Chapter 5: Unbroken Bonds Julian dodged the blade, but the dark magic surrounding the dagger flared, striking his chest and sending him to his knees as the curse violently reacted. He roared in agony, his eyes flashing pitch-black as the dark veins expanded across his neck. A ripple of shock passed through the onlookers—no one had expected an Alpha of his strength to fall so quickly, and gasps of disbelief echoed across the courtyard. "Julian!" Kael yelled, throwing himself into the fray, his Alpha strength barreling through two of the enemy witches, keeping them away from his brother-in-arms. I didn't think twice. I threw off my coat and stepped directly into the open garden. "Get away from him!" I shouted. The head witch turned to me, laughing. "A little stray wolf thinks she can stop a high spell?" I raised both hands. I stopped suppressing my bloodline. A blinding circle of golden light ignited beneath my feet, mixing the fierce, unyielding power of an Alpha wolf with the ancient, raw force of a master witch. The wind whipped around us, turning my hair into a dark halo of power. The head witch’s eyes widened in sheer terror. "Half-blood... the lost lineage!" "I am the answer to his curse," I said coldly. I threw my hands forward, sending a shockwave of holy magic through the air. The head witch was lifted off her feet and slammed into the stone wall, her dark dagger shattering into a thousand pieces of useless glass. The garden fell dead silent. Whispers broke out in hushed, stunned tones among those watching, their eyes wide as they struggled to comprehend the legendary magic that had just unfolded before them. Kael stood breathless, staring at me in awe as the remaining witches fled into the shadows. Julian was on the ground, gasping for air, the black veins receding under his skin as my magic naturally soothed his bond. I rushed to Julian's side, dropping to my knees. He pulled me into his arms, wrapping his large frame around me, burying his face in the crook of my neck. His heart beat steadily against mine, alive and unbroken. "You saved me," Julian whispered, his voice trembling with emotion as he held me tighter. Kael knelt beside us, placing a hand on Julian's shoulder and looking at me with fierce respect and affection. "You proved your loyalty, Willow. Now we prove ours." Julian pulled back slightly, his hand coming up to cradle my face. His silver eyes were bright, clear, and filled with an undeniable love that sent warmth through every inch of my body. "From this night on," Julian declared, his voice ringing with absolute Alpha authority, "you are protected by the two strongest packs in this academy. We fight together, Willow. Always." As the bonfires burned in the distance, I knew my life as a hidden, lonely orphan was over. I had found my place and two Alphas who would burn the world down to keep me safe.
