Next level luxury

1055 Words
Ilsa's POV I stood in awe, my mouth hanging open as I took in the view before me. Josefina hit a jackpot with this one. Tall glass windows reflected the golden light of the evening, making the entire place glow like it was dipped in sunlight. A long driveway curved behind us, lined with perfectly trimmed hedges and palm trees that swayed gently in the breeze. There was a fountain at the center, quiet water cascading down in soft, rhythmic sounds that somehow made everything feel even more dreamy. The air smelled different here. Cleaner. Warmer. Foreign. Behind the mansion, I could see hints of carefully arranged flowers, and what looked like a pool glistening under the dim light. It was magnificent. Of course it was. It is my mother we're dealing with after all. Staff lined up at the front, ready to welcome us. I wrapped my arms around myself, suddenly feeling small despite the luxury surrounding me. This was it. Another house. Another life. Another man I would be expected to accept. My feet moved involuntarily towards the door, my mother ahead of me. She was beaming with joy. She must not have expected this much luxury either. I could see her brain whirring with calculations. She was already thinking of ways not to f**k this up. Too bad she always did. “Sweetheart!” My mother squealed as she hopped into the arms of the man. Eduardo Vasquez. My new supposed stepfather. He certainly looked the part. Even in his casual attire. I could feel the power that exuded from him. I almost barfed as I watched them kiss. And then his gaze finally settled on me. “Ilsa.” He said, pulling me in for a hug. I just stood there, as stiff as a log. “I can see that beauty runs in the family. ¿Cómo estuvo tu vuelo?” I had magically lost my ability to speak. I could see my mother throwing me death glares from the corner of my eye. She laughed nervously. “It was a long flight indeed.” “Oh poor thing, you must be tired.” He said apologetically, smoothening my hair. “I told your mother to make use of my private jet but she wouldn't listen.” “Come on Ed, that would have been too much trouble. We managed just fine.” My mother replied in a sweet sickly voice. Who turns down the offer of a private jet? I'm sure she only did that to make herself look like a good person. Eduardo seemed genuine. How was he so blinded by her? How could he not sniff out the fakeness? I wondered the same for all the men she was ever with. She was playing in their faces and they mistook it for love. Dumbasses. “Come, come, come, let's go in.” He said enthusiastically. “I had your room specially designed, Ilsa. I hope you like it.” I had a whole wing to myself. The bedroom alone was massive. I could easily throw a party for eighty people in here and still have space left over. A large queen sized bed sat in the middle, dressed to perfection in crisp white sheets that looked like they had never been touched. A huge flat screen TV was mounted on the wall. The kind you'd expect to see in a private cinema. To the side was a mini library. It stretched along an entire wall, filled with books I doubted anyone had ever read. The floor to ceiling windows framed a side of the room, covered with expensive curtains that swayed lightly with the evening breeze. I moved closer. The view was impressive. Endless greenery. Everything felt soft and expensive. There was an indoor hammock in a corner. Not a single thing was out of place. I pushed open a door and walked into what I assume was my closet. It was as big as my old bedroom. Empty and waiting to be filled. Another door led to the bathroom, and at this point I had to stop being surprised. Marble floors. A large bathtub. A glass shower that looked like it belonged in a luxury spa. Even the mirrors were framed in gold. “Wow.” I breathed out. “This is some next level shit.” I pulled out my phone to facetime Jacie. “Hey you.” I said as she picked up the phone. “Hola! Cómo estás?” “Girl please.” “Holy shit.” Her eyes widened in surprise. “Are you at a vacation place? Did you take a detour?” I couldn't help but laugh. Me too girl. “Nope. Just the Vasquez mansion.” I said, pointing the camera around the room so she could get a better view. “This is insane!” “I know right! I don't even know how to feel.” I groaned, plopping myself on the plush rug. “And Josefina?” “She's clearly enjoying this. I'm sure she's so proud of herself. She bagged a f*****g billionaire.” “Oh what about the son?” “I don't know, haven't seen him yet.” “I bet he's hot.” She said, wiggling her eyebrows. “Alright, bye Jacie.” I rolled my eyes as I laughed. “No no no you–” I ended the call before she could say anything else. This girl was going to be the end of me. Getting up, I stripped and went into the shower. I had concluded that it was going to be a long shower. I mean, why not? I was bathing in a gold tub. Filling it up with warm water and bath bombs, I stepped in. I moaned in satisfaction as I felt the water soften my sore muscles. Closing my eyes, I let my thoughts wander all around. I didn't realise how long I had been there till the coldness of the water made me shiver. I stepped out, grabbing a folded towel and tying it loosely around myself. My feet slapped against the tiles as I walked towards the door, pulling it open. “What the f**k!” I shrieked, holding onto my towel tightly as I saw the figure with his back to me.
