Rachel, Sophie’s close friend, was beyond excited to share her recent encounter. They met up at a cozy café downtown, and Rachel could hardly wait to spill the tea.
“Sophie, I met the most amazing guy!” Rachel gushed, her eyes glowing. “His name’s Mike — we met at a concert. We bonded over our love for music and ended up dancing all night.”
Sophie’s eyes widened with interest. “Tell me everything!”
Rachel dove into every detail, her excitement contagious. “He’s so charming and thoughtful. We talked for hours, and it just… clicked. He’s into hiking, traveling, trying new foods — you’d love him!”
Sophie laughed softly, happy for her friend. “That sounds amazing! I’m so glad you met someone special.”
As Rachel continued, Sophie listened with genuine joy. It warmed her to see Rachel so alive — it reminded her of what it felt like to be swept up in something new.
“I’m so glad you’re happy, Rach,” Sophie said, smiling warmly. “You deserve it. So, when do I get to meet Mike?”
Rachel’s face lit up instantly. “Actually, I’ve been thinking about that! Let’s plan a little dinner soon. I’ll invite Mike, and you can finally meet him properly.”
Sophie grinned. “That sounds perfect. I’m in.”
The two friends spent the rest of the afternoon chatting — from favorite shows to embarrassing childhood stories — laughing until the café began to close.
As they hugged goodbye, Sophie felt grateful for their friendship. It was good to be around love, even if it wasn’t her own. She couldn’t wait to meet the man who had her best friend glowing.

A few days later, the dinner finally arrived. Rachel was radiant, her excitement impossible to hide. Sophie teased her gently.
“You’ve been talking about this man nonstop,” she laughed. “He better live up to the hype.”
“Oh, just wait till you meet him,” Rachel said with a grin. “He’s everything I’ve ever wanted.”
When Mike arrived, Sophie was pleasantly surprised. He had an easy smile, polite charm, and the kind of calm confidence that instantly put people at ease. The three of them hit it off quickly, the conversation flowing effortlessly.
But as the night went on, Sophie caught small details — the way Mike sometimes checked his phone mid-conversation, or how his smile faltered for a split second when certain topics came up. Still, Rachel looked so happy, so in love, that Sophie brushed it off.
As they said their goodbyes later that night, Sophie leaned in and whispered, “I think Mike might be the one.”
Rachel grinned dreamily. “I think you might be right.”

(Rachel’s POV)
As I gazed into Mike’s eyes later that night, my heart fluttered. I couldn’t believe how much I cared for him already. Our dinner with Sophie had been perfect — full of laughter, warmth, and easy conversation. I loved seeing Mike’s playful side.
But moments like this — just the two of us — were what I cherished most. Mike’s kind heart and gentle words made me feel safe.
I thought back to when we first met at that concert. I almost didn’t give him my number, but something about his smile had felt trustworthy. Now, I couldn’t imagine my life without him.
When Mike reached across the table and took my hand, I felt a rush of happiness. Sophie’s words echoed in my mind — “He might be the one.”
Maybe she was right.
With Mike by my side, I felt like I could face anything.
What I didn’t know was that, somewhere else in the city, Sophie’s world — and mine — were both about to change.
