Powers Revealed
The boys had hatched a plan. Sitting by the living-room chair gave them the clearest view of Tem's dad. They decided they had to look as though they were doing something related to school to explain why they were hanging around in the living room on a warm September Friday evening. Tem had told his dad that Teddy's interest in crystals and rocks had grown since their visit to the museum, and asked if there was a book on rocks they could study. His dad had pulled out The Adventure Book of Rocks, which had great pictures, all in color.
The boys positioned themselves near the chair and started to browse through the book.
"What are you doing?" Tem's mom asked. "It's so inviting outside."
Tem held up the book. "We're studying a book Dad gave us."
