“Verena! Offering me a Job?” Marie murmured as she shifted a bit from her grandma. “She sure has a lot of performance to put up,” she scoffs. She dialed her number, for the first time she decided to speak some sense into her since she's been quiet all along. “You sure have a lot of spare time to track me! Even to monitor me all around the city,” she said through the call, tapping her legs on the floor. “See who decided to talk, I thought you would be mute like forever?” Verena's voice dropped from the other end. “Okay, I am being nice here! Offering you a job so you could be useful and not use all your time to seduce him(Vincent),” she said, clearing her throat like she just said something unusual. Marie was stunned with her allegations, “seduce who! For real! Your thoughts are wild and besides I don't have time for this,” she fired at her and ended the call without letting her say anymore words. “This lady is an asshole for real, she vomits nonsense surely. No wonder she is the only one fighting,” she said and hissed loudly that drew her mom's attention, but she waved it and said it's actually nothing. _ _ _ A few days later, Marbel arrived in town. Marie took it upon herself to show her around and make her settle. “Girl, I've missed you a whole lot, tell me what exactly happened? How are some of the staff coping?” Marie asked her as they rode down to the house. “It wasn't really funny, the whole hell was let loose, some insisted for a compensation or for months notice, but guess what? They were bashed!” She exclaimed, shaking her head profusely. “Ahh, that's so cruel! I mean there are many good staff members there! They can just recruit, maybe go through their own specified interviews and all that!” Marie cried before the ride dropped at the front of the location. “This place should be a bit dusty and unkept, that gives a whole heavy but I will help you out since grandma is taking care of Morris.” She concluded, assisting her to unpack her loads. “Really! This environment is so beautiful and calm! I love it already,” Marbel said smiling broadly. They unpacked, arrange and clean the house, making it spackle again. Marbel rushed and prepared some pancakes and coffee, which they ate and Marie left for that day. The next day, Marbel woke up to a loud knock on the door. She had overslept because of the previous day's stress. “Oh my goodness! Who is banging on my door this early morning, who else knows me here,” she thought as she went to open the door slowly. “Auntie Marbel!” Morris shouted as the door opened. “Oh my baby!” Marbel called out as she opened the door widely and carried him in her arms. “Oh girl! You didn't tell me you were coming, I was literally afraid this morning, asking who could be knocking so hard on my door.” Marbel exclaimed as she raised Morris in excitement. “I've missed you so much my baby, everything I call to speak with you, ur mom always says u are not around,” she said smiling to Morris who was laughing and biting his fingers. “So I should stand here and watch your lovey dovey characters,” Marie burst into a thunderous laughter. “Please get out of the way, let me go inside! You guys can sleep here,” she said jokingly as she entered the house. Marbel followed her behind. “Girl! You are so jealous,” she said laughing with Morris. “I've heard you because I brought him here! Right? Please prepare fast, let's tour you around,” Marie said smiling at them. “Oh!” Marbel rushed as she put Morris down to a seat and excused herself for a while. She came back with some snacks for them and Morris jumped in excitement. “Please keep yourselves busy till am done,” she said as she handed them over to Morris. She rushed back inside brushed and took a quick bath. In few minutes time, she was out already. “Let's go, am done here,” she said and Marie looked her from head to toe. Just as they stepped out, Marie paused. “Wait! What the hell are you doing here,” she fired trying to be neutral but not smiling. Before she could land Morris already jumped out to embrace him. “Uncle Vincent!” He screamed in excitement. Vincent opened his hands in embrace and Morris jumped in. He carried him up and smiled. Marie gave Morris a deadly look which made him panic in fear. “Fine, I just saw you leave the house early! Just wanted to be sure that you and ur baby are fine,” he said as he waved to Marbel in greetings and she greeted back. Marbel could remember the resemblance from the screen. So she didn't need to ask much question “that is Morris Father answering, Uncle Vincent,” she thought to herself as she smiled a little. “Fine! Where are you guys going, I will spare time and give you a ride,” Vincent said gently and softly as even. Marie smirked loudly, “ please keep ur spare time to urself, Morris come down immediately,” she shot at him. “Come on Marie, that was too harsh, it's just a ride and we will continue our stuff,” Marbel cut in sharply but softly. Marie turned to her, blinking her eyes profusely. “Seriously! Are you the one saying this,” she said to Marbel raising an eyebrow. Marbel nodded and shoved her shoulders in agreement. Vincent stood there smiling at them both while Morris watched closely. Vincent felt a little happiness within him. He has probably found someone who can't actually talk into Marie's ears and she hears. Marbel walked towards Vincent's direction, “can I enter,” she asked as she turns back to look towards Marie's direction nudging her to come forward. “Yes, please,” Vincent nodded quickly. Marie was stunned. Marbel just ruined her composure.
