Chapter Eight

Tayla’s POV

This feels so powerful and I’m so hungry but, not for food. I have no idea what is going on. I hear Tess yell “cover your nose”. Then, this thing appears out of nowhere that looks just like my mom. You’re not my mother I think and kill it with my bare hands. I look at my hand and notice that my nails have turned crimson red and have grown to a point. I feel myself losing control. I let out another scream just as I fall into darkness. Is this part of the challenge. “Hello. Hello!” I yell. I see this dim light and run toward it. When I get close all I see is a mirror. I look into the mirror when I stand in front of it. I can see myself with blood all over my mouth, clothes and hands. I’m shocked at what I’m looking at. My hair is pure white with crimson red tips and my eyes are black with what likes like red lightning in them. I have a smirk on my face. I look down only to realize that I’m looking at myself in the mirror. Both Aiden and Kale are at my feet bleeding to death. Cat is in chains yelling, “why did you do this? I thought we were friends?” I start sobbing. I can’t take it all the c*****e and blood, everywhere I look. The twins are hanging on crosses and poor Mia looks like she was ripped in half. I fall to the ground with my face in my hands crying. I hear a voice in my ear. “How could you do this to your friends? You must be a monster….” “I am not a monster!” I yell. “Why don’t you just kill yourself. Everyone will be better off without you. This is what the future will be like if you live,’’ the voice said. I know deep down that it’s just another monster and I’m living my worst fear. Ayla yells very faintly, “he is a trickster and just playing out your greatest fear.” Then it all clicks, and I know what I have to do. I have to face my fear. I walk over to where my only remaining friend is chained. With one swift move, I break her chains and hand her a dagger. She looks at me with fear in her eyes. “No this is a trick I won’t kill you!” Cat yells. I look at her with tears in my eyes and say, “it’s okay Cat I will always love you my dearies friend. Then I grab her hand and plunge the dagger into my heard. I let out a breath that I didn’t know I was holding. I looked at where Cat was and saw a hooded figure, with boney fingers and grey skin that looked like it was falling off the bones. “H how did you know to do that,” he asked in a whisper. I can’t hold back Ayla and the other woman anymore. It feels like they are becoming one and it scares me and I’m not one to be scared easily. The place changes and I know that I am no longer in the place that I was in anymore. We are back in the real world. Ayla and the woman speak as one, “We don’t like that you tried to trick us, and you will play with your life.” I know that I have shifted but I don’t know into what it is. Ayla and the woman lung at the hooded figure. He is faster than we thought. He lets out a dry cackle. Like this is the most fun he has had in years.

Kales POV:

I have know idea what is going on then Tess yells for everyone to cover their nose. I do as she says only because she looks terrified. I hear what sounds like a howl to me and snap my head to where my mate is. She is hit by the fire daemon. I lung forward to try and save her and am stopped by both the twins. Aiden is staring at Tayla with his hands balled into fists. Aiden looks at me and says, “I want to help to but if she is to become the alpha, we must be patient.” I nod knowing that our mate would be pissed if we tried to help her. “Mate is amazing. Look at how she moves?” Deimos says with a purr. I look at her in time to see her kill the fire daemon. Then appears a woman that looks identical to Tayla. Tess curses under her breath and I know that this may be a hard battle for her. She has this other aura that I can’t place and then she beheads the shifter thing. Tess says, “she has to kill the next one fast then you both must calm her before she kills us all.” “What do you mean by that” Mya asks?
