I has spent the weekend working and keeping my eye open for Wesley again. I had no luck seeing him. I knew the chances were near impossible, but I was beginning to wonder if I had actually seen him. Maybe I had a vision like I did in the mansion and I just didnt realize that it wasnt real. No it had to be real, and if I was looking for him, he had to be looking for me to. At least I hoped I was right about that. I can imagine my embarrassment if I confronted him when I see him and he looks at me like I'm crazy. But I needed to know the truth. I went to school as normal on Monday and talked to Britt. Britt was excited about the recent dream I had. "Reincarnation." She stated like that was the answer to all of our questions. "If Reincarnation is a real thing, then I wouldn't be remembering any of this." She shook her head. "I looked online. A woman named Shanti Devi claimed to have memories of her past life. I also read about a girl who had memories of being Anne Frank, until after she turned 11. Then the memories stopped." I hesitated and thought about it while biting my lower lip. Could that be possible? But I wasn't anything special. It made sense though if that was true. Could I possibly have been this Marie woman in a past life? Then how does Wesley tie in with all of this? He looked the exact same in his obituary and the photo of Marie looked like me. "But youre not born looking the same exact way as you used to. Ypu have different parents genes. Did one woman look just like Anna Frank?" I told her. Britts eyes narrowed as she thought about it. She was just as stumped as I was about it. "How is the research going?" I asked to change the subject back to school. She sighed roughly. "I hope to hear something from my dad today when he talks to the guy at work." I nodded my head, but I was worried. I was worried we wouldn't get enough informing time for the project. Im sure we can come up with something, but I didnt want to rush our work. I was glad to start work after school. It was where I could get away from my weird, unimaginable, and possibly crazy issues. No one here was going to ask me about my dreams or researching a mansion that might be tied to me. Its not Britts fault, I would want to help her if it was happening to her. I wasnt even going to think about you know who. I was put on the cash register today, sadly. It wasnt a hard job, I just rather not be yelled at by someone because they can just taste that their coffee was missing a drop of cream. Most of my shift was uneventful. Except for a guy tripping and dropping a full carrier of coffees all over the floor. That clean up was the worst part of the day as we tried to maneuver people out of the way to avoid a lawsuit. It was the end of the day now and we were getting close to closing time. I was wiping down tables when I heard the door chime as a customer entered. I quickly made my way to the sanitizer water bucket to drop off my rag before I headed to the cash register. "What can I-" I started to say but stopped short as I finally looked up at the customer standing there. It was him. Wesley. He was standing in front of me at work again. Just when I wasnt looking for him or thinking of him, he shows up. He looked just as handsome as he did before and as he does in my dreams. I remembered my promise about confronting him, as he stood there giving me a dashing smile that made my knees shake. But how can I confront him at work? I couldnt exactly start yelling at him about my dreams at work. He was a customer now. If I was wrong about everything I would look crazy to all my coworkers. "Hello." He finally spoke up as the silence between us started to become awkward. "Wh-What can I get for you?" I finally asked trying to keep my composure. he continued to smile at me, his green hazel eyes twinkling in the light "Medium coffee with cream and sugar." He said having his coffee order rehearsed. I grabbed the cup and marked it appropriately for his order. "What the name for the order?" I held my breath hoping he would say another name. Anything to prove my delusional thoughts wrong. "Wesley." Damn it, I thought to myself as I wrote his name on the cup. I passed it down to the Barnstable as I typed his order into the cash register. "What kind of coffee do you like?" He suddenly asked me. I hesitated. Was he trying to have a normal conversation with me? I looked up at him and he gave me now a awkward smile. "Iced mocha. Thats my go to, unless pumpkin spice is in season. Which should be coming soon." He smiled confidently. "Ice in coffee will always amaze me." he chuckled. I awkwardly smiled back. What do I even say to him? My nerves were screaming at me to just say something, anything to hint that I know who he is. That Ive seen him in my dreams begging for my life to be spared. That I know about Marie. "Im new in town. Do you guys get a lot of business?" He was trying to keep the conversation going even though his coffee has been ready and sitting on the counter for him. "Yeah, just about everyone comes here. Its convenient. " He was watching me closely. Like more than the average person does. Like he was waiting to see something. "I didnt catch your name." He said as his eyes glanced to my name tag. I knew he read it, and it read Layla. But this was my moment to catch him off guard. "Marie." I told him looking straight at his face. He face dropped along with his confidence. He continued staring at me but with a confused expression now. I stared back sternly. Giving him a 'I know more than you think' look. I wondered what he was thinking and how I wished I could get it out of him. "Marie." He whispered quietly as his expression softened. I didnt know what else to say to him. He cleared his throat and seemed to shake off his confusion. "Id love to talk with you again, Layla." He sounded unsure but put in the extra effort to say my real name. I nodded my head. There was sure a lot of things I wanted to talk to him about. "I was hoping we could, well, meet up sometime" He said nervously and rubbed the back of his neck. Was he asking me out now? I didnt know what to do now, but I needed to talk to him away from people. "Yeah." I told him as I tried to keep my stern look on my face. "Great!" He said, his mood changing quickly. "Tomorrow at 5? Ill pick you up." Luckily, I was off tomorrow. I nodded my head. He smiled at me again. "Ill see you tomorrow. " He turned to walk away and I looked back at the counter. "Wesley." I called for him. He froze at the sound of his name and slowly turned to face me. A look on his face that I couldnt describe. "You forgot your coffee." I pointed to the lonely cup sitting there. He looked embarrassed as he went and grabbed it. He gave me another smile and nod as he walked out the door. My manager stood there waiting for him to leave so they could lock the door. As I cleaned up my station one last time, something had dawned on me. Wesley said he was going to pick me up tomorrow, but he didnt know where I lived. Or so I had thought.
