“That’s a huge tree.” Nick commented as he looked to where Grier’s parents were talking with the mayor. “Comes from the back farm.” “The back farm?” “Yes. Dad’s farm extends hundreds of acres. They’ve been doing the Christmas tree thing since the early nineteen hundreds. As people started buying artificial trees or wanting smaller trees for their smaller homes, the Bush family started planting different trees and leaving the larger ones to grow. Every year, Dad donates one of the really old trees to the town. When Christmas is over, the tree gets taken to a mill and then Kash’s father will use the wood to make furniture which is donated to a specific shelter in Boulder.
