Founder's night: Arthur's commotion

1209 Words
Claire's POV I'm happy at the same time relieved that the search is over and I get to finally stop being around that jerk of arrogance. How can one person be so cocky and call stuff cheap literature as if he has even written a poem before. "But what would have happened if the egg wasn't found within the hour given?" I decide to ask out of pure curiosity and Arthur nods. "Well the egg has to be showcased to the public for a week. If not found then the previous winners will have to bring it out of hiding. They hide it again after the showcasing then the tradition continues." I nod, and I'm kinda relieved that for once he wasn't arrogant in the way he spoke. "It's a stupid family tradition, isn't it?" He suddenly adds and I roll my eyes. He can't go a minute without being arrogant, can he? "No, it's not." I say before walking away. We arrive at the place where it all began and surprisingly everyone is already there. I spot Ethan in casual clothes standing by Stephanie and I'm more relieved to see him. I assume he paired up with Stephanie upon his arrival since they were both late. Lucas and Michael look at us clearly impressed. I guess they never thought of checking the treasury. Arthur and I walk towards the queen to where Lydia and Logan also stand. He presents the egg to Katherine and she looks at it closely before nodding. "Found in 54 mins. Well done." Logan says. The worst 54 mins of my life by the way. "So which one of you wrote the poem?" Arthur asks looking at Logan and Lydia who crease their foreheads. "Don't mind him." I say to draw their attention and Lydia smiles whilst Arthur rolls his eyes. "Well done the both of you. The egg will be showcased for a week before it is given back to you to hide." I nod at the queen as she gives the egg to one of the servant who takes it away. "Now, for your request." The queen says looking at the both of us and I slightly turn to Arthur. "I'll leave it to Arthur." I say taking everyone by surprise. He is the one who desires to ask for something anyway. He turns to look at me and contemplates for a while. I leave his presence and walk over to my mate who I want to bury alive. "You didn't come on time." I whisper as I stand by him. "Will you be angry if I apologized and said I have a tangible reason." I look him in the eyes basically glaring and he chuckles. I wave at Stephanie too who smiles at me. "For my request,...." Arthur pauses and looks at Katherine whilst we all pay attention to him. "I would like a kiss, from the queen...." My eyes widen at his statement and everyone exchange confused looks. "Sorry, I meant the future queen of Artea." At that my jaws almost hit the floor and I find it difficult to move. That cunning scum bag. "You're really insane if you think I'm going to let that happen." Ethan growls and angrily walks over to Arthur. Logan thankfully steps in between them and Arthur chuckles. "I don't think you have a say, cousin." He scoffs at Ethan who angrily pushes Logan aside and lands a heavy punch on Arthur's face. Arthur stumbles back losing his balance and Logan with the help of Lucas and Michael step in again to keep Ethan back. I hear gasps when Arthur stands straight with a bloody nose. Stephanie moves closer to me and holds my hand as a way of comfort for the both of us. "Stop it!" The queen shouts calling for their attention and Arthur grins at my mate before smiling at me. "You asked for my request aunty, and I gave it." Arthur shouts a bit to a confused Katherine. "She's not going to meet your demands a*****e!" Ethan yells before turning to his mother who still looks confused. "Maa." He calls out to her. "I'm thinking." She says and he angrily pushes the guys away from him causing Arthur to chuckle. He's doing this to get to Ethan. He's playing with him, and he's enjoying it. "The rules state that as long as it's not a public nuisance you are to oblige." Arthur reminds Katherine of the rules. "She knows that." Logan growls at him surprising me. This is spiralling out of control and I can see the queen is in a tough position. "It also states in the rules that both persons in the winning pair must agree on the request together." Stephanie says drawing attention to us before she lets go of my hand and steps forward. "I don't think Claire here agreed to something like that." She says and I see a flicker of annoyance on Arthur's face before he smirks. Oh s**t! That cunning a*****e! I regretfully exhale out loud remembering that I somehow agreed to this request. "That is true." Katherine says finally glad that she has something to defend me. "I'm sorry aunty, but you see the future queen did already agree to this." Arthur says and Ethan growls again ready to pounce on him but the guys hold him back. "You lying d**k!" He yells and Arthur smirks. "How about you ask her yourself then." He says and everyone turns to me. I hold everybody's gaze but the one that is heaviest for me is my mate's. I can see how bad he wants to hear that I did not agree to this but knowing Arthur he'll probably use it another time to say I'm not fit to be a queen. "Did you agree to this, Claire?" Katherine asks and I hold in my breath. I clench my fists before staring at his stupid face. "Yes." I respond and everyone looks at me disappointed. "But I didn't know that was what he was going to ask for." I step forward and Arthur smirks again. "A deal is a deal." He says. "Not when you tricked her." Lydia yells. "It's still a deal." He says still smirking. Gosh if I could just wipe that stupid smile off his face. "I'm sorry Claire but you're going to have to honor it, as the future queen." The queen says and Ethan looks at her surprised. I nod before walking towards Arthur who smiles at me. "Claire." Ethan calls out to me with the guys holding him back. I look into his eyes which are begging me not to do this. I smile apologetically before looking back at Arthur who smirks at Ethan behind me. I take in a deep breath and place a quick kiss on his cheek least when he expects it then move back. I hear everyone sigh relieved behind me whilst Arthur looks at me amusingly surprised. He didn't specify where he wanted the kiss, and thanks to the hocus pocus he didn't get to think of it. That was my only advantage. "Are you happy now?" I ask and he smirks. "No, not quite." I glare at him before walking out on everyone.
