“I hope it's not what I'm thinking,” Marbel murmured to herself, her heart racing instantly, as she turned to stare at Stella who gave her a confused look.
“So dramatic! You look like you would pass out right now!” Stella said, waving her head, as she walked away from Marbel. Marbel picked up her phone and dialed Marie's number immediately. She wasn't sure of what she heard but at least, a message needs to be passed.
“Hey……I think you are being stalked and monitored!” Marbel spoke, immediately Marie picked up her call. “Look, I don't know what it is exactly but, I think it's all set up. You need to be careful from now on, I'm afraid but she has something to do with this whole s**t!” Marbel said quietly, looking around to make sure no one was looking her way.
“Yeah, I think so too! I called her not quite long,” Marie scoffed through her words.
“What! Girl, you have some balls there, you already called her?” Marbel asked surprisingly.
“Hey, I need to give her a forehand warning. She is going too far for a man who doesn't even care about her, for real girl!” Marie blurted out, shaking her head worriedly. “I just hope this doesn't escalate like she planned, because I'm not ready to prove anything, and besides she will be obviously shocked at the real truth.” Marie smirked, raising her eyebrows.
“That b***h is not ready for the kind of s**t she is pulling,” Marie hissed loudly.
“Hey, she is here. Let's talk later,” Marbel ended the call immediately, even before Marie could reply.
Marie held her phone tightly, her other fist tightening. She exhaled heavily and continued her work.
When Marie closed for work, Vincent noticed she had been restless for the whole day, but he couldn't confront her for questions.
“Hey……if…you are done, I can take you home,” Vincent stammered, Marie was absent minded, she was so lost in thought that she didn't even notice someone was saying something. “Hey,” Vincent called out again but there was no response from her. “Hey, Marie!” Vincent shouted, touching her arm. That was when Marie snapped out of her thoughts and looked at him.
“Are you okay?” Vincent asked with a concerned look.
“Sorry! Did you say something before?” Marie asked, ignoring his question.
“I said I could take you home, if you are done with work. We could get dinner if you don't mind,” Vincent smiled lightly.
“Who is Smiling with you,” Marie murmured and rolled her eyes. “Please, take me home,” she said quietly and walked towards the car.
Vincent was surprised, “did she just agree to that, without arguments and battle,” he thought to himself as he followed her behind. “Something is definitely going on, but she wouldn't tell me still,” he muttered, tucking his left hand inside his pocket.
Marie was already seated in the car looking out the window in deep thoughts. Vincent didn't ask any further questions and drove home straight.
They got home, and before Marie could step out of the car. Her phone buzzed, she saw a message notification. She opened it immediately and it was the same number as before.
“I'm not sure if you want this the hard way, brace yourself,” the message read. Marie quickly hid her phone to avoid Vincent seeing the message. She stepped down from the car and rushed in without a word.
“Screw you and whoever sent you, don't play this game with me. I promise you, this is f****d up already,” she sent a warning message to the number, on her way to her room. She paused for a while, thinking on whether to inform her mom about this whole thing or just handle it her own way. She just went into her room and locked the door.
Vincent came down from the car, his eyes fixed at the hallway, where Marie had gone into. He went into the sitting room to meet Morris and Mrs Lawrence.
“Hello uncle, where is mummy?” Morris asked, running into the arms of Vincent.
“Mommy will be with you shortly,” he replied, smiling broadly. “Hello, Mrs Lawrence,” he bowed in greetings towards Marie's mom.
“Hello dear, welcome,” Mrs Lawrence replied with a smile. “Marie, didn't come home with you?”
“I'm here mommy!” Marie cut them short of their discussion.
“Mommy!” Morris screamed, climbing down from Vincent's hands and jumping into her mother's arms.
“My baby! Mommy missed you so much,” Marie said as she waved at her mom in greeting. Vincent went straight to his room, leaving them in the sitting room.

“Marie! Wake up,” Marie heard her mother knocking on the door. It was just early hours of the morning.
“Ooooh, mommy!” She hissed under her breath. She woke up to Morris who was sleeping peacefully on top of her. She smiled then glared at the door again, “why would her mom be knocking at her room by this time of the morning,” she thought to herself, stretching her body. She placed Morris quietly on the other side of the bed, and climbed down.
She opened the door slowly, “ Mommy, what is it this early morning,” she asked, scratching her head and wiping her eyes.
“Is that supposed to be a greeting or a query? Anyways you have a visitor!” Her mom said and turned to leave.
“A visitor? By this time? What the hell! They don't sleep at home or what? But, wait?” She blabbed and her mother paused for a while. “I don't know anyone around here, so how come I have a visitor? Or is it Derek? It's too early for him to visit even if he wants to.”
“I think you should head out and see for yourself,” her mom cut her short and walked out.
Marie bent her leg on the door, placing her left hand on her waist, “Derek would call me before coming, or even talk to me about it,” she muttered to herself. But after a while, her eyes widened in shock.
“No! Hell no! It can't be!” She badged inside, grabbed a jacket and stormed out.
