King Richard says standing in front of his god that it is no surprise to me that these north men have arrived in Wessex, after I heard about their raids into Northumbria; I realized it was only a matter of time before they came ashore here, when I lived at the court of the Emperor Charlemenagne, of long and blessed memory, these north men had already emerged from their lairs to attack parts of his empire, and I remember an incident from  this period very well, I was with Charlemagne's party at a harbor town in a southern Gaul, as we sat eating supper, a fleet of pirates attacked the harbor, there was some confusion about their identity, but from the build of their ships and their speed through the water, the Emperor recognized them at once as North-men. After a lightning attack…they made their escape. The  Emperor’s men took up the chase, but they were soon out-sailed. Charlemenagne rose from the table and stood at the window, facing east; I remember it is clearly as if it were yesterday. For a long time, he stood while the tears poured down his face, in the end he said “do you know why I weep so bitterly? “It’s not because I am afraid “these ruffians will do me any harm. “I am sick at heart “to think that even in my lifetime, “they have dared to attack this coast. “And I am horror-stricken “when I foresee what evil they will do and now, it is our turn to deal with these ruffians, these pagans, but deal with them we shall, and must.

King Richard calls his slave, Ceaser come here.

Ceaser: Yes, father.

King Richard: I put it in your hands to work with our ealdormen to raise an army. In the meantime, we shall send spies and others to observe the size of the raiding party and their intentions, these north men never like to venture far from their ships, and they prefer not to be drawn into pitched battle, let us not be afraid, but rather watchful, and ultimately, decisive, as the Emperor was.

Jordan and King Guzman go ahead and Michael takes them to a church.

Jordan: What is that place, Michael?

Michael: It’s a Christians Church, a minster, a large one, it may be Winchester.

Jordan: Is it important?

Michael: If it is Winchester, Saint Birinus is buried there; it’s a place of great pilgrimage

King Guzman: And will there be treasure there?

Michael: Yes, a lot of treasure.

On the other hand, Abigail has also married again. Her husband's name is Earl Sigvard, Abigail lives with him, and her husband doesn't like Masons at all, Sigvard angrily calls Abigail and tells her.

After looting all the gold and silver, King's warriors find people hiding in the church, and kill a lot of people. Michael also goes inside the church to see some old things, but Michael has changed his religion now. The clergyman enters the church, Michael tells him

Michael: Hide!

Clergyman: You speak our language, how?

Michael: It does not matter, just do as I say, hide. Hide or they will kill you.

Clergyman: You are one of us.

Michael: Once.

Clergy man: Then I will tell you this, one day you will be caught, we will catch you and crucify you, for an apostate is the lowest and the vilest of all creatures in the eyes of god.

Clergyman doesn't listen to him. In the mean while Herbert enters and he takes the Clergyman outside and takes off his clothes, and binds him with a rope and all warriors hits archers on Clergyman and he is seriously injured. Michael feels very bad for him; he does not like the Clergyman's disrespect, Michael stands in front of the Clergyman and stabs him in the neck. So that he may be spared the pains of death.

On the other hand Mason sees that his step father has raised his hand to his mother, Mason doesn't like it at all.

Mason: Mother, why would you allow him to do that to you?

Abigail: What are you talking about?

Mason: Your husband Earl Sigvard, I saw him.

Abigail: Mason, please.

Mason: Please what? Has he hit you before? Will you let him hit you again?

Abigail: It will never happen again.

Mason: If it does, I will kill him.

Abigail: I said it won’t.

Mason: What would Jordan say?

Abigail: What has it to do with your father? Nothing.

Mason: Sometimes I think of him, I miss him, I can’t help it.

Abigail: Of course not, you are his son, you must always be proud.

Mason: As should you, for being his wife.

On the contrary, Queen Ella becomes the mother of Jordan's third son, Debby Comes to Ella and says her.

Debby: Another son?

Queen: Yes.

Debby: What is his name?

Queen: Sigurd, after my father, Sigurd snake-in-the-eye.

In night, Edmund and Abraham discuss the Winchester attack with King Richard.

Edmund: You’re Majesty, you have heard of the attack on Winchester?

King Richard: Yes, of course, I grieve.

Edmund: The martyrdom of my fellow bishop, Bishop Swithern, a fine Christian.

King Richard: Praise to be God.

Abraham: There are those who ask why we did not do more to protect our brothers and sisters at such an important site.

King Richard: Are there? What answer did you give them, my Lord Abraham?

Ceaser: Perhaps he did not have an answer.

King Richard: I have never found Lord Abraham to be at a loss for words.

After the raid, Jordan and King's companion’s return to their camp eat and drink well, Torstein remembers Arne, and he tells Herbert.

Torstein: It’s time like this I miss our friend Arne.

Herbert: He could always make us laugh.

Torstein: Even in the darkest moments.

Herbert: Now he is making the god’s laugh, that’s why they took him from us, because they were jealous, speaking of gods…by saying this while talking to Torstein, Herbert gets up and goes to Michael and tells him.

Herbert: I have something for you, Michael; don’t you want it, your Holy book? Are these not the images of your god?

Michael: I told you before, and I will tell you again, my god is Odin, the all father.

Herbert: I know you have told me, only I don’t believe you.

Michael: And this? Jordan gave me this.

By saying all this, Herbert leaves from there, Jordan asks King Guzman.

Jordan: So tell me how do you find England?

King Guzman: It is a pleasant land, rich with treasure.

Jordan: You are right, this land is rich, but here, here is the real treasure, smell please.

Jordan: Have you not seen? In Got-land, Yall Paulo again get married, Yall Paulo holds a ceremony in which everyone invites their friends and warriors.

Yall Paulo: Friends, family, what’s left of it, so I am married for the second time, as most of you know, my first marriage lasted less than an hour, because my own brother poisoned the drinks that day, of course the same thing can never happen twice, so let the wine be poured.

(Banging Table)

Next day, King Richard sends some of his companions to Jordan's camp, So that they may know the purpose of their coming.

Bishop: Who can speak to us?

Jordan: I can.

Edmund: I have been sent here by Richard, king of Wessex, the king regrets your attack on the Holy church at Winchester. He wonders how much longer you intend to remain in his kingdom.

Jordan: Well, that depends

Edmund: Upon what?

Jordan: Upon what he will offer us to leave or what he will offer us to stay.

Edmund: Stay?

Jordan: Yes, we want to make peace with the king.

Edmund: Peace.

Jordan: So we don’t have to kill anymore of you.

Edmund: I will relay your message to the king.

King Guzman: Listen!

King Guzman hits ax on the neck of Abraham, Edmund and Abraham run away in fear, while Jordan and King return to their camp.

At night in dinner table Sigvard asks Mason. 

Sigvard: Not hungry, Mason?

Mason: No.

Sigvard: Any reason?

Mason: No reason.

Sigvard: Are you unhappy? What can I do to make you happy? Shall I raid one of my suspecting neighbors, so you can show off your fighting skills? And may be slaughter them all, show that you are truly the son of Jordan Korg, no believe me I don’t like to see you so solemn, and so tell me what can I do?

Mason: You can let me go live in a cabin in the mountains.

Sigvard: By yourself? In the mountains?

Mason: Yes I’d like to test myself, get away from all this, all these servants, all these people doing everything for us, I want to know what is essential to life, what is really important, will you let me?

Sigvard: No, of course not, I am the earl here, what would folk thing if I let my beloved stepson starve or freeze to death in some mountain pigsty? You understand that, don’t you, my boy? In any case, I have solemnly sworn to Abigail that I shall take care of you, and I will.

Yall Paulo comes to Kattegat with his four ships, because he knows Jordan has gone for the raid, Debby sees the ships and runs to the Rulf and tells him.

Debby: Rulf, wake up.

Rulf: What, what is it?

Debby: There are boats, who are they?

Rulf: I think I can guess, go back to the town, find anyone who can fight, anyone who can hold a weapon, we are under attack.

In Kattegat, people suddenly start running to safe their lives, The queen comes to the Rulf and asks him.

Queen: What is it? What is happening here?

Rulf: Yall Paulo, he has come back to attack us.

Queen: Yall Paulo.

Rulf: I’m sure, it is him, Jordan and King Guzman broke their agreement with him, he has returned to gain his revenge.

Queen: What are we going to do?

Rulf: What do you think we are going to do? We are going to fight.

Debby gathers some warriors from Kattegat; Rulf stands at the forefront and represents the rest of the warriors.

Rulf: Torfin! Olaf! One of you on each flank, help with the barricades.

Jordan has taken all of the best fighting men, look what we left; Debby comes out to fight with Shield-wall, Rulf sees Debby and asks her, what are you doing?

Debby: What does it look like?

Rulf: Not you, you are not a shield-maiden, you are not…

Debby: Abigail.

Rulf: Debby, I need you to go back to the great hall, find queen Ella and her children, and take them up into the mountains.

Debby: And then what?

Rulf: Wait.

Debby: For what?

Rulf: For whatever the gods have decided is about to happen, now go.

Debby at the request of Rulf, she takes the queen and some women to the mountains, and in the mean while Yall Paulo reaches Kattegat with his warriors.

Yall Paulo: Sail down! Row! Row!

Rulf: Stay strong! Don’t make easy for them! Light the fires! Archers!

Yall Paulo: Oars!

Rulf: Hold your places!

Yall Paulo: Jump ships! Go!

The battle between the warriors of Yall Paulo and Rulf begins; Rulf fights Yall Paulo’s warriors by standing at the forefront, and kills a lot of people, but Jordan takes all the good warriors with him on the raid, Rulf tries to save many Kattegat people. Rulf tells people, back to the market place.

Yall Paulo: That’s right Rulf, run! Run like you always do.

Rulf gives archers to the people of Kattegat as the warriors of Yall Paulo run away, Rulf shoots arrows at them and as soon as he sees them, the people of Kattegat shoot arrows at the warriors of Yall Paulo. The number of Yall’s warriors is very high, so man says Rulf.

Man: There is no disgrace in the eyes of the gods to save yourself for another day, Rulf, your first duty is to try and save the sons of Jordan.

Yall Paulo: Surrender!

Man: Rulf, let me speak for the gods, for I will shortly join them in their bright halls, but you have other to do here go, I will tell the gods what you have done.

Yall Paulo: Now do you surrender?

Man: Yes!

Yall Paulo kills a lot of people and burned the Great Hall of Jordan, while Rulf takes the Debby, queen Ella and his sons and runs out of the mountain ways.
