Chapter Four: The Unexpected

1622 Words
Lucas couldn't take his mind off the fact that Rosa looked quite unhappy when he saw her earlier. Rosa never had a gloomy attitude at work and Lucas was not ready to make the scene slide. The day was far gone and Rosa was about to head home to Lilian. “Can we talk?” She heard a voice a few distance from her. It was none other than Lucas. She was scared to her wits but then she really wanted to talk to get things off her chest. “Yes sir. We can talk if you want that.” Rosa replied politely. “Don't call me sir, this is just us. I am Lucas. Just get into the car.” Rosa did as instructed and he drove her to a reserved cabin. She had never been to such a place before. It looked so beautiful and magical like in the movies. “Woah! What's this place? It must cost a fortune.” She said in an astonishing way. “Well, it's one of the Blackwood's properties. We have many beautiful locations like this within the city. Glad you like it.” Lucas stated, feeling pleased that the sight of the cabin seemed to lighten Rosa's energy up. They went into the cabin and they sat by the table while two ushers came in with some delicacies. He knew giving a menu to Rosa to pick a meal can be quite embarrassing, knowing she may not have done that in her lifetime. He made the choice of food and all the preparations before he brought her to the Cabin. Rosa sighed at the food “This is a lot.” They had a little review on the food as they began to eat together. “Rosa.. I think I am in love with you.” Rosa choked on hearing his words. “I really do love you, Rosa. I can't really say how it happened. You know, being me, my kind of personality and my past. But here I am deeply in love with you.” Lucas fixed his eyes on Rosa's like he was looking into her soul. Rosa felt an atmosphere of gladness hover around her on hearing him speak, then it all blew out like a candle that was once burning before the wind blew it off. “No Lucas, I can't do this.” Rosa blotted out. “Why Rosa, what's the matter? I know you love me too. I could see it in your eyes.” Lucas immediately reached for her hands. Rosa said nothing, she was quite short of words. The thought of Thaila and losing her job kept flashing through her mind. “Rosa, tell me what's going on?” Lucas said in a loud tone. “Lucas I…I really don't want problems with your family.” Rosa spilled. “My family? I don't understand, Rosa.” “I mean your sister, she threatened me at the bar earlier this morning. I don't want to lose my job please.” Rosa pleaded. “Thaila?!” Lucas was almost getting furious. “Yes please, you really have to understand.” Tears gathered Rosa's eyes as she said the words. Lucas burst into laughter “Thaila!” Rosa was confused “why are you laughing?” Lucas made her understand that Thaila was never a problem. In fact she can not sack her without his notice. He is the main person running the bar business, Thaila is just entitled to a part of the profits. Rosa felt a great sense of relief, she got to see things clearer. They began to talk in depth and the intensity in the room increased by the moment. “Rosa, I want a life with you. Please don't say no. I will protect you at all costs. Would give you the best life I promise” Lucas promised. He continued promising Rosa of the life he wants for her and her little sister. All he wanted was for her to affirm her feelings for him too. “I love you, Lucas. I truly do.” Rosa felt butterflies in her stomach as Lucas drew closer to her and stroked her check with his fingers. Rosa felt a kind of heat rise from within her as Lucas drew her close. They looked into each other's eyes for a moment, before Lucas initiated a deep kiss. Beautifully how it started like a mere kiss that never wanted to end. It intensified and they didn't want to lose grip of each other and that was the last thing they could take control of as they journeyed into s****l exploration. They had a steamy night s*x, a type that Rosa couldn't resist. They got locked into each other over the night till dawn when they finally slept. It was morning around 5:30 am, Rosa woke Lucas up almost immediately she came to a realization that she had stayed in the cabin overnight and Lilian was the only one home. “My sister, how could I have forgotten?” Rosa felt bad about it and really wanted to go home to Lilian. Her and Lucas got out of bed, dressed up as soon as possible and left the cabin. “Are you good?” Lucas asked in concern, seeing that Rosa hasn't said a word since they entered the car. “I am good Lucas, just thinking about my little sister.” Rosa immediately replied. “I totally understand, what about last night?” Lucas asked, giving Rosa a wink. Rosa blushed on hearing that “I enjoyed the moment Lucas and all the promises you made to me. I hold them dearly to my heart. Thank you for choosing to love me.” They got to Rosa's street and she decided to highlight from the car to avoid Lucas seeing her apartment. She still felt ashamed of her apartment regardless. “I would love to see your home someday!” Lucas said as Rosa got down from his car. He watched her walk down the street before he turned and drove off to his family mansion. As he was about to enter his room, his phone began to ring. “Who could be calling?” He murmured as he checked his phone. It was a Russian number. “Hello, am I unto Mr Lucas Blackwood?” The dialer asked. “Yes, who am I speaking with?” Lucas asked with more concern. “I am the manager of Rexie bar and suites. You reached out to our company for a partnership deal of two years or more and I called to inform you that it has been accepted. But you would have to come down to Russia as soon as possible to finalise the agreement in person.” Lucas was so happy with the news, he just couldn't wait to share it with everyone, especially Rosa. “Are you there, sir?” The manager asked. “Yes..yes I will be taking the next flight to Russia. I will be there in a few hours.” The manager hung up the call and Lucas was so overwhelmed with excitement. He went to wake his siblings up, he just wanted to share the good news with them. Thaila found it amazing, beyond the news she felt it was a perfect way for her brother and Rosa's connection to end. She was in full support. They all got to work in assisting Lucas pack his luggages, book his flight and assist in so many areas. “I need to tell Rosa about my departure before I head to the airport. She deserves to see me before I leave.” Lucas said. “It's really good news.” Thaila said as she excused herself. Thaila immediately reached out to the manager of the bar telling him to inform Rosa, she has a day off work. She felt that's the best way to do it, so it won't be traced to her. Lucas couldn't wait to see Rosa as he rushed to the bar at the brightness of the morning, his heart racing, only to find Rosa absent. He saw no trace of Rosa, he found that strange but he felt she was safe regardless, probably just stressed from the night's experience that they had together. Lucas reached out to the receptionist. “Seen Rosa today?” he asked. “She’s off today,” the receptionist shrugged. Running out of time, he wrote her a letter, pouring his heart onto the page. Wrote a means of communication in the letter seeing that he didn't have a means of communicating with Rosa unless she communicated with him first. Thaila made it so, so everyone was just following her orders. He handed it to Thalia. “Make sure she gets this.” Thalia smiled. “Of course, brother.” “And assist Marcus in taking care of the bar till I am back.” Lucas said as he gently walked out of the bar and headed to the airport. The letter never reached Rosa. Lucas was gone and Rosa was left unaware. Rosa arrived at the bar the next day in so much excitement, she waited to see Lucas but found no trace of him. No one said anything about Lucas departure, they were all silent like none witnessed him leave. Days turned to weeks and no sign of Lucas. Rosa became heartbroken and confused. She felt used by Lucas. Like he really didn't care about her, everything was a lie just to get in-between her legs. She felt deceived and awful. No messages. No calls. She was crushed. Then Marcus resumed overseeing the affairs of the bar. And everything went wrong.
