Chapter 27

Ivan stepped into the arena behind me and I felt the crowd buzz with anticipation. My pulse quickened as I faced him. A teasing smile tugged at the corner of my lips. “Are you ready for this?” Ivan asked, his voice low and challenging. He rolled his shoulders back and flexed the muscles in his arms. I gave him a slow, deliberate smile. “You’re the one who should be asking yourself that.” My tone was playful, but the fire in my chest was real. We circled each other for a few moments before Ivan made the first move. He lunged towards me, arms outstretched to grab hold of me, but I ducked and quickly side stepped him with ease. He stumbled forward slightly and furrowed his brow in surprise. “Oh, did you miss?” I teased as I dodged his second attempt with a swift twist of my body. I felt the heat radiating from him as he passed close to me. His eyebrows narrowed, but there was a flicker of amusement in them now. “Playing hard to get?” he asked, his tone both serious and flirtatious. “You’re going to have to try harder than that,” I taunted. He lunged again, faster this time, but I anticipated his move and dodged once more, catching him off guard with a sweep of my leg. His balance faltered and he went down to one knee, but quickly recovered. The crowd let out a cheer, impressed by my agility. I couldn’t help but grin as I moved in close, locking eyes with him. “I thought Lycans were supposed to be stronger,” I whispered, my voice dripping with challenge as I landed a double punch at his torso that knocked him back. He laughed under his breath, his eyes darkening with desire more than frustration. “You’re quick, I’ll give you that. But strength always wins in the end.” “Let’s see about that,” I replied, feeling bold. I made the next move. I feigned left, then darted right as I hooked my leg behind his knee and swept it out from under him. His eyes widened as he tilted backward, and I used the momentum against him and sent him to the ground. I moved fast to straddle his chest and pin him to the dirt with a triumphant smile. Ivan looked at me genuinely surprised. His chest rose and fell beneath me, his lips curling into a determined grin. “Not bad,” he murmured, his voice husky and hands resting on my thighs as I held him down. “Not bad?” I echoed, “I just took you down, your Highness.” “You’re right,” he said as his eyes locked on mine. “But this match isn’t over yet.” Before I could react, his strong hands gripped my hips, and with one swift motion, he flipped us over, his body now hovering over mine. I gasped in surprise as I felt his weight press against me. Then he lowered his face to mere inches from mine. The crowd had let out a cheer of approval, but all I could focus on was the heat between us. “You’re stronger than I expected,” Ivan muttered, his voice thick with amusement and innuendo. I met his gaze, breathless, but not backing down. “And you’re slower than I expected,” I retorted, smirking despite the tension in my body. “Let’s see how long you can keep that mouth going,” he whispered as he leaned into my ear. I wasn’t done yet. I shifted beneath him and used the leverage of my legs to throw him off balance again, and rolled us over once more. I was pinning him down again, my hands in his broad chest. I felt his heartbeat thrum beneath my fingers. I bounded off of him and squared myself to prepare for his next move. Without warning, Ivan hopped up and rushed me faster than I anticipated, fist aiming straight for me. Good, he stopped holding back. I ducked and his knuckles grazed the air just above me. His size was a clear advantage, but I had speed on my side. I countered with a sharp kick to his midsection, catching him square in the stomach. Ivan grunted as he stumbled back a few steps and his eyebrows raised in surprise. Clearly, he hadn’t expected me to hit that hard. But I wasn’t done. I spun on my heel and aimed a roundhouse kick to his side, but he was ready this time. He caught my leg mid-air, and yanked me off balance. I tumbled to the ground and quickly recovered in a summersalt. Before I could stand up fully, he grabbed me from behind. With a growl of frustration, I twisted in his grip and used the momentum to slam my elbow down into his gut. His grip loosened just enough for me to pull free, but Ivan recovered quickly. He came at me again, this time swinging a series of jabs that forced me to block and dodge. I ducked under another punch and landed a strike to his ribs with my fist. He grunted but didn’t back off. Instead, he took a quick side step forward to close the gap between us. His body brushed into mine as he threw my arm around my waist. He pulled me off my feet in a quick, disorienting movement. Ivan didn’t waste a second. He was on me before I could fully register what had happened, and he pinned me down with his full weight. His knees pressed into my sides as he grabbed my wrists and forced them above my head. His body hovered over mine and I felt the pressure from his loins ebb and flow against me as he breathed heavily. Our faces were inches apart and the look in his eyes stirred a low growl from my chest. I shifted my hips to grind on his d**k and felt a satisfied pulsing in return. He leaned in close to my ear, “Careful now, you’re better than I thought, but I don’t think you’ll have a chance if you continue to arouse me.” I stared up at him as blood rushed through my ears. “I’m better than you thought? Well, you’re c*ckier than I thought.” He grinned and his eyes flickered down to my lips before meeting my gaze again.” True. And it looks like I’ve got you right where I want you.” I was powerless against him. Ivan and I both stood up slowly, eyes never leaving each other, as the referee declared Ivan the winner. I vaguely heard the cheers of the crowd and I didn’t even care where Rina was or what she thought of the display. All I could focus on was the avalanche of butterflies that were tugging at my center. I could feel myself getting wetter the longer I stared at him. His nostrils flared as if he scented my desire and his expression became determined. “I need some water.” I said, never taking my eyes from him. “Me, too.” He responded quickly. “There is cold water in the house.” I said as I pointed to the pack house behind me. Ivan nodded and we both rushed towards the doorway, leaving all the comments of the crowd behind us. I rushed through the open doorway and made a sharp turn down the hallway to the right, Ivan following close behind. We passed several doorways before we arrived at the one I was headed for. I swung open the door to the rarely used conference room and then turned to face Ivan. His gaze was blazing and full of intention. We both stood there, looking at each other, neither daring to speak. The adrenaline from the fight still coursed through my veins and I needed that sensation to continue if… In an instant, our bodies came together like a ton of magnets.
