HERMIONE I knew better than to let my guard down so easily; Mom never lets transgressions go unpunished. The past week had been a barrage of surgeries, with Mom seemingly ordering in VIP patients from a queue. I spent most of the week operating on fumes, working on complex cases thrust my way, and barely getting enough rest. I appreciate the challenge, but the cost is too high.
