She couldn’t scream. She let out a long, whining, sobbing moan, and tried to back out of the tunnel.
She was stuck. She could not move her arms down below her shoulders to push. Her elbows hit the walls. There was only smooth metal for her feet to kick against.
“Father, help me. Help me…”
She sobbed, tears running down her face, while her whole body trembled uncontrollably, from terror, from the cold.
After a while she managed to wriggle backwards a little, pushing the metal away with her fingers. It seemed like hours before she had enough room to move her arms. Still the endless weight of the tunnel pressed on her, and she felt herself suffocating. She breathed desperately, hissing through her teeth.
She began to crawl backwards, screaming wildly, incoherently, without even syllables
