THE FIFTRENT

Chapter 4

Albert waddled around the phoenix chambers in a clean white ram chuckled robe that Awary had given him to wear , he bumped into the phoenix princess Aya .

“Now that is a nice robe , why didnt i get one of those .” He pointed at her majestic robe adorned with zircon.

“ I am Aya the phoenix princess .” She extended her hand to him .

“Albert , the best phoenix to ever roam the skies .” He refused to shake her hand.

“Albert ?that is a human name .”

“And , how does that concern you ?”

“ you must be the new phoenix Awary told me about .” Aya said .

She lifted his head up and passed her fingers through her dark black hair .

“So old man finally admitted that my feathers are more beautiful than his ,huh ?”

“That is impossible.”

“Well , look at how fine mine are and compare to his .” He showed her the feathers on the scarfs he had in a bag .

“I can’t compare them to Awary’s , I have never seen them!”

“Really , why , doesn’t he show you .”

“No he last turned into a phoenix when Edward the human clan head left .”

“As in the King Edward ?”

“As the humans like to call him , but the fiftrent never approved , and he doesn’t recognize him and the human kingdom as independent.” Aya said .

“How do you know that ?” Albert asked .

“Come closer and I tell you a secret .” Aya leaned towards him and whispered

“The fiftrent is my father .”

“How could you trust a complete stranger with such information.” Albert said .

“Look at me i***t , I am a princess , everybody knows it .” She yelled .

“Ooh I didn’t realize girls in this kingdom have a piece of brain .”

“Well girls rule this kingdom.”

Albert and Aya got into a bicker which was interrupted by the fox princess Ene .

“I thought I smelt dad , maybe I just miss him .” Ene said .

“Well this new phoenix guy over here , got to meet him few days ago.” Aya said.

“And you know the scent of the fiftrent is so strong , it stays on someone who gets in contact with it for nearly a month .” Aya added .

“Only foxes know that .” Albert said .

“Foxes and the phoenix princess Aya .” Ene said with a smile .

The phoenix princess Aya was so talented and had knowledge from all clans , elders joked often that if the fiftrent could be a female it would definitely be her .

“I would prefer the fiftrent to be a demon , they are so friendly.” Albert blurted out .

“Well they won’t be , the only demon child is a princess and girls dont get the good stuff .” Aya said .

“Oh princess Toga , I almost forgot.” Ene said as she hurried away .

“I will go meet the demon princess too , I would love to .” Albert said.

“You think you hurting my ego .”

“The ego of the phoenix is only affected by the beauty of its feathers .”

“That is not even a real proverb .”

Albert followed behind Ene to the demon chambers , walking in looked like stepping into an endless void .

Ene ran .

Albert carefully watched his steps as if he was scared to fall .

They finally reached the area of light and they saw Toga sitted in a chair .

Her black robe shining and her eyes glowing red , trying to scratch herself with her long claws .

“Hey sister are you alright ?” Ene ran towards her .

“Am tied to this chair with tiny fox barbed wires .” Toga said .

“Foxes are so bold these days , I will cut you out .” Ene said.

“It was Umbra don’t bother .”

“Oh , can you try vanishing out of them .”

“That is a demon’s first instinct, I tried that already .”

“How much coins do you owe me if I break you out ?” Albert cut in and winked at her .

“It can only be done by a clan head , are you not following?”Ene yelled at him .

Albert moved closer to Toga and he touched the small wires , they untangled from Toga and fell to the ground .

“Oh I know what happened.” Ene said.

“A fox shape shifted into clan head Umbra and trapped you .” She added .

“Then why couldn’t I break free by myself, if it wasn’t the clan head himself?” Toga said .

“Because your mind , told you that you can’t do it , you were a prisoner of your own mind ! Now am waiting for my pay .” Albert said .

“ Ene why don’t you go get my visitor some thing to eat , my maids were all scared away by Umbra , I mean his imposter .” Toga said .

“Chicken specifically.” Albert yelled at Toga .

“So tell me , how exactly did you set me free .”

“Phoenix strength .”

“Only Awary is that strong .”

“You think a mere fox is a match for a regular phoenix .” Albert said .

“Except , that was not a mere fox.” Toga said .

“Still trapped by your brain i see .”

“No , no fox can shapeshift into umbra, it is impossible even to the king , it was him .” Toga said .

“I see you are smarter than the other girl .”

“Ene is just a child .”

“No the one who wears white .”

“Aya and I decided to stop the competition years ago , please respect that .” Toga said.

“Anyway , how do you see we hangout sometime.” Toga said.

“I will have to think about it first .”

“Dont you know that am a princess you talking to like that .”

“And am a majestic phoenix who has just saved you , you are welcome .”
