THE FIFTRENT

CHAPTER 1

Muwe’s hands shivered , he couldn’t believe it , yes he is used to punishing traitors in the human kingdom but today it is his own best friend Albert , and he has to devour his soul with all his demonic powers .

He raised his hand , sharp claws shot out , he clenched his fist and stopped , tears filled his eyes as he looked at Albert tied to a tree .

Loud noises were heard among the crowd , they slowly faded into whispers .

The women around looked away as the men’s eyes were locked onto Albert .

Albert closed his eyes.

“Do it right now ?” King Edward’s voice thundered .

“Show no mercy , dig those demon claws deep in his throat , let his mourn be heard by all the creatures for he has annoyed the gods , grant no forgiveness.” The Royal physician cried .

Just then a feathery blast appeared , everyone was covered in phoenix feathers , Albert untied himself and ran as fast as his legs could carry him .

“Go after the ungrateful phoenix.”The king ordered .

The Royal guards drew their swords and ran after Albert , big white wings appeared on his back and he flew away .

The Royal physician turned to Muwe who was standing still tears still in his years .

“Save this kingdom , demon .” He said .

Muwe vanished .

Muwe appeared in the hallway as King Edward and Prince Simon were siping on wine , his long hair tied in a bun his eyes glowing red and his black robe drenched in blood .

“where is his body ?” King Edward asked .

“A fox ate him .” Muwe replied .

“He was kind enough to let me drink some blood .” He added .

Prince Simon stood up from the table and moved towards Muwe , his golden accessories glistening through Muwe’s red eyes . He locked eyes with him .

“Your day will come , you are just a puppet .” Prince Simon said .

“My job is to punish traitors like Albert , that is all I did .” Muwe replied.

“He was trying to save my life .” Prince Simon said .

“By standing against the royal physician , I don’t think so .” Muwe said leaning over to Prince Simon to whisper so the gods might not hear him .

Prince Simon held his robe and fell to the ground , he started convulsing.

Maids and guards rushed to him .

Muwe vanished .

Albert admired the sun as it gradually fell back to its dwelling , he heard the foxes scream and bark , he started imitating them .

“You could actually make a great fox .” A voice called from behind .

Albert turned and started barking and wiggling as the feathers he had glued to his robe fell off .

He got to his four limbs and screamed.

He looked up , blinked his almond shaped amber eyes as he bit his ruby lips and shook his head .

“Who is an adorable puppy , oh you are .” Muwe said as he caressed his head .

Albert started panting .

“Cut the act .” Muwe said fixing his black collar .

Albert stood up and dusted his golden robe that had turned brown due to many days without changing .

“Where are we heading today ?” Muwe asked .

“To the dragon mountains , I heard there is a rich old man .” Albert said .

Muwe held Albert’s hand Amd they vanished .

They appeared at a small hut , molted skin was around the compound , Muwe knocked .

An old man with a cane dressed in a red glistening robe appeared behind them .

“What brings a demon and a helpless phoenix dressed like an outcast human to my home .” The old man said .

“We are here to sell you our famous feather scarfs .” Muwe said.

“They are made of Bbugo a sacred material used to make royal robes in the human kingdom and adorned with the most beautiful white phoenix feathers .” Edward added .

“Why are you trying to sell me a scarf in summer ?” The old man asked .

“It will be useful to you when you moult .” Muwe said pointing at the moulted skin on the shed .

“Sounds genius .” The old man said as he picked the scarf from Albert .

He turned to his hut , untied the keys attached to the belt of his robe and opened the door .

“Don’t forget chicken for me and blood for Muwe .” Albert said.

“As the payment .” He added as the old man shut the door .

Albert and Muwe looked around confused but were startled when the old man appeared behind them again .

“I don’t have chicken and blood , but I have something that can help the human outcast .” He said .

“The so called human outcast needs food !” Albert said .

“Take this to the palace of the four clans , and they will let you sell your scarves to the nobles .” He said as he handed him a glowing green pendant .

“And how is this better than me getting fed .” Albert said .

The old man vanished .

“Hello , come back here sir , I am complaining .” He yelled.

Muwe tapped his shoulders .

“Take it to the palace , first thing tomorrow in the morning, and try your luck .” Muwe said .

“Okay we will , you better be here on time .” Albert said .

“I am afraid I can’t come with you .” Muwe said .

“You don’t want your demon family to see you ?” Albert asked .

“No , I don’t want your family to suspect anything.”

“Okay , how is Simon and Ivy .” Albert asked .

“They are adapting to a life without , surprisingly well .”

“Hug Simon for me tonight .”

“He would not let me near him , he hates me so much .”

Albert fell silent , his eyes became watery .

Muwe tapped his shoulders , stepped away from him and then vanished .
