CHAPTER02

The results were not what she had expected, her name "CONSOLATA MARIA MATHEWS written on bold stared at her .she loathed that name and regretted dropping her father's name for this nonsense. she had stage 4 cervical cancer and approximately 1 year to live. Connie did not want to believe it was bad luck but she was shaken beyond her core. no one in her family had cancer and having less than 12 months was not something she anticipated. Suddenly everything seemed black and dizziness hit her full force she ended up collapsing on the cold tiled floor.

The next time she woke up it was around 10 pm .the beeping machines irritated her and the smell of medicine made her nauseous. her left hand was connected to the drip .she wanted to scream .she did not deserve all this pain.she had been a perfect daughter ,worked in children's home ,helped the needy and always respected everyone so why did she have to be punished like this. the nurse came back in time before Connie could pull the syringe from her hand she warned her against doing anything stupid and told her not to stand again.' your brother and sister were here and said they had to travel outside the country so you will have to live in hospital food for a while " Connie was about to ask her which brother as she was a

n only child when the nurse continued."your brother is really good-looking, you know, if his wife wasn't pregnant i would ave made my move" Kaylee was pregnant?? Connie was petrified. just how long had those two vile beings went behind her back. Kaylee was married, so it did not make sense why she was chasing after Matt when her husband was much richer and good-looking than Matt could ever be.

she nodded so that the nurse could stop speaking to her and in that moment decided that two could play the game. if she was going to die at least she needed to enjoy her last moments on earth and if it meant sleeping with her ex best friends man then she was going to do it without hesitation .

She reached out for her phone and called her mum, who picked up immediately.she started crying immediately, which had her mom questioning if she was okay. Connie finally broke the news of her diagnosis which had her parents arranging for her travel back home. Connie was begging her dad to not call matt giving an excuse for him being so busy as she did not want him to know her where about.

Her parents had been against her marriage, but at the end she had convinced them that he was a good guy . they had stayed in the states for two years just to check if he treated her right . Afterwards, they had gone back to their home in Italy . They were extra rich. her parents estate was worth billions but Mat did not know this as she had never seen a reason for him to. Even Kaylee, her own best friend had thought she was middle class due to the area they lived, so at least her going back might be what she needed at the moment.

She had known Matt and Kaylee for the last 20 years . as a kid she had noticed that they were different. They did not ave big houses or cars like her parents. she did not want to be the odd one out in their friendship group hence she had begged her paents to move to a neighborhood close to theirs. her parents had refused but when she ran away from ho,me to live with kaylee they had reluctantly agreeed and bought a house in the middle class neigborhood.now thinking of it connie couldnt help but wonder just how much stupid she had been.

she had always sacrificed her happiness for them. if you asked a normal person they would have pointed how stupid she was. she could have just invited her friends in her parents house andhave them enjoy riches for the first time .but Connie loved justfying everything something that kaylee had come to ate over the time. she felt that she wss so naive plus she just made rash decisuions without thinkig something her and Matt had come to take advantage of over the years.

her parents had owned the factory where their parents worked. something they had come to learn once matt got married to connie.they had mistreared their workers.refusing to pay them over many months plus even going to the point of exposing them to extreme conditions which left most with serious medical conditions. all their lives kaylee and matt had hated their parents bossses and coming to lean they were their childhoods own friend hurt them so much.

the rich were evil and by extension their children were even worse. they had observed kaylee subtly and realized just how much she acted like them. the apple did not far away for sure. they had spend long nights trying to find her parents but connie had came up with the story of Matt cheating on her.

they were going to lead her on and make her believe that.and that's what they had done exactly. Kaylee had wanted to feel bad but she realized Connie was the source of her own suffering. so when a deal came through from a strange man . they had both gladly accepted it. maybe her stupid ass parents would know what it felt to have your own family being terminally ill from something totally preventable.
