Nick stood with his hands in his pockets and continued watching Grier. She looked up and met his eyes, a wide smile on her face. She touched her hand to the other couple’s forearms and then waved goodbye and began walking towards him.
“You’re over here all alone. Are you alright?”
“Just watching you do your thing. You belong in this town, you know. The people here love you.”
“You can take the girl out of the town but not the town out of the girl,” she quipped with a grin. “You must be getting cold.”
“I’m doing okay.” He was as warm as if he was sitting next to a fireplace.
“Dad said he can manage the rest of the evening. I’m ready to head back to the ranch house. Did you want to walk with me and leave the truck for my parents?”
