CHAPTER I: SEA OF STRANGERS

The passengers of the cruise prepare their selves, they gather in the front deck of the ship for departure, some are waving to their family and friends with joy.

The ship reach its destination and we made our way to a lady I think she's 2 years younger than me. I stepped to the foreign land, I sigh this is the first time to be in this place. But why I feel like a kind of familiar, what's with this place? What's the secret of this place? I was lost in my own thoughts when my father talk to the young lady. "Good morning Emma" my father's greetings to her "good Morning Mr. Davis and lady Charlotte let me help you with your luggage, I'll lead you to the carriage". She took my things and a young boy help her.

As we make our way to the Davis mansion which is my Father's hometown I slid the window curtain to see out side, the young lady father called Emma a while ago start to tell me about this place. Father at the opposite side of my sit doesn't seem to care he's busy with his newspaper.

"My lady we're near the mansion, your grandparents where excited to meet you. The Mansion is located in the best spots of the Eastland, you can see the town, the business district and the waterfalls in the backyard of the mansion. Look the mansion can see even here!" She pointed a big ancestral house in the top of a hill. As I saw the house excitement draw in my face. "Seems you're right a house in a top of a hill will be nice." She just answered me with a nod and smile. I look at my father and his still busy with his thing. "Father may I go to the water falls tommorow?" He just give me a glimpse and look at Emma in my side"why don't you explain it to her?". Emma nod and start to talk " sorry my lady but no one is allowed to be near or go to the waterfall they said it's an enchanted place there's a lot of missing people after they try to go there, not a single person comes back after they left." Curiosity hit me with her story " a enchanted place?" She nod "they'll got lost and can't find their way back, that's what all people tell." I just nod in disappointment of the idea to stroll near the waterfall.

After a couple of minutes we arrived at my grandparents Home. As I stepped outside of the carriage I was welcome by a wide greenery backyard that full of blooming flowers with bees playing along with their nectar, the cool breeze of air that make the trees dance for awhile. I smiled and whisper to my self "I feel home", I look at the door step when I saw an old couple in their seventies, Father walk straight to them and I followed him.

"Oh! My son your mother and father misses you so much" his mother hug him, they chat for a while and I just watch them saying their welcomes to my father. When the old man face me and smile " is that Charlotte! my grand daughter? Come here" I walk beside my father and gave them my respect I bow "Good Morning grandma, grandpa" when I heard my grandparents chuckle "oh! Charlotte are you hungry? Come on let's get inside. We had a lot of stuff to talk about." Grandma lead us in the receiving room while holding my arms. Their house was really a shock it's bigger than our house in North, a lot of antique stuff and paintings hanging in the wall. Their maidservant stop with their work and greet us while we pass by them, grandma make me sit beside her. The room was filled with painting and fresh Peonies, gerbera daises and Bells that made the room relaxing and colorful.

But there's one painting hooked my eyes an allurring and enchanting waterfall. " Do you like it?" Grandma ask me. "It's beautiful" I answered out of nowhere. Still eyeing the fascinating painting. I feel like it's real the water those trees seems like I could see it flowing and dancing in the breeze of air it looks like alive and doesn't look like a painting after all. "Who did this grandma? Who painted that?" I asked out of amusement of the painters piece of art.

"Charlotte come here have some tea" we both lookback at grandpa. We have some tea and talked about some things. When grandma ask about my age." How old are you now Charlotte? " "I'm turning 20 this month grandma" and sip in my tea cup, grandma just smiled at me and talked back again with father. After that chitchats they let me have some rest before the lunch. "Emma! Please bring my granddaughter to her chamber to have some rest." And I saw Emma running to me " yes madam, my lady this way please" and I follow her to the end of corridor in the second floor of the house. We stand in the front of a victorian double door, Emma enter the room and I follow her after a couple of minutes.

My eyes roam inside the room I saw a queen size bed, paintings and a whole body mirror. I saw my luggage near the wardrobe, and a balcony. My feet bring me in the balcony i close my eyes to feel the cold breeze when I heard a rapid flow of water, I open my eyes and witness the enchanting waterfall. "Emma! Is that what you're talking about in the way? The enchanted place?" She looked at the balcony and saw what I'm talking about. "Yes my lady! That's the enchanted waterfall, it's beautiful yet dangerous" she said and bid her good bye before she left. I lay in my bed after she left and fall asleep. A knock wake me up. "My lady their waiting for you in the dinning room" I fix my self and leave my chamber.

At the dinning table their are six unfamiliar faces that will join us," come here Charlotte let me introduce you to our family this is your Aunt Meldri and uncle Andrey, that two Young lad is your cousins the youngest one is Cloe and his older brother kelv. And of course those two girls beside your father is your aunt's as well the twin." I just nod and smile to them after grandma's long introduction I just focus at my food while they were all busy with their chitchats, I bid my goodbye after I finish ate my food to get some rest in my bedchamber.

I opened the glass door in my balcony to hear the rapid flow of water that make me relax for awhile and I close my eyes to enjoy it.

"Water bring lives to nature as for you." I opened my eyes and saw Cloe beside me staring straight to the water fall. " Pardon for invading your privacy cousin" I just smiled and he smiled back still eyeing the fascinating waterfall. "Do you want to hear some story?" He said "a story about what?" I said and he look at me with a mysterious smile. "It's titled The Secret of Eastland" and Suddenly we heard a loud crash we both look at each other and run fast outside my room.
