Marie stood at the door quietly without making a noise. Immediately she heard Mr Alessio's footsteps. She rushed back immediately.
Vincent sat down there in confusion, his father had sounded more serious and threatening than ever. “Father! He called out before he could reach the door. His father paused roughly as if he was being forced to stop.
“I have always loved someone else and Verena knew about it!” He blurted out, his father laughed loudly.
“I'm not against you loving someone else! But, I am against you keeping her by your side for a long time, knowing fully well that she is dangerous and desperate! I clearly pity whomever that is, you love because Verena would definitely come for her.” his father fired and finally left. Mrs Lawrence followed him immediately. Vincent was left all alone in the room to think about his damn life.
Marie heard that loud and clear, “who could his loved one be? Hope it's not what I'm thinking?” She questioned herself as she went back to her room. She picked up her phone to call Marbel, she hasn't spoken with her for a long time.
“Hey! My workaholic CEO!” She called out on the phone, laughing her ribs out. Marbel laughed too from her end.
“Girl! You wouldn't want to imagine! That work is becoming stressful and draining, as each day passes!” Marbel cried out. Marie could hear the deep emotions in her voice.
“I understand, my first day was literally challenging but I won't back down. Just calm down and manage them. If they become too toxic, better quit the job instead.” Marie encouraged her, sounding so concerned and sweet. She knows how Verena can be, she could have really passed her aggressions on her.
“Thank you girl for this piece! It just lightened up my mood,” Marbel exhaled loudly and Marie could hear it from her end on that phone.
“Guess what, baby?” Marie exclaimed with joy. Marbel scoffed, cleared her throat and ears like it would stop her from hearing the full gist.
“Tell me girl! You know I'm not good with guessing? Just tell me already!” She chuckled on the phone and Marie laughed. Marie had wanted to tell her about his new man, but on a second thought she decided to keep mute till it all works out.
“Oh! Was just pulling your legs! You love gist too much,” Marie covered up. She could hear Marbel hiss on the phone though not loudly. She has learned to keep things to herself more, the moment Marbel began to work with Verena. She decided to be careful with their friendship, not cutting her off entirely but guarding her words. Because she knew Verena can be manipulative enough to pull words out of her mouth.
“Girl! I will call you back,” Marie said quickly and hung up the call. She heard a series of knocks on the door.
“What the hell are you doing here, shouldn't you be fixing your relationship or maybe sealing it up?” She yelled quietly at Vincent who stood at her door like a child, running to her mother for comfort. Marie noticed a weak look on his face, her heart skipped a bit.
“Can I at least come inside, please?” Vincent pleaded with a baby voice, his voice slow and gentle. Marie couldn't refuse his request at that moment. Something flickered across his face, an expression so unreadable. Marie opened the door a bit widely and Vincent entered. Smiling at Morris' body lying peacefully on the bed.
“Such a peaceful boy! See the way he is sleeping so comfortably like he is free of troubles!” Vincent chuckled, turning his gaze back to Marie, who didn't even shake one but.
“Of course! He is free from troubles and drama or do you want to be a problem for him?” She retorted back immediately, making Vincent stare at her deeply. Marie was so uncomfortable with his looks. “See, say whatever you want to say and leave, please!” She muttered, scratching her back.
“You hate me that much! You so desperately want to break this remaining bond between….”
“Huh! Hold on, before you continue. There is absolutely no bond between, all these are just your illusions. We are family and that is it, so please correct your sentence!” She cut him short. She was beginning to feel uncomfortable at this point. She knows she kinda still wants him, but she would rather die than admit such a thing.
“Oh please!” He blurted out as he stood from the bed he sat, and moved close to Marie who shifted back a little. “Swear! You don't love me anymore?” He muttered, still moving close to her. She backed out until she was on the wall. Vincent still came too close, his hands above her head. “Swear, you don't miss me like I do every single day?” He continued, placing his other hands on her jaw.
Marie locked her eyes in his, hot sweat running down her forehead. She forced her composure but it failed. She was helpless at this moment, because she yearned for him badly.
“Look into my eyes and tell me, you don't want me anymore!” Vincent whispered, burning his eyes into hers. His eyes moved down to her lips, glaring at it hungrily.
“Get out!” Marie shot at him. “Get the hell out of my room! It's so easy for you!” She backed, pushing him but his chest was too stiff, and wasn't moving an inch away.
Morris coughed continuously, “get the f**k out!” She growled. This time he stepped back, running his hands through his head.
“I won't stop, you are f*****g mine alone!” He retorted and left.
