Chapter 10 – The Greatest Show
On the Saturday after Eva is released from the clinic, their neighbours invite her and Jana over for dinner. Janet jokes that the last time they invited Eva for dinner she ended up in the clinic. Margaret, who is the cook of the two, gives her an exasperated look. ‘You know well that my cooking had nothing to do with her visit to the medics. She never even made it to dinner.'
'Perhaps she lost the match on purpose to avoid your cooking.'
