Rusalka Inn, Romania
Thunder echoed over the mountains. The red ball of setting sun faded behind a storm cloud and disappeared as if someone had thrown a rock at a streetlight. A mountain thundercloud took shape overhead. Yet another storm approached.
Elena went into the cabin, took out her cell phone from her handbag, and checked the batteries. Good. Then she took out her laptop and checked her email.
