Dkany Monastery
The unique thing about Dkany Monastery was the reason for its being. Providing protection against foreign invaders, the monastery housed the church, its offices, dormitories, vast library, restaurant, and a clinic for the Dkany townsfolk.
A chain still enacted the clanging of the doorbell inside, as it had for centuries. A gatekeeper dressed in black robes came out of the round guardhouse, opened the gate, and signaled them to pass through to the parking lot. When they drove through the gate, Elena couldn’t believe the artwork on the side of the building. The exterior walls were painted with action scenes taken from the bible. They blended into other Transylvanian landscapes, giving the impression bible characters could step from the church into the Carpathian
