Lexi Yoshimoto just happened to be walking along the street when the patrol car pulled up alongside the operations center. She had just happened to be out for a walk, circling the block, for the past 40 minutes. She had stopped in at the operations center twice earlier in the afternoon, finding no one there the first time and leaving hastily the second time when Detective Inspector Canham, who had just arrived, asked what she wanted.
Now, seeing the patrol vehicle, Lexi waited for Rhys to emerge from the driver’s seat and stood back, perplexed, when it was Seth Forman who got out. Seth didn’t seem to notice her as he came around to the passenger side of the vehicle to help Rhys out.
“Rhys! What’s happened?” She hovered anxiously as Forman eased Rhys to a standing position.
