this time," Dennis, Alexander's closest friend thumped his back. " My ass didnt need saving, I had it handled before Weatherstone butted in." Alexander said rolling his eyes. " That's not what the whole school's gonna say," Dennis sang, clearly pulling his leg but it irritated him, nonetheless. Alexander rarely let anyone get under his skin but he knew Dennis was right. " I wish there was a way to knock her down on her self-righteous ass for once." Dylan chimed in from behind, already trying hard to win his favour. All of them started walking towards the school building in silence, but just as they reached they reached the door, Dennis jumped. " That's it!!! There is a way to teach her a lesson!" " What?" Dylan, as eager as always while Alexander stayed silent, waiting for him to elaborate. " Why did you break up with Sophia, Alex?" Dennis said, with his eyes gleaming. Alexander sighed. " It had grown boring and monotonous and I like....." " Fun." Dennis interrupted, nodding. " Well, it will be fun all right." " Get to the point!" Alexander snapped. Dennis wrapped his big muscular arms around his shoulders and gently pulled him to the side. " Do you see that blonde girl by the lockers?" He whispered in his ear. Alexander followed his eyes to the girl by the locker. She had her back to him and her blonde hair were tied in a ponytail. Alexander let his eyes trail downwards and frowned. She was clad in a loose fitting flowery long dress that was reaching just above her ankles. " Dude, that chick is practically a nun...." Then she turned and Alexander lost his abilitu to speak. That girl was ethereal with her clear porcelain skin, big green eyes rimmed with thick lashes and full red lips. Their eyes connected briefly and he saw the most delicious shade of pink color her cheeks, before she turned around and disappeared around the hallway. " That my friend is Lydia Rose Weatherstone; Principal Weathstone's only daughter." Dennis declared, triumphantly. " Woo her, have your fun and you own the old hag."
