Run Away

Scared and angry, Kacie bravely stormed out of their house and ran to the nearest bus station. She bought a ticket to the last stop the bus would be. While sitting in the bus, staring at the window, she played the scene in the kitchen over and over. She couldn't believe her mom chose her uncle over her. Kacie fell asleep on the bus ride, she was woken by the driver. "Last stop Miss" the driver said. "Oh, thank you sir" Kacie replied. Kacie arrived in a town called St. Fil, it was 4 in the afternoon as her watch showed her. She looked around with only her backpack on her, she wondered for a little while and ended up on a beautiful beach. The water was clear, the sand was as white as the sky above, she felt relaxed, so she decided to sit there for a while and watch the waves as they come crashing to the shore. For a brief moment, Kacie forgot about all her problems and worries.     As the sun was setting, Kacie felt a little hungry, and so she decided to look for a restaurant. She walked around and found a small diner in town, she walked in, chose a table at the far end of the diner, she was looking at the menu when a waitress approached her. "Hi! What will you have?" the waitress asked. "Just a burger and water please." Kacie replied. "Alright, I'll be right back with your order" the waitress smiled and walked away. " Thank you" Kacie smiled back. With little to no money, Kacie asked the waitress "Hey, do you know a cheap place I could stay for the night?" Kacie asked. "There's a B&B about 3 blocks from here" replied the waitress. "Okay great, thanks" Kacie smiled. After dinner, Kacie walked towards the B&B and as she entered the establishment, an old lady greeted her. "Hello dear, my name is Joan, how can I help you?" the old lady greeted her with a smile. "I was just wondering how much a room would cost?" Kacie asked. "Room for one is $100 a night dear" Joan replied. Kacie reached to her pocket ang tried to count the money she had left, she didn't have enough, she only had $20 in her and some change. "I see, well okay, thanks for the information, I'll ask my friend first, I'll just come back." Kacie lied and walked back towards the beach.         The night was getting colder and Kacie was getting tired and sleepy. With no money and no place to stay, she had no choice but to sleep under the bridge, near the beach. She was shivering cold and could not sleep well but her tired mind and body allowed her to completely fall asleep into the cold night.     Kacie woke up to the sound of the waves, when she opened her eyes the water has almost reached her, so she quickly got up and started walking again. Her stomach was trembling in hunger when she came across a bakeshop, she quickly ran over and looked for cheap bread. After buying a piece of bread, she sat on a bench near the beach, trying to contemplate what her next move would be. At a distance, a man was staring at her, he was in a red pickup truck trying to get supplies at a local hardware store. Kacie didn't notice the tall, ruggedly handsome young man staring at her because she was too busy enjoying her bread. The man in the red pickup truck drove away, but somehow he can't seem to forget the woman on the bench, her long brown hair dancing along with the waves in the ocean, her red plum lips that seemed too enticing to just watch. Even from a distance he could see her curvy body that seemed to excite his imagination.         After sitting for a few hours, Kacie decided to go around town and see if she could find a job somewhere. The first thing that came into her mind was the diner, so she went over there and lucky enough, the waitress that served her last night was there. "Hi, do you remember me from last night?" Kacie asked. "Yeah, you ordered a burger and water" she replied. "Yeah, that's me. My name is Kacie" she shook the waitress's hand. "I'm Lily" she replied. "Hi Lily, can I ask you something? Are you free?" Kacie asked. "Yeah sure, what is it?" Lily replied. "Well, I just moved here, and I was wondering if there's an opening for a job here in the diner? I'm excellent with everything, I'll take any job, I can be a dishwasher even." Kacie enthusiastically said. "Oh well I don't think they're hiring" Lily replied. "Oh, that's okay. Thanks for your time, anyways got to go." Kacie embarrassingly walked away. "Kacie wait!" shouted Lily. "I think Ms. Annie mentioned that she needed someone to help her in her farm. If you're interested, I can take you to her after my shift." "Oh my God that would be great. Thank you so much."  Kacie happily embraced Lily. " Yeah no problem, meet me here at 4" said Lily. "Okay! I'll be here at 4" Kacie happily replied. On the dot, Kacie was outside the diner at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, waiting for Lily to come out. "Hey Kacie, are you ready?" Lily asked. "Definitely" Kacie replied. Lily drove Kacie to Annie Montgomery's farm just outside of town, the view going there was spectacular. Tall trees at each side of the road going to the farm, wide open spaces and a beautiful, simple, yet elegant old house at the end of the road. It was a perfectly, beautiful new place that she definitely needed. As they got out of the car, Annie came to greet them. "Lily, how are you?" asked Annie. " I'm doing great Ms Annie" replied Lilly. "What are you doing here? Did you consider my offer?" Annie jokingly asked. "No miss Annie but I did bring a friend, she needs a job and a place to stay" Lily pointing to Kacie. "Hi, Ms. Annie, my name is Kacie" she introduced herself. "Hi Kacie, I'm Annie, I own this farm. Do you know anything about farms?" Annie asked. "No, but I'm a really fast learner and I move quick" Kacie desperately replied. "Hmmm, alright then. I do need help around here now that I'm getting old" said Annie. " Thank you so much Ms. Annie, you won't regret this, I will work hard, I promise" Kacie happily uttered. "Lily, I can't thank you enough for helping me" said Kacie. "You're welcome" Lily replied. They hugged and Lily drove off, leaving Kacie at the Montgomery Farm.
