We observed the surroundings earlier and noticed that a lot people had turned into zombies already. The what seemed like endless screams were replaced by eerie silence.
No one's normal anymore, every single one was bitten... well except for us.
Even the slightest noise can trigger the zombies.
Looks like escaping would be a hard task.
Usually, in movies that includes zombies, people are not safe during daytime but even more so during the night.
"We have to find a place to stay and fast," I whispered.
"Yeah, that's a good idea." Sarah added.
"And according to what I had observed, they have strong animal instincts. We have to be careful when travelling." The unknown lady spoke.
"We have to wait until sunset, and then we can get out of here so we can find a safe place to stay. We can't just stay here forever. We don't know what's happening so we have to find shelter, food, and other things that can help us survive. And if ever, we have to find weapons. Like knives and guns to protect ourselves." I explained, carefully in order not to draw unwanted attention from the zombies.
"I miss my mom," Sarah suddenly said, tears struggling to keep their hold.
"And I do too, but we have to stay strong and calm in order to survive." I retorted while hugging her.
Sarah has always been the crybaby between the two of us. I can't imagine how she must've felt when we were chased earlier.
We both just turned nineteen years old and I don't know how we will survive in this situation.
We still have five hours before sunset and I can't wait anymore. The more time wasted, the scarier it gets. I feel like these zombies increased in number.
I wonder what my family is doing right now... are they safe?
I have no way of contacting them since my battery us almost dead and there's no available payphone in the area.
I looked up at my wristwatch and noticed it is already one o'clock in the afternoon.
"How did it start? How did they become zombies?" I asked, quietly.
"I don't know either. I was shopping when the apocalypse happened." The lady spoke, loud enough for us to hear only.
"How did you know there are people inside this car? I mean, the windows are tinted. No one can see us from outside." I asked.
"I actually didn't see you. I didn't know there were people inside this car. I guess, I'm just lucky. I also tried to beg for help from other cars but no one wanted to let me in." She stated.
"The people inside those cars are probably dead or turned. Either way, they're a goner." Sarah spoke to which I nodded in response.
"How the heck did they become zombies anyway? I thought it only happens in the movies." Sarah asked, shortly after while resting her head on my shoulders and clinging her arms on mine.
"I don't know. Probably a failed experiment or something." The lady shrugged.
I just sighed and closed my eyes. I feel so exhausted.
We were supposed to be spending our summer sunbathing in the beach in Busan not in a god damn zombie apocalypse.
I wish this was all just a stupid dream...
