Chapter 5: The Meeting

2600 Words
Eden’s P.o.V. I stood patiently as Wynter, and I watched our packmates do as we said. They quickly dispersed into groups surrounding eight of our eleven Advisor wolves. The Ranked wolves and wolves that she had summoned surrounded the bottom of the rock. Patiently waiting for us to be ready to head out. I could feel Wynter’s pride at being able to lead this pack and honestly, I felt the same pride. It was an honor. It was a privilege to lead them. We loved each member of this pack. I knew that both of us would give anything and everything to our packmates. Finally, I jumped off the rock and landed three feet further up on the trail that led out of the valley. I looked over my shoulder and motioned for the others to follow me. I raced off and pulled hard at the valley rocky, dirt floor. Occasionally on our way up we passed a stray clump of grass or bush. The dens were small caves that were either already there or that we dug ourselves. I could feel the vibration of paws hitting the ground behind me. Thrumming to the beat of my own paws. I felt the brushing of Aztec’s and Klondike’s fur against my own as they raced next to my flanks. I exited the valley and started to swerve and weave through the trees, ducked under and leaped over fallen trees, and charged through the underbrush. I knew exactly where I was going since Wynter promised to return there. Plus, I knew that Aztec and Klondike would appreciate returning to where it all began. Honestly, I am sure that Hades, Titus, Titan, and Cerberus would appreciate it as well. I slowed down once I saw the boulder ahead of me. Apparently, the others weren’t expecting that as they skidded past me trying to stop. I let out a huff of laughter before padding towards the clearing. I stalked my way back into the clearing with Aztec and Klondike pressed into my flanks. Stopping right at the tree line, I looked out at the waiting humans. I sensed my packmates approaching the tree line and knew they would be visible. I nodded my head at Alpha Grant before turning and entering the forest. Shift. Meet me at the tree line. Everyone quickly dispersed to follow Wynter’s orders. I gave her control and soon we were standing in our human form. Knowing that this would take a while before we broached the subject of mates, I settled into her mind with the intention of taking a nap. Wynter’s P.o.V. I jogged back to the tree line and saw only Kendrick and Kade standing there. A moment later the others appeared. “Let’s deal with our pack stuff first. Then Alpha Grant. And finally, there will be one last thing to deal with. Got it?” “As always we follow you and your lead, Wynter,” Kendrick solemnly said. I smiled at him before stalking out into the meadow. “Alpha Grant, we will deal with the alliance with you. Not your son. As far as my companions and I are concerned he is not an alpha. He is weak and unimportant until he makes a name for himself. He is not worthy of being allied with Twisted Moon. With that being said, the deal we will strike with you will be as such until he proves his worth. We will handle that all in a few moments though. I have pack business to attend to first.” “I figured as such, Alpha Wynter. I will wait as long as necessary to make an alliance.” “Father…!” “Silence! Noah, you have not been an alpha long. Only three months. I already figured they wouldn’t speak to you or respect you. Now, be silent or leave this meadow at once.” Immediately, he fell silent and stared hard at the ground. I turned towards my packmates. “We all know why we are here, and it is time for everything to be settled. Three of you have been offered higher rank. Four of you have been offered a ranked position. Let us begin. Orion?” “Canyon and I accept the title of beta. We have served long and hard as one of your gammas and we look forward to proving ourselves further.” “Oliver?” “Ajax and I have enjoyed being gammas, but like Orion and Canyon we look forward to the challenges ahead that face us as betas. We accept the position that has been offered.” “Seth?” “I was born with gamma blood, but I once chose to serve alongside my friends in the position of delta. When you asked me to consider the position of gamma, I was ready to decline, but Cerberus told me to think about it for a few days, so I did. I came to realize that Cerberus and I would make fine gammas. We accept.” “Ryan?” “When I joined the pack two years ago, you told me that I would make a fine ranked wolf one day. Kodiak and I took that to heart. We trained harder. Worked harder. All to prove ourselves. We pledged that day to make sure that we always served the pack to the best of our abilities. It didn’t matter if we ever gained a rank position or not. We knew what we wanted. When you came to us three days ago and asked us for this, we immediately knew we would accept, because that is how we can best serve the pack. Thank you for this opportunity.” “Brittany?” “I was going to refuse. I don’t think I can do this, but Tempest feels like we can. Therefore, I will try and do my best for the pack. Thank you for this chance.” “Kian?” “Twist was afraid and wanted to decline when you asked us. I won’t lie his opinion scared me and I intended to decline, but we have thought about it and talked about it. We have decided that we do have the ability to be gammas. We will agree to serve the pack as gammas.” “Lincoln?” “North and I accept the position of delta. Everyone else made beautiful speeches and I wish we could, but we got nothing to say besides that we accept and will do our best.” “I happy to hear that each of you have accepted. We will do the ceremonies tonight at dusk. Kendrick, Kade, Orion, Oliver, Seth, and Kian. Will you six run with Eden and I on patrol tonight?” All six agreed. Kade rolled his eyes even and Kendrick gave me ‘duh’ look. I turned towards Alpha Grant. “Before we tell you the deal we will agree to, what is the deal you wish to strike with us?” “I want an alliance. I want to be able to call upon your pack if my pack ever needs help. You’re not often in Ashoria and I know that this is one of the few chances I will have to make this deal.” “We will agree to what you want, but we want one of two things to happen. Either you become alpha again or your son must beat me in a fight. If he should fail, like he undoubtedly will, the pack would become rogues. They may join my pack if they wish or stay rogues. That we don’t care about.” I waited for him to respond. I could see fear in both his eyes and well as his son’s eyes. Before he could respond, a young woman stepped up. “Alpha Wynter, I wish to declare myself rogue and offer my allegiance to you immediately.” “Why?” “Because my mate is the one you called Oliver. I want my mate more than anything. I don’t care if I am rogue or not. Please.” “What is your name?” “Lillian, but my family calls me Lilly.” “Very well, Lillian. Welcome to Twisted Moon. We will handle your ceremony tonight. What is your decision, Grant?” “My son has decided to try to fight you. Is this a fight in wolf or human form?” “Human.” “To the death?” “No. Just until one of us gives up.” I stepped forward and beckoned him forward. He cockily stepped forward and rushed at me instantly. I simply stepped to the side before beating him to the ground and dancing away on my toes. He gets up slowly and looks at me. I danced forward and put him on the ground again. This time he stays down. Looking to Grant, I slowly speak, “This is the end of Black River now. Your son lost to me. I am sorry that such a long history for a worthy pack will end due to his insolence. I will be true to my word and take in any members that wish for a pack still. Otherwise, they will be rogues in three days’ time. Ready the pack for it and let me know who wishes to join.” I turn and look at the nine males. I open my mouth to speak when I smell his scent. I whirl around and see him after a long month. “Azriel!” I shriek as I dart to him. He grabs me and lifts me up. I have missed my black haired, orange eyed mate so much. He spins us around before setting me down, but his hands never leave me. “I have missed you, Az.” “And I you. I hope it is a while before there is need to send me away again. No matter how long it is this time.” “Hopefully not, but we have a situation that we must talk about. It may change things, but never the fact that you are my mate.” “Do the ranked wolves need to witness it?” I shook my head. “Does my sister?” Again, I silently told him no. “The rogues?” I simply and silently told him yes. “Black River Pack?” Lastly, no. “You all heard my mate. If this does not concern you leave now. Rogues, if it doesn’t concern you go back with the ranked wolves. We will return shortly.” I smile up at him and bury my nose into his neck. Breathing his scent in helps to calm me down. I listen as everyone clears out except the other nine. Azriel smiles down at me and his eyes blaze with the love he has for me. “Alright, Wyn. What’s going on?” I take a deep breath and release it before starting. “There is stuff that you, Kendrick, Kade, and the pack don’t know. Now, it is going to come out. You have heard about the royal bloodline, right?” “Of course. Everyone has, but many believe the line was wiped out as no one has claimed it.” “No one has claimed it because none of my ancestors took more than one mate. Most never even found more than one of their mates anyways. A royal has ten mates, and it seems that I have stumbled upon the remaining nine. Obviously, I won’t be accepting them without your approval, Azriel. You came first. I also need my pack to agree to what it would all mean.” “It would mean that the pack finally will be forced to settle down. They won’t like it, but they won’t deny you your mates if that is what you want. You have given so much up for them, and this is something all of them will want to give up for you. As for me, Wyn, you know I won’t deny you your mate. As long as they will share nicely. As long as they don’t try to overrule you. As long as they treat you right. I love you too much to ask you to reject your other mates.” I looked up at my orange-eyed mate and fell even more in love with him. I didn’t think he would be so chill about it, but I shouldn’t have doubted him. Nothing seemed to faze him ever. He gazed down at me, and I saw in his eyes how intensely he loved me. “Let’s meet them together, Wyn.” I nodded and grinned at him. Together we walked over to the nine waiting males. “My name is Wynter, and this is my first mate Azriel. What are your names?” The male with the darkest skin I have ever met stepped forward. He had black hair and his eyes seemed to be black orbs as well. The eyes alone told me he was in fact a demon. “My name is Ryker. I am a demon, and his name is Kai.” Ryker stepped back and was replaced with a super pale skinned male. His hair was golden blonde, and his eyes were white orbs. This told me he was an angel. “My name is Maverick, and my angel is called Halos.” Next, two wolf smelling males stepped forward. They were carbon copies of each other. Tan skin. Golden brown hair. Copper colored eyes. “My name is Casen, and my wolf is Florence. This is my brother Caden, and his wolf is Lucca.” A fair skinned male stepped forward next. He had dirty blonde hair and forest green eyes. “I’m Kalium, beautiful. It is very nice to meet you and Azriel. My dragon is named Yukon.” He stepped back and Kallius took his place. He had fair skin with white hair. “We already met, Wynter. It is very nice to meet you, Azriel. I am fae.” A super pale skinned male stepped forward. He has blood-red eyes and dark black hair. His eyes marked him as a vampire. “My name is Jasper, and my vampire is called Demon.” Next, a light brown skinned male stepped up and reached a handout to Azriel. Who smiled at him and shook his hand. He has copper brown hair and ice blue eyes. A strange combination. “My name is Cassian. We call my griffin Major.” Finally, a fair skinned male with sandy brown hair and copper brown eyes stepped up. “I’m Khyer. My bear is Stryker.” “It’s nice to meet each of you. I would love to get to know you all better in the coming days. Wyn, I think we should invite them back to the pack.” “Very well, Az. You may all return with us, but I am going to go hunt for the pack.” I whipped around and started to walk away when a hand grabbed me. I was spun around and stared into the hard, red eyes of Jasper. “Not happening, princess. Don’t walk away from us.” I let out a growl before ripping my hand away and stalking off into the forest. Behind me I heard everyone chuckling. “Not wise, dude. Don’t pick a fight with Wynter unless you have a death wish. Kendrick and Kade won’t stand for it. Whether you are her mate or not.” I hated that Azriel gave him a warning.
