Chapter 2- Unwanted Guests

3056 Words
Eric I can’t believe that fucker will be marrying Chantal, this weekend. And he is expecting me to bring a date when he knows I don’t date? And how dare he, not tell me himself, but tells his PA to do so? He is probably doing it on purpose. I decide to ignore the E-Mail his PA sent me and call him myself. I pick up my phone and find Jake’s number. I call him. After the second ring, it goes to voicemail. He is either ignoring me, or he is in a meeting. Whatever. He will call back. I look at the time, 1:59 pm. My sister will be here any second now. My doors open at 2 pm sharp. I look towards the door and there is my little sister. She is glowing today. Her brown hair falls above her shoulders and her green-brown eyes are behind sunglasses. She smiles at me, all teeth, and comes running towards me. “Ricky. I missed you, you prick.” I scowl at her. “Watch your language,” I warn her and give her a big, bear hug. I missed my sister. “Shut up. How are you holding up? Is everything okay?” she knows something is bothering me. “Jake is getting married. His PA informed me per E-Mail.” “That bastard. I will kill him, but after I give you the news.” She was jumping up and down and laughing. I thought she would fall because of the high heels, but this is my sister. She was practically grown in high heels. “Well then, tell me.” I couldn’t help but return her radiant smile. She always brings out the good in me. She giggles again and brings up her left hand to show me the ring on her finger. No s**t. Boyce proposed to her?  “Did Boyce propose to you?” “Yes!” she yelled with laughter and gave me another hug. This time it was me who could not breathe. “Took him long enough.” I arched my brow and looked at her. She is happy. Happier than I have ever seen before. My sister is engaged. Now that is something to celebrate for. “Are you happy about us, or will you stay like that for the rest of the evening, Eric?” her expression changed immediately. She is so weird and annoying and mercurial, but she is my baby sister. “Of course, I am happy. Congratulations! I will call Boyce and congratulate him myself.” “You don’t need to.” I heard a manly voice coming from across the room. Then I saw Boyce coming in, with a large bunch of flowers. “Hello, you two,” Boyce said with a lovely voice, who I suppose was more directed to Angel. “Boyce.” Angel ran straight to him and hugged him. “Hello, my little Angel. I thought I would surprise you. And you.” He said looking at me. “Those for me?” I asked him. Both him and Angel burst into laughs. “Sure, if you want them.”  He smiled and let the flowers on the small table on his right. “What is going on?” he knows me too well. He just like Angel knows me like the back of his hand. “Jake is getting married and he didn’t tell Eric personally. He had his PA send him an E-Mail.” “The bastard. It was time he got married. He made poor Chantal suffer this long.” “Boyce,” Angel warned. She is a small bossy lady. “What? It’s the truth. Ask Eric.” He pointed at me with his chin and Angel turned around, arms crossed across her chest and her face red. “Leave your anger at home, Angel. Boyce is right. He tortured the poor woman. We all know that.” “Well, you both know how important his family is to him. And she had to understand that, right?” “She did. But he never assured her, that he would be by her side. He mostly never called when he flew to Finland to watch over his mother.” “Look, boys. It is none of your business. They are getting married. That is all that matters. Now leave some gossip for the girls and get back to work.” As I said, bossy. “Angel, I need to discuss something with Boyce in private. If you, please could wait in the Guest Room. I will let Alexandra know if you’d like.” “Are you keeping secrets from me?” she looked at Boyce. “I have no idea, what he wants to talk about.” He shrugged and gave Angel a kiss on the forehead. “Angel please,” I ordered and she knows I don’t have the patience to play games. Even if it is with my sister. “Alright. I will go. I will be in the Guest Room.” She kissed Boyce and left. Luckily closed the door behind her. “What is it, Eric? Something with the companies?” he looked worried. “It has nothing to do with work. Jake wants me to bring a date. He says I must bring a girl with me. You know I don’t do dates. Could you please help me?” I sound ridiculous. “Sure. I have a friend who will be willing to help. When is the wedding?” “This Saturday.” “Ugh. She is in Chicago until next week. I will try to find someone. Don’t worry.” “Thank you. When did you propose to Angel?” “Yesterday.” “You could have told me.” “I know, but I wanted to keep it a secret from everyone. It went well. She cried and laughed for almost two hours. Thank God I love her.” I laughed at his response. Yes, my sister is a pain in the ass. “Be careful, or I will kill you. You know that.” I warned him, but he knew I was joking as well. Boyce is the perfect guy for my sister. “I know.” He put his hands in the air like he is surrendering. “What are your plans tonight?” he asked me, leaving the jokes behind. “I have a meeting at 5 pm with the board. Then I plan on going home. Now I am supposed to go to lunch with Angel at La Pergola. You are welcome to join us.” “I would, but I have a meeting in an hour. I must leave. Important stuff to discuss about the new cargo.” “Is everything okay?” “Yes and no. We are having some trouble with the new ship from Germany. I have to contact them and let them know.” “If you need help, I am a phone call away.” “Thank you, brother. I must head now. I will let you know about your date.” I wanted to correct him, but then I nodded, and he left. I press the S button on my desk phone and Alexandra answers immediately. “Alexandra, tell my sister to come to my office. We are leaving for lunch at La Pergola, in 5 minutes.” “Yes, sir.” I hang up. I look at my E-Mails and see I have another one from Jake’s PA.   ‘Sir, Eric Massimo. The wedding is next Saturday. It was a mistake from my side. Good day, sir. Samantha Ross, Personal Assistant of Jake Hayward.’    I was somehow relieved. I have time to find me a date, who isn’t actually a date. I reply to the E-Mail.   ‘Miss Ross. Thank you. Eric Massimo. CEO, of Massimo Holdings, E-A Corporate.’   I shut down my notebook and my sister comes in. She is pale and hurt is written all over her face. What the hell happened to her? “Angel are you okay?” I walk towards her. “Mom is here.” she spat. f**k, please tell me she didn’t come with that piece of s**t she calls husband. “Is he with her?” She knows I mean Giorgio. I don’t even want to spell out his name. “Yes.” I close my eyes and run my hands through my hair. f**k this. I rush through the door. I f*****g hate my mother and her rat. She knows she isn’t welcomed here. “Eric, stop.” My sister shouted at me. I found my mother standing in front of the elevator with Giorgio. “Son.” Her voice was full of hope. “What are you doing here?” I said to her, my voice harsh and loud. “Don’t you talk to your mother like that, Eric.” Giorgio defended her. “You stay out of this Giorgio. I am talking to Valencia.” “Eric. Stop this nonsense. Mother, why did you come here? After what you did, you are not welcomed here.” “Angel, I need your help. I need both your help.” “I don’t care. Go get it somewhere else. We are done helping you. Get lost, or I will call security.” I couldn’t stand her presence. Not after what she did last time. “You can’t be so heartless with your mother, Eric. Deep down you know, you love me.” “Alexandra call security. Now.” I shouted at her. s**t, she is making me lose my temper. “You know it was not your mother’s fault for what happened. You cannot blame her.” “You better shut your mouth and leave my building. Never, and I repeat never, step foot on my building again.” “Let’s go, Valencia. You don’t need your bastard son.” “Watch your mouth. Unless you want your ass out of the window.” Angel said. “I don’t understand, why you still talk to your kids. They are nothing but bad blood.” I couldn’t stand it anymore. I walked towards him, ready to hit him when I felt Angel’s hands on my arm. She is stopping me from hitting the bastard. And I know it is the right thing to do. “He is not worth your effort. Let him. He is nothing but a bug.” My mother’s eyes were filled with tears. A few years back, I would take her in my arms, but now I don’t give a s**t. She doesn’t deserve our love. “Why do you hate me so much?” she asked. “Go ask your ex-husband. Oh, wait. You can’t. He is dead.” Angel was pissed off. Damn, that is some attitude. “I didn’t do anything to him. Stop it you two. You keep blaming me for his overdose when it wasn’t even me who gave the drugs to him.” “We know very well who gave it to him. We have proof you can’t deny.” I said to her. She turned white and I know, she knows what I mean. “You are bluffing.” “Oh, so you want to see the footage? I have it in my office. I can show it to you if you’d like.” “What footage?” her expression was screaming 'What the f*ck'. This is what you get when you are a coldhearted b***h.  “Oh, so you don’t know. Eric what do you think, do we show her, or do we let her leave. Again.” Angel was smirking and when it comes to smirking, she doesn’t hold back anymore. You either run or die. “You are both bluffing. There is no footage. I made sure of that.” she gasped and put her hand in front of her mouth. “You gold-digging b*tch. I knew it was you.” Angel said. “Good one, Valencia. Thank you for your confession.” “No, I didn’t confess anything. You tricked me.” “You tell that to the judge, Valencia. Get the hell out of my building. Dural, Mike, please show them out. They are in the forbidden list.” “Yes sir.” They both said and escorted Valencia and Giorgio out. “Alexandra, how did they manage to get in?” “The receptionist, Lena Dittan, was asked to attend the meeting of Mr. Harold. There was supposed to be someone else, in the reception, but there was no one.” “Who was supposed to be there?” “Aria Francis, sir.” “She is fired. Find someone else, to fill for Aria. I don’t want another scene in my building.” “Of course, sir.” Angel and I headed to my office and I tried to calm down. The confession of my mother was the last stroke. I knew it was her. “Eric, maybe she was in a bathroom break. Why fire her without even asking her, what she was doing at the time?” Is she really doing this? “Angel don’t tell me how to run my company and how to manage the staff. You take care of your own, small business.” “Don’t you talk to me like that, Eric. I don’t give a s**t if you are older than me. You show me respect because I am your sister.” “Angel, stop this now,” I demanded. “You are taking your anger out on me. Grow up and pull your s**t together.” “Oh, is that right, Mr. I know everything?” “Angel please, stop. I don’t want to do this right now. I had enough with our mother, leave me in peace.” “Leave you in peace? You became a mess since father died. You don’t let anyone approach you. You treat women like garbage. Not every woman is a gold digger and a b***h like our mother was and is. Don’t you get that?” “Angel stop! I don’t want to talk about this. Leave me alone.” I love my sister, but she doesn’t know when to stop talking. “As you please. Goodbye.” She turned around and left. I can't stand this anymore. I need a distraction. I contact with Alexandra. “Sir?” “Alexandra, I won’t be attending the meeting today. Have Marina de Luca attend in my place.” “Will do sir.” I hang up, clear my desk, and head out. I think of going to a bar. I call Sanders. “Sir.”  “Sanders I am done for today.” “Will be there in 10 minutes sir.” “Good.” I head out and take the elevator. This day couldn’t get any worse. The elevator stops on the first floor and I get out as soon as the doors open. I get out of the building. It isn’t raining, thankfully. I thought it could do me some good if I walked for a minute or two, but then I see Sanders park in front of the building. That wasn’t 10 minutes. I open the front door and climb in. “No traffic, sir.” “I figured.” “Where to, sir? “The Basement.” “Sir.” The Basement is my favorite bar in Rome. The good thing is that I am a member there and I get to drink whenever the hell I want. It opens at 7 pm since it’s a pub. It took us 10 minutes to go there since there wasn’t any traffic today. Weird thing. “We are here sir.” “Don’t go far, Sanders.” “Yes, sir.” I climb out of the car and call Ron, the owner of the bar. “Massimo?” “Ron, I am outside the bar.” “I will send Kamela right away.” He hangs up and after 2 minutes Kamela opens the door. “Good afternoon, Mr. Massimo.” “Hello, Kamela. Thank you.” “Sure thing.” She opened the door further and I went in. “Do you need a strong drink?” “Vodka, or gin tonic.” “Have a seat. I will bring it to you.” “Thank you. You came in early?” “Yes. Yesterday, there was a party here and it was a mess. The boys didn’t have the time to completely clean up. They had lecture today. So, Ron asked if I could come in early. And you, Massimo?” “I had a hard day. I need to get my mind off things and decided to grab a drink.” “We all have one of those of days.” “I bet you, you didn’t have one like my mine.” “I hope, I never will.” She smiled and made me a drink. “Here. Vodka with Lemon. I added Bacardi too. Try it.” I drink it with a sip. Damn this is good. “This is some good shit.” “From the best.” She winked and made me another. “But take it easy. This hits different.” “Don’t worry about me.” “I am not. I am just saying.” “Fine.”   -2 hours later-   I had about 14 drinks. I have been in the bathroom more than 7 times and I had plenty of water. So, I am not as drunk as I should be. I even had a sandwich 3 hours ago, so my stomach was not empty. “You good there, Massimo?” “Yeah. I need to go home. I have work to do.” “Should I tell Ron, to take you home?” “No, Sanders will take me.” “Shall I call him?” “Please.” I bring out the phone and hand it to her. I don’t have a code so she can open it. She holds the phone in her ear. “Hello, Sanders. This is Kamela from, The Basement bar. Mr. Massimo would like you to pick him up.” “Sure thing.” She hangs up and hands the phone to me. “What did he say?” “He will be here in 5 minutes.” “Thank you Kamela.” I hold out my hand and she shook it. I pulled her to myself and she fell on my lap. “You smell good,” I said while smelling her neck. “And you smell like Vodka.” Her eyes were brown and beautiful. Her dark, short hair falling in front of her face. I would take her right here, right now, if she wasn’t an employee here. “Do I, now?” “Yes, and you are drunk. So, I will not be offended by your d*ck move.” My length came alive at her words. She is gorgeous. I longed to be inside her. “Please tell me, it isn’t what I think it is.” She stood up and pointed at my pants. f*****g hell. “No, I must go to the toilette. Nothing to do with you.” “You scared the s**t out of me for a second there, Eric.” I laughed at her and took my wallet out. I gave her a 200$ and a 100$ tip. “This is too much, Massimo.” “You deserve it. I was a d**k, I apologize.” “Thank you.” She said and went behind the bar and kept washing the glasses. “Thank you too. See you, Kamela.” “Bye.” I headed out and saw Sanders by the car. He opened the door for me, and I climbed in.  “Where to sir?” “Home, Liam.” “Sir.” … “We are here sir.” I heard Sanders say. I fell asleep. “Thank you, Sanders.” “You are welcome, sir.” I climbed out of the car and headed to the door. As soon as I went in, I had the need to throw up. f*****g s**t. I never throw up. I ran to the bathroom and threw up. Washed my face and headed to my room. The door was open. Margo knows I don’t like it when my bedroom door is left open. I pushed it and saw a girl on my bed. Who the f**k is this? “Hey there, baby. Did you miss me?”
