Chapter 6

Aaron "Love is chemistry" I had to talk to Brenda. I felt badly about how l left things with her. True I was now used to woman falling at my feet. Wanting to be with me. Wanting to travel the world at my side. Some loving me. Some using me. I had my pick. Brenda was right. I had kind of turned into a play boy. I blamed her for that. While I only wanted one woman, I was out trying to make myself forget the woman I wanted by being with as many women as I could. It was not working. I was so frustrated. I hated how I left things with her. I did not go after her that night I shared a kiss with her. Because if I did I was not sure I could control myself. I had waited so long. I knew it would never happen with her. I wish my heart would listen to my head. I stopped by Brenda's home. Her mother had told me she was not home. I decided to go over to where she worked. The bakery in town. It was a start. At least she could not kick me where the sun did not shine in a public place. I drive my little sports car into town. Head to the bakery. I check my messages on my phone before heading in. No word yet on getting my project back. But I had to keep hoping we would. Before it was all to late. I lock my car up after getting out of it. I could have a personal driver if I wanted to. I had the funds to. But I was in my home town. Others might not look at me the same way. I head into the bakery. The door dings with the little ringer at the top of the door. I stuff my hands in my slacks feeling a bad case of nerves come attacking me. I brush it aside. Thinking of all the woman back where I was living who flung themselves at me. That gave my mind a little ego boost. I glance around the place as my eyes scan for signs of Brenda. She was no where in sight. Maybe she was in the back cooking. The whole place smelled wonderful. I gave up sweets after high school. To work on toning my body. Working out every day. Witch right now I had not been. Due to the stress that was causing my body to ache. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Aaron?! Aaron Winters? It is true! You are back in town!" laughs my old friend Sailor. She rushes from the counter and hugs me. "How is the boyfriend? Any signs of wedding bells yet?" I joke. She shakes her head no. Then smiles. "Nope! Not a word YET. I will not give up on my man yet. After all we are expecting baby number two next spring" she brags as she touches her tummy that was hardly showing a bump yet. "Congrats! Good for you!" I tell her. "Thank you! Mr. and Mrs. Hanson are out of town. They would have loved to see you! Sorry" she tells me. "Oh, I am not here to see them" I tell her causally as I check out the cupcakes in the glass case. "Really? You are you here to see? Does her name happen to start with a B?" wonders Sailor. "Maybe" I reply acting casual. "She told me you two used to be best friends. Is that really true?" she asks me. I nod. "True!" I admit with a foolish grin. "I would never have thought you two to be friends at all" she giggles. "Why?" I ask her in wonder. "Knowing she had been cheerleader..." "And I was the geek? I know!" I sigh. "Sorry" she laughs. "Don't be" I tell her. "Brenda is not here. She had to go make a delivery. For a baby shower at one of the church's" says Sailor. "Oh, too bad" I sigh. Figured. I was never going to track her down. "What do you need? I can have her call you?" offers Sailor. "No need when she lives next door" I remind her with a grin. "True" she laughs. "So, it is true you hooked up Brenda on a date? For this Saturday?" I happen to blurt out before I could stop myself. "My boyfriends brother. Paul, he is a great man" brags Sailor. "I am sure he is great" I sigh. "Aaron maybe if you tell me something I might have something to tell you in return" mutters Sailor with a know it all smug smile. "What do you know?" I ask to know. "Something about Brenda" "I figured that. What is it?" I beg again. "Tell me this first. And maybe I will tell you" she replies. "Tell you what?" I smirk. Games. Girls and their games. They always loved mind games. "Well do you have a thing for Brenda? I mean you are coming in and asking about my dear friend" she points out. "This is not your business" I grumble. "Too bad! I happen to know a certain woman I know was all upset the other day over another certain someone being in town! Maybe not. I might have forgotten all the details" she lies. She winks at me. I sigh. "Just promise me you will NOT tell Brenda what I am about to tell you?" I beg of her. "I swear I will not tell. I will not breathe a word" she promises me. "I have always loved Brenda. For years. But I am....was a geek who did not stand a chance with her" I grumble out. "Aaron that is so sweet!" she gushes. "So, tell me what you were about to" I beg to know. "I don't know. Maybe I should let you two talk this out" she begins to say. "Come on! That was not the deal! Tell me now" I demand to know. "Fine. The other day at work Brenda was highly upset. I could tell. I asked her what made her so upset. She said at first there was some guy she was hung up on. She was upset that he was back in her life. Then when I looked at the lap top she was glancing at she was looking you up. We were trying to find out things to make you look bad. So, she would not miss you so much. She was talking about you!" brags a happy excited Sailor. I blink. That did not sound right. Brenda never wanted me. She never showed signs she wanted me. "You are sure she was looking me up?" I wonder. "Yes, I saw it. She was telling me all about how she knew you from high school. She said you two used to be best friends. That she missed that" says Sailor. That part made sense. My heart sinks. She missed her old friend was all. Nothing to get excited over. I tried not to show my pain that was eating inside of me. Brenda had said the other day she wanted to be friends like we used to be. That was all we ever were. Or was going to be. Friends. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Aaron what is wrong?" asks Sailor. "Nothing she came to me the other day. Asking me if she could be my friend again" I tell her. She nods. "Friends only" I tell her my warning sternly. "But what if it meant more?" wonders Sailor. "I doubt that. I highly doubt that" I tell her. I had a sudden idea. "Could you do me a favor? A huge one?" I ask. "Maybe" says Sailor as she grins. "Call Paul. Tell him the date was cancelled. I will go on the date. I will meet you guys there. For the date. And maybe Brenda and I can be the friends we once were. We need time to chat. Can you do that?" I ask her. I hated the idea of another man going on a date with Brenda when she was all I could think of right now. It was not fair. "Just a sec" she tells me. She grabs her phone. "Paul? Hey, the date was called off. You do not need to tell Brenda. I am working here with her. She had to call it off. We could try another night okay? Yea she wants to. Another night alright?" she was rambling on the phone to this other man. "Great thanks for understanding Paul" Then she hangs up. ♥☆♥☆♥ "It is all set" she promises me. "I owe you a huge favor" I laugh. I beam a smile at her. The door dings. We look over. Brenda comes in. She looks surprised to see me there in her work space. She walks over to me. "Need something Winters?" she asks me. "No, I came to see you actually" I tell her. She nods. "I will leave you two alone" says Sailor as she walks away to the back leaving us alone. "What is up?" asks Brenda as she places a bag on the counter. "I wanted to stop by and say I was sorry. About the past two times. You know.....we are friends. I do not want to ruin what we are trying to rebuild" I say softly to her. "Oh, I see. Thank you for apologizing" she says softly. I nod. "Is that all?" "That is all" I tell her. I text Sailor not to tell Brenda that I was her surprise date. Time would show how Brenda really felt. If we would only be friends. Of if we could be more. On this date I could show her the romantic side of Aaron. The side she never saw before. I had to have a chance, one chance to win her heart the way she won mine. It was only fair I got a chance. I could not blow it. "Thank you again for coming down here. I better get back to work" she speaks softly. I nod. "See you soon Brenda" I tell her as I smile her way. Before I walk out a soft sexy smile spreads on her face. I was excited to have a date with her. Not one she had agreed to by me asking. But it was better than nothing. I had a date with my dream girl. With Brenda.
